This credit union rapes you. They lie to you that its not their fault. This bank is a crook. they have bad customer service skills and are very unprofessional.
Money was taken out of my account w/​o my permission and they say its not their fault
If you’re looking for a good bank. This is not for you. They got hacked this year (couple months ago) very unprofessional and locked my account without a notification to let me know whats going on. They are a fraud bank. Do not go to them. Jean darc is a scam

The web site has no search option. Very poor web site. Emailed and called them 3 times, no response. I don’t think they care about their members or customer service at all. I think all they care about is their executive pay roll. I can get that at Bank of America.

I overdrawn my account 14 dollars on accident. Used my card instead of company card. It was overdrawn 30 days and account was closed. No call nothing. I travel for work so I wasn’t around. I was told over the phone by Jeanne d’Arc credit union to come down and pay the 14 and they’ll reopen the account. So I showed up there today and they refused to open my account. Wtf 5 years there maybe overdrawn twice and only by a few dollars. After 30 days of negative 14 dollars they kicked me to the curb. I’ve been a loyal customer for 5 years. Not recommended. Also this past cold snowy winter someone made a accident and put my deposit as a withdrawal and I went to get gas for my plow truck in the middle of a snow storm denied card. This was like 6 in the morning. It was a friday so I plow close to the bank I figured I’d just go there and get it fixed. No there closed cause there was 8 in snow. We had 30 inches the week before and they were open. They didn’t get it fixed till monday. I had to borrow money to pay for fuel for my plow truck till they figured it out. 0 stars is more like it.

If I could give them a negative rating I would. My husband and I have 3 checking accounts between us, 3 savings accounts with the checking accounts, a car loan, and a credit card. All accounts are linked together in their system. We hit some financial struggles lately and have gone through a government credit counseling program to pay down our unsecured debt, which our other creditors were more than happy to accommodate. JDCU was the only creditor to refuse any reduced interest rate or adjusted payment day.
Flash forward to two months after entering credit counseling. Our checking and savings accounts are still in good standing: our paychecks are direct deposited and they are in no way overdrawn. The car loan is paid in full, as we are paying secured debt outside of the counseling program.
On the first of the month our paychecks went in as normal and… all accounts are frozen. They gladly accepted the deposits, but would not allow us to withdraw any money. This means as I paid utility bills, and the mortgage, each payment bounced. When I went to put gas in my car my card was declined. Forget paying for any food.
Turns out JDCU did not want to wait for the payments to start coming in from the counseling program (again, a US government program that every other creditor was happy to work with), and decided to hold all of our money ransom until we paid them $ 200 directly. Of course they turned the accounts off right before a holiday weekend, which made it impossible to even find out what was going on for three days until they came back in to the office.
Now I am being hit with returned check fees from my bills, im up to $ 175 so far. Plus their demanded $ 200 means I am out $ 375 from my monthly budget (they are also still getting a payment from the counselling program in 2 weeks).
I am closing all of my accounts this weekend.

If there were a way to give less than one star, I would do it.
In terms of honesty, this credit union is shoddy with communication on a good day. On a bad day, communication can be outright false.
Their website is improving, but awful and frequently is behind in reporting transactions and accurate balances.
Their mobile banking is atrocious and rarely reflects the same balance as online banking or an ATM total.
Customer service: I had a problem with a fraudulent transaction. Jeanne D’Arc kept the fees they took and wanted the vendor to not only refund the incorrect transaction but also to refund the fees Jeanne D’arc took as a result.
Direct Deposit: I wouldn’t if I were you. I often don’t have my deposits until a day or two after they are electronically transferred. More than once, the deposit has been credited to someone else’s account.
Also of note, direct deposits will not be available at midnight the day of. According to more than one cs agent, no one is available to process these deposits until after 7:30 am and then it depends on how much other work they have to do. What?
Also, look out for FinanceWorks. It’s somewhere on the website and you have to decline it. No, you don’t sign up for it. They automatically enroll you and charge you 4.99 twice in two weeks. Unless of course you notice the disclaimer guiding you to decline. Awesome!
As a result, of all of these fun things, my account has had numerous fees attached, numerous cs agents scrambling to ineffectively help, and numerous supervisors and managers apologizing.
Today, they closed my membership account in error and informed me that they can’t refund the money they took from THAT account. Why? Because the rep didn’t know how. That’s why.
DCU, here I come.

