$ 18.99 for a lobster roll ?!? …at an ice cream take-out joint… come on. OBVIOUSLY this place is a family run operation(and that is fine), but service should not suffer from it. The drive-in is basically managed by 1 adult in the back with a gaggle of teenagers up front. My personal experience here involved ordering a lobster roll then waiting over 20 minutes for it. Three other customers after me were served and almost done eating by the time my roll came. At one point(approximately 15 minutes wait) i was informed by a teenager that my order should be coming shortly… as she served another person who ordered behind me. Nearing the 20 minute mark i asked if i should order something different. The teens combined to inform me that they forgot to turn the«THING» on for my lobster roll. On a whim, i bravely asked what the«THING» was. Turns out It was the oven to warm up the lobster meat… and that is when i knew i had to write this review. Stay away from here, trust me. Super overpriced with mediocre food. There are several better lobster rolls for less money. That is a fact!($ 18.99!!) Did not try the ice cream, which might be OK, but ill never know. Certainly never returning here.

Paid a lot of money for ok tasting seafood. Onion rings were good and the scallops where good. But the three of us that had the clam strips got sick. I’m still ill this morning as I type this.

Chicken Fingers: pretty decent, I’d get them again. Onion Rings: pretty good, I’d get again. French Fries: awful, barely cooked. Fried Haddock: my husband got sick from eating it.

Food is very overpriced including the ice cream. Tasteless and the staff who work there don’t clean the tables or show any ounce of job enjoyment

I grew up in Lunenburg and this place used to be great. Went last weekend and waited over a half an hour for our food when it wasn’t even busy. We got the tiniest burger I’ve ever seen, it couldn’t have been more than an ounce, and the meal was $ 8. Disappointed, never going again

LOVE Conrad’s! The food is always fresh and cooked perfectly. Always sad when they close for the season.

I gave it one star for sentimental reasons, I went there with my Mom and Dad back in the 60s. It seemed ok back then, but it was probably because I didn’t know any better. The service is slow but the food is so bad that you appreciated the wait. I had to take my grandson to the rest room A portable type that was as disgusting a place as you could possibly imagine. Kimballs is cleaner, the food better quality and the price is the same. There is no choice but to go there. We will never go back to Conrads.

With a tag line«from our boats to your throat» this 1946 landmark is an unbelievable value for your wallet and delight to your taste buds. Over the last two weeks we have been here 3 times for lunch, each time was consistently first rate. Seafood is perfectly fried or baked, each being delicious. Staff, though young, is well trained, knowledgeable and polite. We are fans!

Stick to the fried food over Baked. As baked scallops were over breaded see the photo. Steamed veggies had no flavor and they forgot to give me the corn which was included in the meal. Steamers and lobster were delish. The lobster had eggs in it, guess that is the gamble anywhere with lobster… However,(another miss) we didn’t get lobster crackers & they don’t even start the cracking.

We have been to Conrad’s several times as we have lived in the area for over ten years. In truth, the place has gone downhill. First, the quality of the food itself is so so. Not horrible, but not the best and doesn’t match the prices. Second, wait times are really really bad. This has happened on multiple occasions. Once, they ran out of food, so we waited 30 minutes for. Lobster roll and never came. They did the right thing by refunding our money but still it was annoying. Third, as was pointed out by other posts they don’t take plastic which is crazy. Only those who have a bug wad of bills should enter. Finally, I just don’t get a sense of clean in there either. Ny server this morning was wearing a tiny shirt, smelled, and just looked like she needed a shower. Conrad’s is not horrible… But you can do a lot better in the area. With Kinballs so close now, Conrad’s needs to step up their game.

Tried to order something with my credit card only to find that they don’t take plastic. The atm that they have dose not work. And what i think is the owner through my money back in my face and told me to fuck of and don’t come back. The place should get shut down or get a new owner.

The fried seafood has gone considerably down hill. We’ve lived in town for over 12 years and this used to be a good place to go. But, my wife and I had the fried clams the other night and everything from the greasy batter, bland taste and strange flavored tarter sauce has definitely pushed us away. I hope they can turn things around since this is so close to our house.

