Food is good. The waiter had the personality of a damp rock. Zero emotion. Zero responsiveness. Better waiter can be found at Taco Bell. This took place the day before Thanksgiving… It was a guy in his late 20’s or early 30’s. He never even came back to our table after we had our food. It wasn’t until some other staff members saw us looking for him that they were able to check us out so we could leave. We had a table of 14 in the separate room immediately to the left and back when you walk in. The table was right in the middle of the room. We would have had more drinks had he come back a few times.

Lovely bar. Very spacious can fit any type of crowd or group. However walked in around 11 o clock and was immediately refused service because of the bartenders opinion. Said they would be fined to serve customers under the influence inside a bar. I am a 32 year old man with a wife and kids if I was not okay or unable to walk into a bar I would understand this policy. But anyone who consumes one beverage is technically under the influence. To be immediately rejected service or to even be waited on is absurd. Asked to speak with the owner who was no help. Or even a advocate of anything that was happening. Had no explanation or reasoning to the verdict. I would I have called the police if it meant something more to me then a simple one drink night cap. With all this said I can not recommend supporting an owner who does not believe the customer is right at first without hearing our side

Tried to get a couple of drinks on a Tuesday night when the bar was basically empty. A couple of «locals» were there at the bar as well. As an «non-local» we were treated with no respect and waited over 15 minutes per drink to be served while the bartender conversed with these«locals». I am proud to say I am not a local of ludlow Vermont and I’ll find another bar.

We’ve driven by this place for years on our usual trips between CT and VT. We finally had time to stop in the day after Thanksgiving. They’re usually closed for lunch on Fridays but we were happy to find they were open the day after Thanksgiving. We(me, my husband, and 9 year old) sat in the bar area. We loved the décor and the Irish music playing. Seemed like we were back in Dublin! They were setting up live music which we wished we could have stayed for. They do have a kids menu but my son ordered the wings since they won an award for them. They’re the breaded and fried type and were very good! Plenty of beer choices to wash it down with(for my husband, no my son). I was impressed with the wine selection for a Pub. I ordered a wine on special from France and it was delicious. For entrees we decided on the chicken sandwich and fries. The chicken was tender and the roll it was on was very good, but the chicken lacked flavor even with the aioli. However there are plenty of other entrees to choose from and we hope to stop in again sometime on our way through. We have to get back there at least for a Guinness and live music.

Waiter communicated through grunts and nods. I got the Verburger – a burger glazed with maple syrup, covered in melted cheddar, and topped with bacon. The wife had the chicken salad. My burger was cooked to a nice medium rare, juicy, and tasty. Unfortunate, the large bun surrounding it was a week old, and had the texture of an old saddle. Beef juices soaking into the bun helped with the texture, but the resulting bread soup was only slightly better than the saddle. The fries accompanying the burger were good – crispy and fresh. The chicken salad was decent, although my wife didn’t understand the fried potato wedges that were mixed in. Beer selection was good, and the Magic Hat One Chair draft I had was smooth and tasty. When the waiter came by to see if we were ready for the check, I asked if he could box up the small mound of remaining fries. The waiter said: «Seriously?», gave me a sideways look and walked away. A few minutes later, he returned with the check, but no boxed fries. In response, I paid the $ 55 bill(which seemed high for a burger, salad, 2 beers, and a wine), and then left Caveman a $ 2 tip. My only regret is that it was $ 2 and not $ 1. Suffice to say, we won’t be back.

Décor was great, beer selection was good. Food was overpriced and so so. Expected more from a $ 15 burger. Kids pasta for $ 7 was pretty pricey too. Suggest you have a drink or two or three here, and eat elsewhere.

Passed by this place a few times while visiting Ludlow. My boyfriend and I decided to come here for lunch today. A waitress greeted us as we walked in, but wandered off. A guy jumped in and seated us(later saw him behind the bar, so I guess he was the bartender — nice fellow). Loved the décor! It has a warm feeling to it. I was tempted to drink a black & tan, but thought better of it(I’m a lightweight with alcohol and was driving). So, we ordered our food and drinks. My boyfriend was pleasantly surprised that they had iced tea. We’re from Texas, so we’re used to every restaurant having iced tea, but up in Vermont, it’s been a challenge for us to find restaurants that have it. He ordered the Irish BLT, while I had the Sausage with peppers & onions on a roll. The fries were hot and crispy and there was no shortage of them. I ended up leaving most of my roll on the plate because my meal filled me up. My boyfriend enjoyed his BLT. His only complaint? «Needs mayo.» I’d like to visit Vermont again. If we do, I aim to try the Bangers & Mash or the Shepherd’s Pie.

Update 3÷7÷16: This edit is coming in late, but better late than never? I had a nice conversation with the owner of Killarney’s after my review. I do want to thank them for their service that evening back in September. I will be going back this year to try these guys out again after the next Spartan Race next summer. Any owner who is actually willing to listen to some of the feedback they are given on Unilocal(or in any forum) — well those are the people that really are customer focused. First and foremost we want to thank our server for serving us at 10pm — apparently the kitchen closes at 10. But we had just come in from the Beast Spartan race in Killington. Unfortunately, I don’t think the kitchen staff was all that thrilled that they had to cook. I had gotten ‘fried’ chicken tenders — since it was easier for them to fry than to grill. He ordered a BLT. While we waited for our food and drank our beer, I counted 15 more racers come into the bar, all of which were turned away because they weren’t serving food anymore. While I thought this was a bad move from a business perspective — that is not why i gave this place 2 stars. My chicken tenders were super well done. Which I don’t mind so much, but was curious as to how they got so ‘well done’ in such a short period of time. He had requested mashed potatoes with his BLT — when served they were gritty and cold. He didn’t eat them and they ultimately took them off the bill. We do appreciate our server, she was pleasant and did not make us feel like a burden, however she was the only one who was that welcoming. Even the drunk guy sitting out in the parking lot swaying and smiling made us feel more welcomed.

