I’m from NY and have been living in Mass for college for the past 4 years. I like to think I know good pizza and Embers is great. One of the best pizzas in Massachusetts. Definitely go out of your way to try it. Also, the service is phenomenal(Sam is an awesome server). However, the mozzarella sticks are not great, so stick to the pizza!

Ok, first off, others here are saying this is wood fired pizza and it is not. I’m sure they are saying this because the restaurant’s advertising is misleading, but if you ask they will tell you it is not from a wood fired oven. The biggest disappointment for me is that they advertise Neapolitan, but it’s not. Neapolitan is a very specific, regulated in Italy, pizza definition, and this wasn’t even close. See brief description here: . You’d think a restaurant would understand the significance of this in the pizza industry before using it in their advertising. I have to give them only one star for luring me in there using false advertising. Ok, so it wasn’t what was advertised, but there are lots of tasty pizza formulas so was it any good? No, unfortunately, there were many problems. The first and foremost being that the 18″ pizza’s we had were undercooked in the center. I should have known not to order 18″ pizzas and they should know not to make them. One pizza was a Margherita so it’s not like we ordered too many toppings. Also there was too much sauce on the pizza and being undercooked that made it a sloppy mess. The outer two inches were OK.(OK, as in tasty, but to be clear, not Neapolitan since they were very crunchy). Service was good, but the place was nearly empty so I can’t judge what it’s like when they are busy. Overall this was very disappointing and we won’t be going back.

Cool little place on lake Whalom in Lunenburg. Has some of the best pizza around! The service is always friendly and the beer is always cold. It’s not the hustle bustle of any traditional restaurants. They have a few small tables outside if the weather is nice but now that falls coming and the shipyard pumpkin head is out… Those tables will soon disappear.

Given their lakeside location and pretty good food, this place has great potential, but some poor service execution is holding them back. I visited on a Tuesday night around 6PM with my daughter and grand-daughter. There was one waitress covering both inside and outside. The place wasn’t packed, but there were too many tables seated for one Samantha. Embers does provide good value for the prices they charge. A Chardonnay and a Blue Moon were $ 5 each, and entrees are in the $ 12-$ 18 range. We ordered ½ salads(a nice option) Eggplant Lasagna, Spaghetti and Meatballs, and chicken fingers for the 7 y/o. Then we waited. After about 20 minutes our salads finally arrived, and Samantha apologized because all the food was coming at once. The food was all pretty good, but note it’s «Spaghetti and Meatball»(singular). My house salad had hardly any dressing, but Samantha was too busy to ask if we needed anything after delivering our food. Upon finishing I asked for the check. It took about 10 minutes, then the owner(I think) finally came over to take the check and my CC. Embers would probably get a 4 from me if they had the right amount of waitstaff and fixed their kitchen timing.

I grew up in the NYC burbs so I grew up on awesome pizza and italian and my friends around here call me a pizza snob, so temper my review with that. The pizza in this area, on average, is pretty poor(ducks). Having said that I have found a few places here and there that are good enough, this was *not* one of them. Sorry guys, I wanted it to be awesome but was disappointed. Pizza is serious business to some folks, but around here it seems like it’s treated as fast food. So the bar is already low, this was average for the area.

First, the menu is extremely pricey for the food we got and the place had a strange wet dog smell. It was twenty dollars for our two salads which were honestly a joke. I ordered the«mixer» salad which consisted of probably 5 slices of red onion a few grape tomatoes and spring lettuce for $ 9! Can you say rip off? I asked if I could get feta cheese on my salad when ordering it and they didn’t have any so they told me when they brought out my salad they don’t have feta. Nice to know when I get my meal. Since myself and my mom were still starving from our«salads» we asked if we could get some bread. At any normal restaurant usually bread comes with the meal no problem. Not here, it would of been an extra charge if we had wanted bread. Needless to say I plan to not return anytime in the future. The only positive part of this experience was our good server.

This is our second time to Embers, both in the shoulder season for lunch(one Spring and one Fall). Both times were remarkably similar. The first time we did not order pizza and I did not feel it would be fair giving a review until we had the pizza. Both days we were there were either too cold or rainy to eat outside on the cute patio, but that’s okay the inside is also a great space to eat. Embers boasts vaulted ceilings with huge windows that overlook route 28 and a cute section of Harwich Port. It’s a really nice dining experience. I’ll focus on our last visit since it’s fresh in my mind. Service was prompt and attentive. No complaints either time. Caveat being both times we were one of four of five active tables(with only one waiter). Lunch was Caesar salad and four small pizzas. The salad was surprisingly good. Very tasty with large Parm cheese shavings on top — unexpected and completely delicious. Pizzas were good, but not awesome. They looked amazing, but tasted flat. Honestly, I think we just ordered badly. We got the putanesca, buffalo chicken, meatball/pepperoni and ricotta/bacon/caramelized onion. The buffalo chicken had large chunks of chicken and not enough heat. The putanesca tasted just like putanesca — which was great for one slice but too much for a whole pizza not being shared(not their fault). We forgot to specify additional cheese on the ricotta so it was bland and the meatball was large slices — not what our son was looking for. Next time we will order a little differently and I think will be better off. I will update when we do. Side note, unlike may thin crust pizzas these held up well as leftovers. Surprisingly in fact, they tasted better as leftovers because the flavors developed. We will go back off season. Unless we really just had the off experience, I can not imagine waiting in line for this.

Embers is new to town, but so far it’s impressive. The food is really good, pricing fair. Our server was very nice and social. Clean fresh atmosphere. Nice gas fireplace in between the dining room and the bar.

I thought there was a few things missing from my experience at Embers. First I thought the patio was going to be on the water, like a deck. Instead it was across the street from the lake. The patio is tiny, only a few tables. The menu was tasty. A very good variety. I ordered a dinner, and I thought it should have come with a salad. I also would have liked a basket of rolls w/butter. The pizzas looked amazing. I wished I had ordered that afterwards. If I go back I’ll be getting the pizzas. 3 out of 5 due to the patio, & no sides with dinner.

The reviews about bad service initially put me off going here. But it’s new and I said what the hey. Glad I did. They now have a sign that says please seat yourself. My waitress was huddled by the computer when I entered but came over immediately upon seeing me enter. Our food was a little slow as we were the only ones there but I’d rather it be slow and correct than fast and incorrect. I had a burger, ordered it medium, and it came out medium! That rarely happens so when it does I take notice. My fiancée got a Cuban that looked good as well. We will be back to try the pizza So if I’m happy why not 5 stars? I was pleased but not overwhelmed. Once I try the pizza I’ll update the review accordingly
