Stopped on a winter Thursday and there weren’t many people there. It’s true the décor and menu could use updating but there’s something nostalgic about the easy listening music and ambience. The prime rib was wonderful and there was even a candle to keep my au jus warm. Hubby had the goulash special and enjoyed it. Don’t get me wrong, I think there is the potential to do some things better here, but the service was good and our food selections were as well. I also enjoyed the artichoke dip appetizer.

The perch is excellent as is the filet mignon. The décor is way outdated. Service is good.

I’m usually pretty lenient, but this had to be my worst dining experience ever! From the ambiance, to service, to food! When we walked in we noticed a mildew smell and the interior was from the 80’s. We then heard our waitress chewing out her colleagues prior to coming to our table. My wife ordered the«special», chicken Parmesan. Upon taking her first bite of the chicken she noticed it was very rubbery and tasted awful. She cut into the breast and saw ½ was raw! When the waitress came over, we didn’t even have to tell her what was wrong she just said, «oh is it raw?» She never apologized just asked if my wife wanted something else. We then shared my meal… the lake perch which was ok. When she brought the bill, she still charged us for my wife’s side salad she had prior to her entrée! And even after bringing out bill, she still offered no apology. We went to this restaurant because of a friends recommendation, but we will never return!

If you want to step into 1970 this is your place. From the décor to the menu this place is at least 40 years out of date. It amazes me that they stay in business year after year, but the tourists who don’t know must keep it going I guess. Nothing on the menu is «bad» by any means: decent prime rib, decent chicken, decent lake perch, etc. But from the little pot of cheese spread to the carpeting on the floor it just feels like a place that was probably great 40 years ago and just never updated their menu or their philosophy. You can do worse for sure… but it’s nothing special.

Scotty… don’t. This place smells like a musty basement! The Prime Rib tasted like fish! Greasy food=upset stomach!

Good but not great. Over priced for the food quality and service compared to the other top places in town(Jamesport Brewery and Blu Moon). But it offers a broad menu with a lot of seafood(crab, lobster), pasta, prime rib, fish, and some interesting dishes such as chicken with peaches, and there’s even a large kids menu. Good selection of wine and beer. Service was slow and servers could know the menu better when customers ask questions, but they are very nice. I ordered the house salad(it was ok, it was an Asian salad, would suggest the tossed salad instead), and the chicken with peaches(chicken was a over cooked and the dish was very sweet(guess that’s what you get with peaches), others in the dinner party ordered Alaskan King Crab($ 30 but very good), orange ruffy stuffed with crab(didn’t try it but looked very good and received rave reviews from my fellow diner), fried shrimp and fries, kids’ spaghetti(huge order and tasty) and kids’ pizza stick(seemed a little too dry, bready to me). Drinks were reasonably priced but entrees are $ 15-$ 30. We made reservations on a weeknight in the summer during prime dinner hour but plenty of seats were available. It does get packed on the weekends. It’s good place but won’t blow you away.

Overpriced for dinner menu, service and quality of food. I would skip this place if you have other options. The food: French onion soup-below average Caesar salad-average Fried perch with Fries-Perch was the only menu item I would consider good. The fries weren’t worth eating-the flavor and texture were off. These were some of the worst fries I’ve been served at any restaurant. The service was only just acceptable and not worthy of a place charging $ 20+/entrée.

Food is fine here. I’m vegetarian and had the Roma pasta. Good amount of veggies in it and cheese sauce was flavorful. My husband had the prime rib which he found to be very much to his taste. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Having said that, it irks me to no end when a hostess refuses to seat us in a booth when they are obviously open ones available. There were 6 booths. Only one was occupied. The hostess told us she had to keep them open for up to 2 hours for incoming reservations! We told her we would be quick – we don’t drink and we generally do not have desserts. She stated she had to do that just in case someone comes early – 2HOURS – really? We were saved by our server. I had a sour look on my face – she noticed and we told her the situation. She took us over to the booth section and I calmed down to enjoy my dinner.