It’s a great place at the heart of downtown. Right crowd and it is in walking distance with the base lodge. Must visit bar in Ludlow. Service is awesome, If you find otherwise just shout out«Tyler». They are open yearlong and parking is never a problem, most of time.

Well this was the first time for me and my fiancé. And being a fire fighter myself the décor was awesome. The menu of Scotch and whiskey is large and fun to choose from. We sat at the bar for our lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Bartender was attentive and inviting. Definitely will be visiting this place again. Gave me a reason to visit Ludlow vt again.

The food was very good, the staff was friendly and the place had a great atmosphere. The entire family enjoyed the music and all of the food. They are a bit pricey as being at base of Okemo, but worth the price. After reading reviews i did not expect much but food was good. The corned beef egg rolls were very good and highly recommend them. One son had burger, loved it, the other had shepards pie and equally enjoyed it. I had bangers and mash, real bangers, and homemade mashed. Wife had fish and chips ahe also liked. The menu is limited however. and the place is very small inside. Beers are pricey but decent choices, if they arent out of them. This is the best meal we had in the area and will definately go back.

The Killarney is located at the base of the entrance to Okemo. Visited it last year and was hoping for the same experience. We arrived to an almost full parking lot. When we entered we waited just a few minutes to be seated. Waitress was pleasant and attentive. Food on the other hand was a disaster. Order 12 dollar wings that you could have just picked up at the local Shaws and made them yourself. The pot o gold potatoes were stale 12 dollars for three and the pork appetizer was 11 dollars for 3 potatoes. The service was good and the live music is great but unfortunately the food let us down this time.

The restaurant is somewhat separated from the bar side which is nice if you want a simple and quiet meal. The location at the corner of the entrance road to Okemo is also nice. The meal: we had two servers approach is and try to start us, they didn’t seem to communicate or delegate stations very well. Once it was solved we ordered our meals. I had the soup of the day(Long Trail Potato) which was very bland. I wouldn’t order it again because it was thick and chunky, nothing like I expect from a good potato soup. My wife’s chowder was average but not spectacular. The meals then came… My meatloaf was tasty but could of used more sauce/gravy. My wife enjoyed the burger and the fries were great. We ordered a second round of drinks and the beer came out was warm. I can’t believe that a busy bar/pub has warm tap beer… It was a big let down. Also our server never returned after taking the order until we were done with our news. We actually had to ask the hostess to get another round when we wanted it. So in conclusion: Service: C Food: B Drinks: B Atmosphere: B+

Great service and not too kitschy atmosphere right off the Okemo mt. Not great food, but if you’re in the mood for a pint, and listening to the drop kick murphys after skiing, it could do the trick. Also looks like they have some live bands.

Killarney — you need to step up your game. I came here with a few friends for dinner after skiing Okemo earlier in the day. We were told that it would be about a 20 min wait, so we decided to hit up the bar while waiting for our table. The bar area was pretty cool, lots of fun décor and a decent selection of draft beers. Once our table was ready, we headed to our seats, and ordered a few appetizers for the table. When the apps came out, they were unceremoniously dropped off and we were left without plates for us to use to share them. So, after it became evident that no one would be coming back any time soon to give us plates, we ended up making due with the situation. I ordered the Chicken Jameson for my entrée. Sounds good, right? Well, maybe it might have been, had it not been fried into what tasted like an over cooked hockey puck. I had a hard time cutting through the chicken even though I was provided with a steak knife. Not cool, Killarney! Finally, when we got the check, we asked the waitress to split the bill evenly 5 ways. I was told she scoffed and seemed annoyed by this. However, isn’t that pretty common these days??? I guess the bottom line is that If you are looking to get a drink, The Killarney may be for you, but avoid the food!

The Killarney is exactly what you want in a mountainside ski bar. Live music, plenty of taps, «ski bum ambiance.» Certainly would stop here again for a drink. However, I would not choose to send you here for the food. Don’t avoid if you’re hungry, the menu just made everything sound better than it ended up tasting. The Guinness stew was our table favorite. Great to have something warm after a day on the slopes.

I like Killarney more as a bar/pub than a restaurant. Not that the food is not good, it’s just they are really good at being a bar/pub and just OK at being a restaurant. It is very spacious place, and they try to separate most of the«restaurant» from the bar. The long bar provides ample seating for eating or just drinking, and there are also some high tops and tables here too. The bartenders are really friendly and really fast with drinks. They pour the best Guinness in VT, and would rival some Irish joints here in NYC. Hats off to that. The prices also make me smile. $ 216 oz cans of Naragansett is a favorite of mine. They provide a lot of good, live entertainment. The nice thing is they are big enough of a place to support that without it being so loud you can’t hold a conversation. There are some TVs in the bar area, and they will turn on any sporting event that the bar population at that time wants… majority seems to rule. The TVs are not a focal point of this spot though, so don’t get it confused with a sports bar. As for the food, the burgers are inconsistent, but really tasty when they are on point. I think the biggest mistake I see here is overcooking. You have an amazing patty… why overcook it. The wings always smell fantastic. They give off the type of smell that instantly makes you crave wings. They back that up with great taste too. Probably the most consistent thing they put out… besides the pints of Guinness. Fish ‘n Chips, Fish sandwich… any piece of fish breaded and fried is a good option here. They do that well. The rest of the menu are bar and Irish favorites although the menu is a bit light on appetizers. The Killarney is easily our favorite bar in the area, and they will always make you feel at home here. Not sure how you get a «mug» here, but they also seem to offer regulars a house mug which is just awesome.