I am in the market for a home equity loan. I visited this branch as per the loan center person directed me on Tuesday at 1PM and waited for 1 hour in a waiting room that makes you feel that you are at the Food Stamp Office. I was armed with all my paperwork done, ready to submit. After waiting for close to over hour, the manager, Ms. Maura happened to come to the reception desk, I asked her for an appointment for today at 5:00pm. I arrived today a few minutes ahead of time to my appointment with Ms. Maura. I noticed she was busy in her office with a customer. At 5:20p Ms. Maura came out of her office, shouted «is there a Grace, Gracie or somebody with similar name here?» Someone got up responding to the call and began walking towards her while I was trying to make eye contact with Ms. Maura to remind her of our appointment. She did see me and then scolded the young man at the reception for not marking me as having an appointment (remember that she made my appointment in person). She left to her office with the woman and her little girl, came back out to take the customer’s little girl to the bathroom and went back with her to her office. I waited until 5:32pm and got up to leave. The male receptionist scolded me for not waiting longer and «that there was nothing we could do about the long wait».
It is lamentable that this credit union is not valuing their diversity customer base. No one should be treated with those long waits, a total lack of courtesy, and absolutely no concern for one’s business. Two customers, a latino and a black family left, tired of waiting and complaining about lack of their business being valued.
I work in the city, and have many times have referred our employees to open accounts at your credit union up until now. I will not be back and I will not recommend you to a soul. You do not deserve the diversity business as long as you do not wake up and give diversity customers the respect deserved. If your customer base were white, you would be out of business.
There is no question that I was uncomfortable with the entire situation and the fact that I was completely disrespected, At a minimum I expected an apology. Based on Ms. Maura’s body language I guess I am someone who just does not deserve to be waited on. I respect others and expect the same.
Jeanne D’arch Credit Union, you’ve got plenty of competition. I thought the best of you but you changed it to the worst, and I will no longer be making any referrals in your direction.

Note: I’ve been a patron of Jeanne d’Arc Credit Union since I was 3 (1991). JDCU only has branches in the Merrimack area of Massachusetts. I’ve been to every single JDCU branch (except for the one in Lowell High School because I did not go to LHS), with my parents as a child and continue to do so as an independent adult. I am still a patron of this bank although my permanent residence is in Connecticut.
(** Two Stars) This branch (Downtown Lowell) is ALWAYS busy and bustling from the seams with people. It might even be the oldest JDCU branch… the other branches are much newer and modern-​looking. It’s best to do one’s business quickly and get in/​out just as fast. There are aaaaalways homeless people hanging around the front of the building as well.
(** Two Stars) The Chelmsford branch is just as inept as the Lowell branch… plus the drive thru is completely unsafe and haphazardly placed. I’ve nearly gotten into so many accidents because stupid teenagers decide to speed 25+ miles (it’s a friggin’ bank drive thru!!!) in a small, barely-​two-​lanes-​area-​that-​turns-​into-​one lane.
(***** Five Stars) If you’re willing to go across the bridge, I highly recommend the Dracut branch. It’s highly superior in terms of cleanliness, modern amenities (there are k-​cups members can use, you check in with an iPad if you need to talk to a branch manager, assistant manager, loan specialist, etc), and the employees and much more competent. The Dracut branch is the BEST of the branches, hands down.

Jeanne D’Arc gets customer service right. I do all of my banking with Jeanne D’Arc and I have one of their credit cards. I’m also applying for a car loan and they’re great because they approve within the same business day. The staff are friendly and happy to answer any of your questions.

I am updating my review for JDCU, as they have done noticeable work lately to improve their online experience. I’ve had a much easier time doing basic tasks through their self-​service website than in prior years.
Their ATM, however, remains absolutely horrible to visit. The lineup of cars is absurd, even on a Thurs. night at the downtown Lowell location. Tonight I was stuck in line at the drive-​thru ATM for about 30 minutes, first getting angrily honked at by passing traffic as the line wrapped around the block, then hit up for cash by vagrants. Such an unpleasant drive-​thru, and the only one that I’m aware of in the Lowell area. Why oh why can’t JDCU (clearly a very popular bank) afford to put more ATMs around downtown Lowell?

Switched from Citizens. I like the bank a lot! Jeanne D’arc supports the heck out of the community. They give lots of money to all kinds of local causes, and they are a non-​profit, so they can benefit their membership more than a regular bank. So, its a double-​awesome whammy!
As far as services goes:
On the plus side, they reimburse ATM fees for other ATMs, and they gave me a low-​interest car loan.
But, you should know: this branch gets busy. So, don’t go during like noon on Friday or something. Go during off-​peak hours and you’ll be a happier camper.

Overall JDCU is a good bank, no personal experience with this exact location. My g/​f had her bank accounts hacked into and stolen twice and JDCU was very good at notifying her and refunding her the money which was stolen.

I figured I’ll move them up to 4 stars because I don’t see the lines and the hecticness of this bank anymore (the Lowell branch tends to be more hectic than the Dracut ones). Also, they have a nice envelopeless ATM on Bridge St. As I do still bank with Salem Five, I do go to Jeanne Darc as one of the banks that accepts Shared Deposits for Salem Five. Also, another thing is the rates. With the 7% on your first $ 500, they tend to favor those who can keep $ 2000 or less in the bank. Or in the case of money market rates, the rate is 2% for those who can maintain $ 100,000 or more, which is the same or higher than online banks.

The third oldest credit union in the United States (!) offers impeccable customer service and remains very devoted to the Merrimack Valley and its hometown. They are healthy and growing, too. Additionally, how many financial institutions do you know that are named after a French martyr/​Saint?