Stopped here for lunch. My husband came here in the 90s when going on charter fishing trips. He always raved about the perch. The décor hasn’t changed since the 90s. We each had soup, french onion and crab. Both were OK not anything special. I had the perch sandwich and hubby had perch dinner. Both came with fries. The perch was very good as we’re the fries. It was worth the stop for the perch, but would skip the soups next time.

Excellent prime rib – one of the best I’ve ever had. Cheese-stuffed pasta was good too. Fish is just ok – if you like deep fried food you’ll probably enjoy more than I did. Really good service and friendly staff. Perhaps Ludington’s nicest restaurant.

This restaurant appears to be a local favorite but not for us. With no waiting line at 8:00 we waited 15 minutes to be seated, having been told our table was being cleared, despite the many cleared tables available. And here’s the kicker: while waiting a party of 6 arrived who almost immediately were directed to the table we were waiting for. We had read the reviews and menu on the internet which said gourmet hamburgers would be served for lunch as well as dinner, but when we got there, they said no, just a basic hamburger was available, as an exception, because hamburgers of no sort were usually served at dinner. We declined the favor and opted for two full meals. I got the house special, perch which came with your choice of potatoes but no vegetable or even coleslaw. The presentation was disappointing. Five finger pieces of fried perch on a barren plate, a separate bowl of mashed potatoes with of all things beef gravy. My husband got the small rib roast, again presented on a barren plate with a side dish of fries. Again no vegetable. the au jus was either canned or bouillon but was presented most elegantly in a tin can perched atop a candle. Ultimately the food was good but would not go back.

The place is outdated and has old décor, but very clean, and the food is just delicious ! I tried four different kind of fish and all tasted absolutely great. Would definitely visit again, the next time I’m in the area. Also, the service was great and quick.

Family-style restaurant with lots of dressing on the salad and good value, if that is measured in amounts of food per dollar. The bar makes cocktails with pre-made mixes, service is polite and food is ok.

Experienced great tasting seafood & astonishing service. Met my grandparents & brought our young child. Server was excellent at engaging our toddler & very accommodating when she started to have meltdown. Boxed our food up & brought the bill promptly. The food was hot, delicious, and prompt. No complaints. Memorable experience.

Been coming here forever. The Scott family does a great job to make you feel at home. They also give a great value for your dollar. I have read some of these reviews — most are very possitive, the others are from one time dinners that may have been there on a rare off nite. I really enjoy this fine dinning quality with a relaxed atmosphere . Thanx to Dick, Doreen & Chip and the rest of the Crew for giving Ludington a nice place to dine…

Perch was ordered with side salad. The small had 6 pieces. Fish was good. Lightly battered and served warm. Salad was a nice size. Only iceberg in the mix. Very much a 1970’s décor. Clean and neat. Service was friendly and attentive. Price was reasonable for adults but pricey for bringing kids. I would go back.

Ordered whitefish, supposed to be their speciality. I had to add salt three times and order extra lemons just to give it some taste. Only got baked potato and rolls with dinner. Had to pay extra for salad. The baked potato was also disappointing, it was boiled first and barely hot. My husband ordered the seafood platter. It looked good but he said Long John Silvers is just as good. Had to leave and go get dessert because I was still hungry.

This place isn’t bad but it’s not awesome. I had a pork chop. It was dry-ish and rather bland tasting. Wasn’t bad but for $ 19 it should be better. Otherwise the place is good. Clean, good service.

I’ve read a few reviews complaining about the smoke at this place, but Michigan has recently passed a smoking ban in restaurants, so that is no longer a worry. We had a party of 10 on a 4th of July evening and had no problems getting a table. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and after they closed early for the holiday, they didn’t make us feel like we needed to get the hell out. Prices were typical for a seafood restaurant, $ 15 to $ 20 for a seafood/steak dinner. Our server offered to split the checks for all of us, which alleviates that awkward post-meal expense itemizing. My recommendation on food would be to get the artichoke dip. It was one of the most amazing foods I have ever tasted. Almost stopped on the way out of town to get a few to go.
