I have only one issue with this place… not finding it sooner! I absolutely love this place. It is now for over 6 months been my sole mexican food restaurant. Everything i have tried has been great fajitas, fajita nachos, chile rellenos, barbacoa, queso, homemade flour tortillas, and my all time favorite al pastor! The queso is fantastic. Always fast and friendly.

Look you need to go and get #25 the fajita nachos. If you’re all about chimys nachos, prepare to have your world rocked. The meat has great flavor, and the fajita veggies add great texture. And the queso is out of this world. I can’t believe I’ve lived here so long and haven’t tried this place before this month.

They get 2 stars because the food is good. Unfortunately the place is very dirty, inside and outside. Waitresses were very friendly, but got our order wrong and never brought us any salsa for our tacos. I don’t think we will be back.

I’m from the Rio grande valley and the Mexican dishes are the bomb. I recently came into this restaurant and I was not amused at all. I order the carne guisada plate and the meat was not tender at all. In addition, the plate looked like they just reheated the entire dish. Not pleased at all!

Anytime I am out of town I love to find new places to eat! When you drive up to this restaurant it doesn’t look like much and may thInk to reconsider! Don’tI. It’s like what they say! Some of the best places are just holes in the wall! The food is great! The enchiladas were on point! It’s very clean and the people are friendly!

I’ve missed my Tex-Mex breakfasts since I moved to California! This place has the best salsa I’ve ever had, served with fresh, crispy corn chips. Prices are very reasonable too!

This is one my favorite places to eat. I loved the nachos as well as the cocktail De Camarones. I never regret going to this place!

Pretty good food for the price. The hot sauce was not amazing but the queso was delicious. Guacamole, carne guisada, and one if their large burritos were all very good. The service was decent. The only bad things were that the parking lot sucks and it was pretty packed inside.

Embrace yourselves for a very in-depth Review, including part of my life story. I call this place Cartel Taco for obvious reasons, and currently go about once a week(it’s walking distance from my house). The first couple of times I visited with my roommate they looked at us like«those awkward white people» since we always showed up extremely hungover with messed up hair and demand Powerade and water to replenish our dehydrated corpses. I also bring girls that spend the night at my house here for breakfast, and they love it. There are two girls in particular that go crazy for it, and would spend the night with me just so I could take them there in the morning. The waiters and owner definitely know whats up when I cycle different college girls into the restaurant, and they think it’s great haha. We are definitely not the average crowd for this restaurant, but we didn’t give two shits because the food is some of the most authentic Mexican food that I have ever ingested, and because a taco is $ 2. 2 freaking dollars for any taco that you want what the hell? Free chips and homemade salsa wtf? I was in heaven. The most delicious thing you can order here is the chicken fajita quesadillas. They are unlike any quesadillas I have ever had, and came in the shape of 3 tacos, with a side of lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream. Make sure you accept the $.50 up-charge and tell the waiter«chicken FAJITA quesadillas» rather than just«chicken quesadillas» because the normal chicken does not compare. The best $ 5.50 you will ever spend. After going ritually just about every week for the past year, I lost my job at a popular steakhouse,(I accidentally sent a message via the company’s group email to EVERYONE basically telling the manager that he sucks, thinking that the message was being sent to only a few of my coworkers…) and that changed everything. I was so broke that I had to eat here EVERYSINGLEDAY just about. It was cheaper to eat here than to buy the ingredients and do it myself. Although I was allowed the freedom to choose between several different meats to put in my taco, I generally had to stick to the $ 2 section of the menu. Switching between Barbacoa, Chicken, Spicy Pork, and Lengua(tongue); I lived a life in complete and total squaller. I ate cartel taco to survive. Needless to say that my girls all left me due to my inability to purchase them Cartel Tacos, and they migrated to more wealthy men that would support their way of life. I lived my unemployed life taco-to-taco for about a month until now, before I finally secured quite possibly the *worst* job that a partially college educated male could ever ask for. I was cleared for a dishwashing position at a small Italian restaurant, and I start work on Friday. I am excited because I was promised that one day I would be eligible to become a line cook. I have wanted to be a chef for most of my life, and this is a start! I am looking forward to getting a weekly paycheck, so that I can get my life back together and start ordering some of the more deluxe items on the Cartel Taco menu(joking). Of course my parents give me allowance money, as I am nearly a sophomore in college, but most of that goes to gas, utilities, car insurance, and clothes. After all of these purchases I had about 60 $ to spend on food, perfect for cartel taco! I did take note that 90% of customers include a cash tip on the table at the end of their meal rather than include it on the credit card, I guess it is the respectful way to tip in respectable taco restaurants. P. S. If you’re looking for a sweet milky drink order the Horchata, it’s like a weird liquid form of a Mexican milkshake… Okay, I have no idea what it is but it has a distinct familiar flavor that is extremely satisfying. Cheerz, to my fellow taquiteers

For you authentic Mexican food fans out there, this is a great place to go! Corn tortillas, glass bottle Cokes, delicious meats, Dulce de leche candy and La Michoacana style«paletas» all go to deliver one of the most authentic Mexican food experiences in town. Arandas will definitely have you coming back!

I have been eating here for many months now. I mostly eat breakfast, however I eat here during lunch and dinner too. They are the only restaurant I am aware of the make fresh hand made tortillas daily. That alone is a great reasons to eat there. Their food is always very good. The waitresses are almost always very courteous and attentive. The owners(husband and wife) are very nice as well. One of them are here almost every time I come in. I wouldn’t say that it is the most amazing mexican food I have ever had, but it is very good and consistent. I would say it is well above average. Especially for Lubbock. Recommendations would be the chicken fajitas and the carne guisada enchilada plate combination. For breakfast I always have eggs, beans, pice de gallo and corn tortillas. Oh, and their breakfast burritos are the best in town. I would recommend ordering the salsa that comes with the chips instead of what they normally give you. The standard sauce is not bad, it’s just that I prefer the other. They are all the way across town from where I live, but I make the trip a couple of times a week anyway. It’s worth it!
