Tye-One-J Rentals

I’m giving this place a star just because they had what I needed to rent. I went in on a Friday night for some tables to have a yard sale. The guy at the counter was amazingly nice & helpful when I questioned him on a future rental for a floor sander. Unfortunately, over the weekend we had very bad weather, rain AND SNOW, at the end of May! Yes, that’s Michigan for ya! The following Monday morning when I came to return the tables I had asked the man at the store (a different man from Friday night) if we could maybe refund a PORTION of the rental because I never got to use the tables and I would be renting a floor sander in the near future. (At this time, I would have been happy with 20 bucks, ya know?) He said to me, «No, I’m not doing that! Did you forget that I live here in Ludington too? I think the weather was just fine for a yard sale!!» I then in return said, «It rained the first day & snowed the second!» He would not budge. So I simply said, «Well I guess we’ll have to see about that future rental!» I then went to Grand Rental Station down the road & gave them my $ 200.00 for the time I used their sander & sand paper for a few days. They were very polite & pleasant to work with… I have heard things about this guy since my experience & yeah, the words used to describe him, I can not use on here… Too bad too, because the first guy on Friday night was amazing! Stay away from here & go down the road, unless you like to be treated like you are only wanted for your money.

I will start out by saying my first impression of this place was great — The owner, Jim, was friendly & had absolute great customer service. However, once everything was delivered it was an entirely different situation. I arrived expecting everything to be set up and that was not the case. The Tent was up but they did not put up the side walls or lights (both were still wrapped in boxes to the side & several of the lights were broken). The tent itself looked beat up, having tears and I doubt it had been cleaned in years. The chairs were still stacked in a sleeve & ratcheted shut — Once we took them out we found that Tye One J had not bothered to clean them after their last event — they were covered in cake and mud! If I could go back I would’ve chosen another company. No bride deserves to be stressing and cleaning the day before her wedding.

This place may be good for firewood, but don’t bother renting anything from them.
A relative of mine placed an order to rent chairs for her wedding 10 months in advance. 3 days before her wedding they told her they didn’t have enough chairs because they rented them to a larger party.
They did offer her the chairs they had left at a discount, but that is hardly a consolation. The person she spoke with had a really bad attitude too, as if it wasn’t their fault.
Also, another friend of mine said they rented a margarita machine from Tye-​one and they had problems with it all night. Come to find out, there was a crack in the barrel. They told the rental place about it and the guy didn’t offer a discount or refund or anything. According to my friend, they didn’t seem very concerned about the repair.
I here this place has good prices, but it’s obvious you get what you pay for.

Excellent place to buy firewood for campfires! Got a tipped off to this place from a friend. Will go back from now on when visiting Ludington! They have mostly Oak and sell by the truck load.
