Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen

Good food, clean restaurant but the waitress Jeanne was the worst. Never asked to refill our coffee or get another magarita. Took forever to get a to-​go box. Worst waitress we have had in a long time.

Cheddars is our go-​to for good food at a good price. Their food is consistently good, we never leave disappointed. I also like the variety of the menu, there is a good mix of things, which is why I choose this location if we are getting together with several people.

This was our first visit to a Cheddar’s Restaurant. The food was good and reasonably priced. We chose an off hour to go (2−3p.m.) and it was not crowded at all. My only complaint was with our waitress. She did not introduce herself, so I can’t give a name.
She delivered our meals and we did not see her again until she brought our check. Then she never returned to get the money. Good thing we were paying cash, as we eventually left the exact money on the table and left. We did tell the hostess the money was on the table, just in case. Go figure. We will return but will probably ask for a different section if that waitress is on duty.

I don’t usually leave reviews on Unilocal,or at all. But I had to take the time to write a good review for the Cheddars in Lufkin.
I was staying in Nacogdoches for the week, and ventured into Lufkin for dinner as there are limited options in the Nac.
We decided to stop in at this Cheddars, as we’re familiar with the cheddars where we’re from (Corpus). We were pleasantly surprised by the service we received from multiple staff, and the quality of the food. Some people think every location of a chain restaurant is the same, but that can be far from true. In this case, we were expecting average food and service and received so much more. My father’s white fish was cooked perfectly, and my salad was great. Food came out quickly even with a moderate crowd. If you’re in Lufkin and looking for good quality food at a very reasonable price look no further!

Consistent quality of food. Love the onion rings and baked potatoes. The vegetable platter is a decent value.

Just ate here and we had the best waitress. Her name is Victoria and she is an angle sent from above! I live in nac and will drive to here just for the service that she gave us tonight. Plus the food was phenomenal!

I stopped by with my coworkers on a business trip and since I’d never been, we ended up deciding to eat here. I had originally wanted to eat at chili’s next door because they have one of the best guacs that I’ve ever had. I regret that decision now. Oh guac, how I miss you and could’ve had you.
Basically, they had really poor service. First, they only gave us 2 straws when there was clearly 3 of us. Next, my string bean side was unusually sweet like they had added sugar and that made me iffy about eating it. My rice was also SUPER buttery and oily. In addition, my coworker’s burger was jipped of lettuce and the burger looked unappetizing. The only thing I liked about my meal was my salmon which was cooked pretty nicely. Then, our monster cookie which we had ordered along with our entrees took an EXTREMELY long time to come out even though we had told them to bring it out when we were finished with our entrees. I think it took like 10 – 15 min after we were done. Lastly, I thought they could redeem themselves with this cookie that would be warm, chewy and moist like BJ’s pizookie, but boy was I disappointed. I REALLY wanted to like the cookie but no matter what, I couldn’t. The cookie was flavorless and kind of dry. Basically, the cookie was dull and bad. I’m not sure I can even call it a cookie. The vanilla ice cream was honestly the best part.
Man, I thought Cheddar’s would be a restaurant I would start eating at back in Houston, but this experience killed that thought.

Not so good this time. Again stopped in while on a business trip, and ordered the Key West chicken and shrimp. The dry, overcooked chicken breast was the size of a pigeon’s and the rice portion was very skimpy as well. I certainly would not ever order that again! Vegetable sides were tasty (broccoli casserole and green beans), but we’re served cold. Very disappointed in the food quality/​presentation at Cheddar’s this time.
Guess I’ll try Chili’s again when I return to Lufkin.

Haven’t been to a Cheedars in awhile. Nice place friendly waitress but the meal was a bit disappointing. Napa chicken ciabatta sandwich had wilted decaying spring mix and no ciabatta — appeared to be a kaiser roll. Not much chicken. Fries were good though

Very surprised to see the number of reviews about lack of service. We have eaten here a number of times and have the opposite problem. I guess the management did address the service issues because now you can’t get the buggers to leave you alone. My wife and I talk before and during our dinner sometimes about personal things and we do not want to be constantly bothered with refills and check ups and questions. It’s got so bad here, that we have agreed to specifically ask our next waiter to NOT come back to the table unless we call him over.
The foot is consistently good and the service is good just too much. The place is clean and welcoming. That is why 4*s but the service overkill is 2* .
They just need to get the balance right. They need a better trainer.

Been here a handful of times, each time looking for a better experience. The last time did it for me and I won’t be returning. Horrible waitress that we could hardly ever get the attention of. I almost felt as if she was going out of her way to ignore us. She seemed more focused on one table and neglected the others around it. Took us over half an hour to get the check and another twenty minutes for her to return to run the card. It was just ridiculous. The food is okay but nothing worth the horrible service. I’ve been to other Cheddar’s restaurants and I’d advise you try those before wasting your time here.

Somehow, it never seems the same way you remember it. We used to live near Dallas and one of our favorite restaurants there was Cheddar’s. We were very much looking forward to eating at a Cheddar’s again.
The favored item was surprisingly — cheddar cheese soup. It’s no longer on the menu.
We weren’t too hungry so we both had something light, looking forward to having a great dessert. Sorry, it was OK, but not what we were hoping for.
The service was mediocre at best. We didn’t order anything fancy, and it took forever to get it.

If you’ve never been to a Cheddar’s before, it’s basically a Chili’s style family restaurant, but with food that’s a lot tastier. Their honey butter croissants (available as an appetizer for the table, or they come with salads) are evil and delicious. Justa save a couple hundred extra calories for them.
The salads are good, but they’re a little heavy on the toppings for me. Years ago when opening a new store for my company I stayed in town for a few weeks. We put it in a rotation so every night it was either Tokyo, Ralph and Cackoos, or Cheddars.

I have eaten at cheddar’s approximately six times. You will not find a better place with good quality food for a low price as cheddar’s provides. The food is GREAT and the prices are GREAT. The problem is the service. Getting something as simple as keeping ur drink refill is like pulling teeth. The servers seem to go out of their way to ignore you. They seem to busy flirting and grab assing with their co-​workers. So food excellent, customer service is lacking

This place is nice, your typical family-​oriented chain restaurant, it was pretty crowded on this day. I gave this place 5 STARS because, well dammit… the prices are just too goo to be true! The time I went here, I went with about 10 people and the nie people accomodated us very nicely; they made room for our big heads! The waitress was very courteous and professional. I ordered a Spasagna dish and it was da SHIT!!! I mean that in a good way, of course! Portions was definitely right. Almost couldn’t finish it, but I was a beast about it. I’ll definitely go back to this place… recommend.
