Sure will miss this place and it’s entire staff. Been coming here since date nights with my hubby from back in the old college days. The food never disappointed.

Food is okay. Waitstaff is friendly, but not attentive at all. Took 15 minutes to get a waitress. Then another 10 to get chips and salsa. I’m sorry, but my chip basket at a Mexican food establishment should never be empty!

The people are always super friendly, but the food is lacking. It’s either super salty and hard to get down, or bland… or cold. The complementary tortilla chips they set down while you wait for your meal were freezing cold, and stale. I ordered soft beef tacos and they were itty bitty and cold, also. If I were you, I’d go to Café del Rio.

Eaten here once in two years… I could make better at home. But pricing is cheaper than it’s competitors.

This place is hit or miss. I’ve been here twice for parties and the food was pretty good. I’ve been here with just me and my daughter and the food was not good at all and the service was terrible. There were maybe 4 other people in there and the waitress took forever to get our order, our drinks, everything and she was not friendly at all. There are much, much better Mexican or Tex Mex places to eat in Lukfin. The only reason I would ever go there again is for a party but I’ll never go there with my family.

Waited almost 5 mins for a hostess to even show up to seat us, once seated server took drink order, when she took our appetizer order(chicken nachos) brought out some nasty runny i guess it was guacamole with the nachos when asked for sour cream(standard with nachos everywhere in the world) she charged extra then when it was brought out almost 10 mins later after we had ate the nachos it was covered in lettuce NOLETTUCE was asked for. Ordered enchiladas chicken enchilada came out in a yellow corn stale tortilla same with the cheese enchilada that was filled with queso not cheese the beans were cold, when more chips were brought no salsa was brought. Desert was a stale brownie and ice cream.

The food was good, the service was outstanding. They make guacamole table-side, and even the manager stopped by to check in on us. Gotta love that. I didn’t realize it before we walked in, but I gather this is some sort of chain. Regional, perhaps? I’ve never seen it before. I had a chicken bacon lunch special. Nice to have something on the menu to choose from that’s somewhat healthy. The food itself was good, and was something that I typically wouldn’t expect from Tex-Mex places. Good selection of margaritas. Also, the margaritas are strong.

Love El Chico’s. Kathy always goes the extra step to make sure we are well taken care of!

Friendly staff, good Tex-Mex, but their fajitas could use some improvement. I really like the beef enchiladas here, good size, nice balance of meat/sauce/cheese without any of them over powering the others. My wife loves their enchilada soup, and almost always gets that when we dine here. Fajitas are just so-so, and the tortillas that come with them are just out of a package.

The staff was spectacular! Ask for Sheila! We were passing through and wished we lived in Lufkin; everyone is so friendly. The food is par for an El Chico. It’s below Pappasitos but way above Taco Bell, obviously. The Apple pie is my favorite and I usually get tacos al carbon, even though it’s not on the menu. If there’s something you want, staff is always happy to help you get it.

Food is typical Tex-Mex, which isn’t a bad thing. Probably would have given 5 stars but the service was slightly below par. Hostess who sat me did not speak, and my waitress was not really on top of things. But, not a particularly bad experience. Would go again.

Best of the varied but bland Mexican options in Lufkin. Service is quick and friendly, food is tasty, and though you’ll be able to detect canned tomatoes in the salsa it is tasty enough that you won’t care. I’m a big fan of their soups

Great! Order the tortilla soup it’s amazing. And their house dressing with tortillas. And their salsa with butter. Definitely a favorite. Wish there was one of these closer to home.

I enjoy this place. The food is good(Think Casa Olé with a little more variety). What I really want to rave about is the staff. When I was a vegetarian I dreaded eating out in Lufkin. We went here for dinner and when I asked what I could have that didn’t have any meat products in it, they actually volunteered to make me a «special» plate. It was good, and I was very happy with their customer service.