This place couldnt be any worse if it tried. BOYCOTT. Last year I got deathly ill not once but twice after eating clams from here. I swore that I would never eat here again… Today, I was driving by with the kids and say their sign out from for 99 cent ice cream cones 12−3pm. It was 2:30 and the kids wanted a treat so we stopped. The little girl behind the counter proceeded to make three cones and I placed my 3 dollars on the counter. She handed us the cones and said it was $ 9.75! I told her that I wanted the 1 dollar cones, she appologized and said that was only for the kiddie cones. I looked at my 2 kids aged 3&4 shrugged and paid the $ 10 like an idiot. For 3 cones??? — I could have gotten 4 quarts of ice cream down the street at Hannifords for the same price. For the record, one child got a soft serve. Thats not even ice cream as far as I am concerned. The other 2 cones were supposed to be purple cow. It was tasteless and there were no white chocolate chips in it! This place is sad. I grew up here and it was always a great place to go. Now… Not so much. Do this place a favor and BOYCOTT them so they go under. Its time for new ownership.

I wanted to love this place! I really, really, REALLY wanted to love it. But I hate it. We have friends who moved nearby, and were very excited to try it out– it’s got the look of a GREAT place. Outside picnic tables, kind of a ramshackle, New England clam shack look to it. They serve fried sea food, burgers, and ice cream. It has all the ingredients for a great place to stop in on a summer day. Except it SUCKS. It’s terrible! The food is horrible. The service is horrible. The first time we went, my friends ordered fried clams, and my husband and I ordered hamburgers. Simple, right? Our hamburgers were ready in about twenty minutes, which was a pretty long time. Or so we thought, until it took FIFTYMINUTES for our friends’ fried clams to be done. We had ordered and paid all together, yet our order was doled our piecemeal– one burger, then another burger, then a loooooong wait, then one friend’s clams. It would have been nice to know when ordering that it was going to take nearly an hour to get our food. The food is terrible. How can you mess up hamburgers? The fries are lacking, the seafood is both expensive and sub-par. I honestly don’t understand how this place could be so bad. We tried the ice cream one time, hoping that maybe the ice cream would be decent, but my vanilla was freezer-burned and tasteless. It makes me sad that this place is so bad– it seems like the kind of place that would be perfect for a quick summer night meal, but every time I go I leave disappointed.

I went here last month beause a friend begged me to go before it closed for winter. We were both disappointed. We were greeted by a teenage girl texting on her cell phone leaning on the counter clearly not wanting to be there. She took our orders(fish and chips, scallops, and a grilled cheese). The cooks were high shcool boys… oour food took about 20 mintues. We chose to eat outside on the sap covered gross picnic tables. :/The food was greasy, old, and tasteless. Not the Conrads we remembered. We decided to get ice cream to get the taste out of our mouth… not a good idea. We had to deal with the same reluctant girl and our ice cream was frostbit.

I grew up on this summer go-to place and it has never failed me! Bless you Conrad’s and all your yumminess!!! Just pulling up makes me feel like an over-excited child on the verge of greatness, at my age there is very little capable of making me feel young and invincible again. From the light flakey batter to the quality seafood it encases, every bite is pure indulgence and mockingly tantalizing. I always want to order more but can never finish what I already have in front of me. I should rent a camper out front for next season…

Have only had the ice cream so I can’t speak for the food. The ice cream is ok and it seems that this year there are a lot less flavors than last year which is disappointing. The standard flavors are decent so if your driving by already its worth a stop, but I would never make a special trip here. It seems to always be packed though so go figure.

I had seen this place packed nightly this past summer, and was hopeful that there was actually a good seafood place out here. Being so far now from my favorite seafood restaurant, the Clambox, I was excited that I may actually find a place to hold me over until I could make the trek out to Ipswich. Man, was I disappointed. Portions were small — I think I actually could count the clams on my plate. The batter was terrible, very oily and flaky, and just had an odd flavor. I forced myself to finish the clams just because they were clams, but tossed the fries. My husband had the chicken fingers, and those too were subpar. We won’t be going back.
