Me and my husband tried this for the first time about 1 month ago. The food was good but the only complaint I have was the lipstick that was still on the glass he was given for his beer. He didn’t use it and just drank straight out of his beer bottle but I couldn’t help but stare at that dirty glass the entire time we were there, and made me wonder the cleanliness of our food plates.

I’ve eaten here many many times and it always excellent. Fish is always fresh and made exactly the same everytime I come. You must try the sake café roll.

Found this place on Unilocal. It was pretty good, great service, nice atmosphere. My coworker and I shared 3 rolls, the California, The Crunch and another forgot name. All very good, priced good. Recommend this place.

My husband and I ate here once becuse of all the reviews we where hearing from coworkers. We had salads and quite a few rolls of sushi. The food was excellent and we left feeling full BUT about an hour after we came home we both started vomiting and had bad cases of diarrhea :-(it lasted most of the night and it was horrible. We have never and don’t ever plan to returned here because that is something that sticks with you FOREVER. My husband wont even eat sushi anymore and he used to LOVE it. I will still east sushi but don’t plan on eating it here.

We were in town visiting and decided to stop to try this place. I felt it was reasonably priced for sushi. The Hubby and I decided to get the LOVE boat which was PLENTY. It not only had a boat load of sushi, but you got soup and salad with it also. The sashimi was so BIG I had to cut mine in half. VERY impressive and will def be revisiting next time we go back to Lufkin. If you ever feel like expanding, Greenville TX needs some good sushi! Restaurant was clean, staff was friendly and they had yummy sushi.

It is a small town and like everyone else on Unilocal seems to repeat… it’s pretty good overall! The staff and chefs were so friendly and accommodating. I ordered the sushi deluxe. They chef said the salmon(belly) was fresh and very good today. He didn’t steer me wrong — it was awesome! It just melted in my mouth. He even let me substitute it for the tuna. Keeping this one on the list for the next time I return.

Best sushi and sashimi in Lufkin! The white fish is amazing and the Sea Sea Roll is my new favorite. Try your sushi with a Japanese beer.

I have been coming to Lufkin for work every quarter for the last 2 years and this place has kept up with the service and quality. The staff is the same also and very friendly. The food is always good at a good price point for dinner. If you are in town, definitely a place to dine

Not to bad for a sushi place in Lufkin, Texas. As expected not as fresh, but can’t complain since we are in the middle of nowhere. The food from the kitchen is not as great. I would only come for the sushi. They are closed Sundays which inconveniences me for when I get a sushi craving. I would opt for the other Japanese restaurant in town.

Having been in Lufkin for about a week and consistently disappointed with the quality of dining establishments I thought I would really go for broke and press my luck with a sushi joint. Lo and behold, lady luck smiled upon me and delivered a fantastic sushi experience. The Lufkin roll with crawfish was very good, as was the sushimi deluxe. They have beer and sake available, as well as a variety of teas. I liked the décor: simple, a few paintings on the walls. They have a big screen TV in the back of the place, so you can keep an eye on sports or whatever. Service was nice, very attentive. All in all, will be coming back here.

First time to eat here. I ordered it to go, and was surprised by the size of the sack! can you say huge? When I got home I unloaded my order of Alaska Roll and a Salmon & Shrimp tempura Bento box. After pulling out 6 different containers of food plus condiments I began to eat with gusto. 30 minutes later not a single container has been fully emptied(and I never even opened the rice) and I couldn’t eat another bite if I had to. Pure Yumminess. There is no other description. I will be eating here again and again!

Nice atmosphere, small, attentive waitstaff, and good food. The menu has an assortment of sushi, soups and even some stuff for those don’t enjoy the«raw stuff.» They also have a decent selection of wines to go with the meal, but I have no opinion on this since I don’t drink.

Yup. Lufkin and sushi never use to mix. I read the reviews and I do agree. I’ve been to NYC. I’ve even been to Tokyo… and surprisingly Sushi is not a common food in Japan at all. Sushi is very expensive in Japan and really only rich people have the luxury to enjoy this type of food. The presentation was elegant yet simple. The Japanese are a minimalist type of people… so if you«jazz it up» you are technically un-authenticating it. Simply delicious and fresh.

This is the best Sushi restaurant I have ever been to. There’s not much on the menu I won’t eat and if you are looking for a tasty dessert, nothing beats their Ice Cream Tempura. The staff is friendly and courteous, plus, if you end up as a regular, they make sure you know how much they appreciate your continued business.

So here I am in the middle of Lufkin and I’m craving some sushi. Lufkin isn’t exactly New York City, so I felt like there was no hope. I went on Unilocal and lo and behold… Sake Café! I ordered the Naturo Roll, Tiger Roll, and Lufkin Roll. Surprisingly, all the rolls were pretty delicious. The Naturo Roll was made of essentially avocado and crab, and it was very refreshing. The Lufkin Roll was a bit on the spicy side for me, but good nonetheless. Three rolls are usually not enough for my girlfriend and I, but we were super full afterwards. Not a bad spot if you are in Lufkin and craving sushi.

Let me put«good sushi» and«east Texas» in the same sentence. Ready? Sake Café serves surprisingly good sushi in east Texas, and I’ve been here — twice. I couldn’t believe it the first time, so I had to return to make sure that I wasn’t kidding myself. Sake Café is the real deal for fresh sushi rolls. They have a great selection of traditional rolls and sashimi. The best part is that the rolls are average-sized(for a Californian like myself)! They are not store-bought-sized like what some restaurants serve! The Crunchy Roll is a must and getting a bento box most likely means that you will be leaving with leftovers. Sake Café is not a place that offers«an experience» or creative sushi rolls, but it’s a solid place to go get your sushi fix! ESPECIALLY in east Texas!
