Tried this restaurant today for lunch and was very disappointed. High priced and not so great food. I really wanted to love this place because of the reviews, the beautiful location and beautiful building but we wont be back.

Was not expecting to find such a wonderful place out here in the country. All the food was wonderful and freshly made. Service was outstanding!

Not many good options to visit my mom bw Columbus and Akron so when we tried this place tonight we were very excited !! The food was great and so was the service! Everyone was so nice and very helpful. The apple chicken and the shrimp pasta were both done so well. The chicken was cooked perfectly. It was so hard to pass up dessert(which sounded so good) but after both finishing our plates we had no room. The scenery around the restaurant is beautiful as well! Definitely should try if near the area or looking for w dinner meeting spot :)

Nice little historic restaurant. I give it 3 stars overall. We arrived as part of a group and our table was ready and the host was polite, friendly, and helpful. Our server’s name was Casey. Nice guy. Friendly, and polite. He got my drink right first try, and my wife asked for hot tea and water. Easy enough to remember? Apparently not. He forgot both the water and hot tea. After the entire group had their drinks we waited 10 minutes and asked for the hot tea and water again, «Oh yes, he replies, I didn’t forget, I’m just really busy.» Ten more minutes pass and still no water and hot tea. Not until he came for our orders did he «Remember». Then he leaves to fetch the drinks while the entire table waited again! Now we have water and hot tea. My wife said the Tea was good BTW Now it’s time to order. Everyone’s order was correct. The food was good but not as exceptional as the price would beg for. I had the Tbone. Medium. It was cooked perfect, the meat was tender and delicious. The mashed potatoes and red beets that were the sides were edible but again I wouldn’t write home about either one. Again an overall 3 stars. Moderately overpriced but not a total waste of money. A great time was had with friends!

Went here recently while visiting our daughter at Kenyon College. It was a family birthday and we wanted someplace special and Malabar Farms delivered. My husband particularly liked his red sauce pasta and my son raved about the pork chops. They gave us a free dessert and the tiramisu was fabulous… rich without being cloying. Overall great food and good service. Well worth the drive!

Great historical restaurant — think ‘date night’ or even a wine luncheon with the girls. Sandwiches, Steak, shrimp pasta are awesome and servers are wonderful. Kim(hostess) will make you feel welcome As soon as you arrive ! Might want reservations, great historic location. Outdoor seating is nice as well!

How this place is rated more than one star, I will never know. The building is small and is often over crowded, which is bad enough when it isn’t full of families with small children, on top of a VERY limited menu, just skip this place. The service and the food were abysmal. I had the«meatloaf». The quotation is necessary because I’ve never had meatloaf that was quite like what they were serving. I think it was sausage? The only thing I’m sure of was that it was bad. Quite possibly the most pretentious place I’ve ever had the displeasure of eating at. I won’t be returning.

My husband & I went there for lunch during the holidays. We both felt it was over priced for the amount of food served & the menu was limited. Almost all the entrees contained bacon, two sausage dishes on the menu but no chicken dishes were offered. Definitely not healthy food. We spent over $ 34 on lunch & my husband was still hungry when we left. Definitely won’t be going back.

Driving by and its lunch time so we thought we try this restaurant. What a pleasant surprise! Beautiful setting, great service, great food. Mushroom soup was rich and garlicky and the bread so good we asked to buy a loaf to take with us. I had the bratwurst special and my wife a Ruben. Both excellent and Hugh(almost too much) portions. I’m already looking for an excuse to make the 2 hour drive to come back again.

We went for an anniversary dinner I had a rib steak which was cooked to perfection the mushrooms are always excellent. We have had lunch and dinner at Malabar Inn on many occasions and have never had a bad experience. MANYOCCASIONSEQUALSATLEAST40TIMESORMORE. Who is counting when the service, food and ambience and wine selection is impeccable. KIM does an excellent job at making sure everything is perfect. John and Lou Stinehour.

Everything was delicious! From the first piece of bread to the last bite of pumpkin cheesecake, all the food was fresh and well prepared. The restaurant has a homey feel and the service was superb! The BEST meatloaf I have ever had! Excited to come back and try other dishes!

