I ordered cashew shimp and egg rolls my bill was 17 dollars and some change way too much for mostly celery the cheapest food on the plant… my order was 80% celery and there were only ten tiny shrimp in the pile of celery. I would have given 3 stars, but when i only put down a dollar tip. The older gentelman was no longer nice he became bitter and rude. My buddy also gave a few bucks i was chipping in on the tip for a table of three. But with split checks we paid separately and only saw a dollar tip. O well i guess panda express next time.

Gave it 2 stars only because the food was ok, over priced, the place is very out dated and worn out, don’t know if it was the owner but he did offer me tea hot or cold while I was waiting for my order, won’t be going back, I work in Lucerne valley thought it would be quick to go there but next time I will go to apple valley.

Always good quality vegetables and food. Everything tastes the same every time we go. I think the quality is the same every time because the owner cares about his business and is always present

This is a classic restaurant that suffers from ratings inflation. I think the kitschy nature of a worn restaurant on a lonely desert highway gives it a certain Route 66-style charm. And I definitely agree that this restaurant has all the charm from the red faded plates and chandilers to dirty asbestos-laden popcorn ceiling and dead fly in the window sill. What it doesn’t have is good food. My friend and I ordered the Szechuan Pork, Lemon Chicken, and Pork Egg Foo Yung. The Szechuan Pork had no pork and all water chestnuts, the Lemon Chicken had a fake lemon flavor and the chicken had absolutely no seasoning and was very bland, the Egg Foo Yung had way too much sauce and very little egg and again was flavorless. The appetizers of an egg roll, pork rib, and fried shrimp was good as was the wanton soup. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

My favorite Chinese food ever! Best wor wonton soup and hot and sour wonton soup I’ve ever had! Sometimes a little busy but that’s just because it’s so good! I enjoy coming here ever chance I get and am always greeted with a warm welcome especially being in such a small town!

We tried this place today after receiving recommendations from friends. Now I only wish we’d tried it years ago! I had no idea there was Chinese food this good in the desert. It’s definitely worth the drive into Lucerne. We had the lunch special. For a little under seven bucks, we were served hot tea, egg drop soup, rice, an egg roll, 1 entrée, plus a fortune cookie and an almond cookie. I had the lemon chicken, and it was delicious. The egg drop soup was the best I’ve ever had by far. The egg roll was amazing. I haven’t had an egg roll that good since I had high school friends whose Chinese mothers made egg rolls at home. The rice seemed to be flavored with sweet and sour sauce and was also very good. The staff was so kind and friendly, and we very much enjoyed our lunch. It definitely won’t be our last time here!

A great little find off a lonely little highway in the desert! The owner was awesome as he took pride in serving food! We ordered the Pu Pu Platter and pleasantly surprised. It was beautiful! When we were leaving, the owner gave us a few tangerines for the road. Yep, I would stop here again!

I was coming home from Big Bear and we found this place at the first stop sign off the mountain. The waitress and chef/waiter were exceptionally courteous and helpful. We had a four course meal. The first was a delicious soup that had a rich deep flavor. The pork in it gave it a salty taste. The second round was a vegetable egg roll, I don’t enjoy vegetables in general, but if they tasted this good I would eat them ALL the time. For the main course we had: sweet and sour ribs, sweet and sour pork, orange chicken, chicken chow mein, kung pao chicken, beef and broccoli and chicken curry. Every single dish was incredible. The flavors were rich and the food was very well cooked. For dessert we were given both almond cookies and fortune cookies. This is definitely a place to visit on your way to or from big bear. It is on the back route of the mountain.

Considering how remote this place is, I can’t imagine a better or more cared-for location. Looks like a hubby/wife running it. Bravo! All dishes made wonderfully

I’ve been coming out here for years, usually about an hour drive. I won’t be coming back. The Mongolian Beef & the Broccoli Beef were like chewing tasteless leather. Normally, Mongolian [insert meat here] has slightly thicker, sweeter sauce than Broccoli [insert meat here]. This not only had the same sauce, but it also had that nasty old fish sauce taste. The fried wonton tasted like fish and the fried rice tasted and looked like cheap mexican rice minus the cilantro. Edit: Forgot to mention the Mongolian Beef was 90% bamboo, 9% green onions and 1% ‘beef’ Additionally, it made both of us sick for hours afterwards. All around such a sad disappointment.

Tucked into the middle of the Twilight Zone aka Lucerne Valley is an Eastern jewel straight out of Taiwan called The China House. Bizarre as this may all sound– the food is fresh and tasty, authentic of course, and a treat worth the drive. One your next trip through whether on your way to Big Bear or simply a leisurely drive through the zone– be sure to stop I to this family owned delight.

Best Chinese food 100 miles in any direction. Food is always hot, tasty and yummy! Service is the best. Family run, clean, great value because of low prices. You won’t find better in any major city in the world. I am spoiled now!!! Tell Felix Harvey from Johnson Valley sent you! We have been a regular here since 2003 when we moved to Johnson Valley. On the way we saw the restaurant, stopped in for lunch and have been eating here ever since!!!

Super cool little gem found in the most remote location. We’ve been hearing about this place so we got in the car and drove out to check it out. So glad we did! It is small and un assuming but clean an delicious food. I had the war wonton soup, it’s not to be passed up! Delicious and very satisfied with the flavor. We also had Mongolian beef and a 3 meat dish. Way to much for 2 people. Yay leftovers for later. Prices were comparable.

This review is simply based on American Chinese food style, flavors are adjusted to fit ppl here the states. This place is very interesting. If ur not a local ppl, you prob will not know the place. I came with my friend’s family. When I got there, I thought the owner must be from Taiwan. Sure enough after he took the orders from us, we talked a bit about the home country. Anyway, here’s what I thought about the food… it def is American style Chinese food. Yet, the taste is way better than Other Americanized Chinese food chain. We had family dinner C which costs 15.99 a person. It includes wonton soup, pork rib, naked chicken, spring roll, deep fried shrimp, and a main dish. Wonton soup is good. It has vegetables and shrimps and wonton. Pork ribs are huge pieces. Deep fried shrimp n spring rolls are warm n nothing can go wrong when being deep fried. The chicken is good at least not deep fried. Main dish is small yet you would be totally full after all the appetizers. I think if you order dishes, the potion may be bigger. The rice is pretty good. It’s not white rice. It is fried rice. Over all it is a good restaurant if you wanna have American Chinese food. If not, I would not recommend. Or maybe u can ask the owner if he can just cook one authentic one for you. BTW, the owner is VERYFRIENDLY!
