Not sure if this place is still open. I went on April 2014. Had the best fried oysters and pulled pork sandwich. To top it off we ordered the rum apple cake. The best thing I had eaten in months. In fact, it is my memory of that pastry that prompted me to right this review.

We had the pulled pork sandwiches, they were good, not spectacular but sufficient. Then we ordered a piece of the apple cake to split and all I can say is OHMYGOODNESS!!! It was the best apple cake I’ve ever had. I’ve never had anything even close to it!!! If you are near you MUST go here and order the apple cake, you won’t regret it trust me. Asked for the recipe but unfortunately the waitress said they would never tell. :(

Girlfriend and I were staying in Luray and were looking for a good place to eat. Unilocal reviews of this place seemed promising. Reviews praised the crab cakes and I was looking forward to some good barbecue. We decided to get our food to-go. I came in, gave the order to the waitress, who brought us our food in 20 min or so. We ordered a half rack of ribs, fries, and the crabcakes. Crabcakes were edible, but bad. No lump crabmeat, skimpy, lots of filler. Fries were soggy and dense in the way that clearly indicates that the frying grease hasn’t been changed in some time. Ribs were atrocious – completely inedible – dried out to the bone and tough. I don’t know how old these ribs were or how long they had been sitting under a heat lamp. Neither my girlfriend or I could eat them. We threw the ribs and most of the food away. Still hungry, we both decided to order Domino’s Pizza despite horrible reviews of this location on Unilocal.Domino’s couldn’t be that bad; it’s all the same, right? We were wrong, but that’s a review for another place. Suffice to say, we went to bed hungry that night. It was a Sunday so I could only give them the benefit of the doubt and assume everything was leftover from the week and the lunch cook was in charge. The worst food/dining experience I have ever had. I signed up for a Unilocal account just to leave this review. If visiting Luray, ask the visitor center for advice on where to eat. Friends did that and were recommended Buck’s. They had a great meal

We pulled around back to park and found a garage spilling with junk and garbage, and the back door to a filthy kitchen. One of the cooks was smoking a cigarette and clipping has fingernails. Never made it inside.

Pulled off the highway looking for a quick lunch and found this place. We had the pulled pork sandwich and the beef brisket sandwich. Sandwiches were excellent, and piping hot temperature wise. They have an ok selection of beer too. We had the homemade apple cake… that was excellent as well. Great little spot… far superior to highway food.

It makes little sense to go to a barbeque joint for seafood unless you are in Luray. The barbeque here is good, but the sauce is storebought. The shrimp and oysters are a different matter. They are both fresh, lightly battered and fried to perfection(not over cooked). We lived in Northwest Fla. for ten years and this seafood is the equal of the old Penny’s or Boondocks in Panama City. That is saying a lot. Better than any fried seafood I have had in the DC area. It is worth a trip.

We went here after a day of hiking in SNP. The ribs and pulled pork were both excellent; a lot of smokiness. The crab cake was also quite nice, with a reasonable amount of crab meat and not an excess of stuffing.

PROS: Brisket was excellent. Ribs very tender. Waitress extremely pleasant and helpful. CONS: Pulled pork average, a bit dry. Grew up on Carolina pulled pork so I’m a bit picky and set in my ways on what is great pulled pork. Would have preferred a little more kick in the BBQ sauce. Sides were also average but edible. All in all everything was acceptable but since we’re from out of town we definitely won’t be back with all the other choices around.

My fiancé and I had excellent crab cakes here, and he is very hard to please when it comes to crab cakes! The atmosphere is a little dinky, but the food is great. I’d love to stop by again for lunch.

We’ve been here twice. Staff is very friendly. They always have fantastic fried oysters. The brisket is pretty tasty. The crab cake is actually made from crab :). On our last visit, I enjoyed a bacon cheeseburger with the most delicious sweet potato fries! Beware if you have a wheelchair. My son was in his manual chair both times. The ramp can be tricky to maneuver and the bathroom is not exactly wheelchair friendly… at all.

They ran out of pulled pork on a Thursday night! How is that possible… And then we overheard the waitress saying they ran out of pulled chicken, after she had just served us 3 measly pulled chicken sandwiches. Sauce was good but would have been nice to have a full meal.

This place moved over here from somewhere over by the Inn at little Washington I believe, I only say that because it took me forever to actually realize this and head in the correct direction. Friendly staff at this place, pretty standard BBQ kinda décor, nothing fancy. The BBQ was pretty good I believe. Nicely smokey, tender ribs, brisket was already sauced and sorta chipped which was less ideal in my opinion but still tasty. The sides we good not great. I don’t know that I’d seek it out, but if in the area it is certainly on the good option list.

Wow. Hard to chose between BBQ and seafood so we had both. Love the slow cooked pork and chicken smoked over cherry wood. And the crab cakes are the BEST we’ve ever had. Great crab flavor with no filler … Hard to beat. Don’t pass this place by.