We arrived just around 5pm, early enough to beat the dinner crowd. We waited about 10 minutes while the hostess and a waitress who was on the phone worked out details for a prty of 8 coming in at 7:30 that night. Neither acknowledged us until after 5 minutes, the waitress at least looked at us and sort of smiled. The hostess, not on the call, never even looked up. The call finally ended and the waitress disappeared into the back. The hostess continued to look at her seating chart for a few more minutes, then finally asked how many, which was just the two of us. The waitress came back and the two of them were checking out the chart like crazy. Now I can see in the restaurant, there is hardly anyone in the one room and the other room is empty and they are dickering over where to seat us. The hostess finally says they have one table but its booked in an hour, do we think we’d be done by then? At this point I’ve had enough. I told them I felt very unwelcome there and we walked out. They seemed a little surprised but I mostly think they were relieved we left. There were no indication this was a reservation only place and they COULD have said it was an issue but nothing. There were stickers on the register and charity donation boxes giving a casual feel and casually dressed patrons, so they need to take the stick out of their tookus and learn how to treat paying customers.

Stopped in for the first time Saturday at noon. Had the room to ourselves as a lot of people were on the patio. From the moment we were greeted until we left, the service was awesome. Our waitress took time to tell us about the history in the area and was so pleasant. As for the food… I can’t remember ever having such a great lunch. Start with the goat cheese and crostinis. To die for. Ordered the pasta Putanesca and it was heavenly. Home made pasta and fresh veggies. The waitress brought out a sample of the warm potato salad. It was unworldly. My friend had a cheeseburger on a sweet, homemade bun. It was said to be the best ever! But the kicker was a fresh blueberry shortcake with fresh whipped cream and big, fresh blueberries. It was quite literally the best desert I’ve ever had. We’ll be back ASAP. Great place!

hands down my fave restaurant ever. The meals never disappoint, the ribeye and burger are personal faves. The tiramisu is to die for. The staff is always sweet, and the restaurant itself is incredibly beautiful. Should you be there when it’s warm the views from outside are breathtaking. Malabar, you are a gem.

We were investigating where to eat in this area when we stumbled across this Inn. The waiter who greeted us explained how all fresh ingredients, many local, were used. His description of the various dishes caused us to return that evening for dinner. We were not disappointed. Each course better than the next. The crab cakes were delicious. The Caesar salad had an interesting dressing while the house salad was perfect. We had two versions of their fillet mignon and each were outstanding, literally melting in our mouths. Between the chocolate brownie hot fudge Sunday and the Crème broulet with a maple syrup candy crust we couldn’t have been more pleased. Don’t miss this place if you visit Mohican.

Every time we visit Malabar Farm Restaurant it’s a wonderful dining experience. The food is always meticulously prepared, fresh doesn’t even begin to describe the quality. Compliments to the chef as we’ve never been disappointed. I like the fact that the lunch menu is different from the dinner menu. I especially like that the wait staff clearly enjoy their job– always there when we need something but always giving our space to enjoy the moment. Today we had lunch which included breaded mushroom appetizer, cheeseburger, Reuben and Meatloaf. Our meals were all perfectly prepared and more than enough to satisfy, partner that with a welcoming atmosphere and it made the afternoon a pure delight. This has become my favorite dining place in Central Ohio. I don’t mind my 55 minute drive– the food, atmosphere and staff are worth it!

This was my 1st time at the Malabar Inn Restaurant although my wife had been here before and highly recommended it. We visited on 2⁄8 — during the recent cold snap that has gripped the area. We had a group of 7 there for lunch and the restaurant was very accommodating. Let’s start with the appetizers, the mushroom soup(a staple on their menu) was excellent — as was the roasted tomato soup which alternates on the menu with a cauliflower soup. The Caesar salad was also excellent. As for the entrees — the Reuben sandwiches were super(my wife’s favorite) the cheeseburger was also outstanding. On the day of our visit, the restaurant’s «special» was a pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw which was my choice. The pulled pork was exceptionally good and the cole slaw was able to «stand on it’s own» — it wasn’t just a side dish.
The physical setting is a beautiful old farmhouse/stagecoach inn dating back to the early 1800“s. Unfortunately — with old buildings come problems that most homeowners can relate to. On the day of our visit, the restaurant was dealing with frozen water pipes in the restrooms and with a balky furnace. Consequently — the dining room temperature was in the low 60’s. These inconveniences did not detract from the quality of the food or the service but did influence my decision to go with 4 versus 5 stars.
