OK, Woohoo! As good as it gets! is relative here. But in terms of a chance to stroll back in time in new bowling shoes, to pay $ 10 for shoe rental and the chance to experience an East Coast tradition of Duck Pin bowling, yeah, it’s a five-star experience. The sign is misleading; I was expecting a parking lot, double doors, a front room featuring vending machines, a bowling ball cleaner machine, and a small arcade. What I found was a dirty, twisting stairwell with concrete steps leading to a signless door. I walked inside and found 10 lanes with really small pins. I was transported back to high school gym class, back before the internet and modern bowling alleys, when one had to manually calculate their scores. Duck Pin Bowling has smaller pins and strikes are few and far between(we had one in four games) so you get three balls per frame. The lanes were in decent shapes but the equipment was semi-manual. You had to push a button to reset the pins after each throw and the balls were returned to you via gravity. If you’re camping off of Skyline drive, grab some Mexican food down the road and head to the Luray Lanes for a few games. Ugh!

Ever tried duckpin bowling in a bowling alley that looks like it became trapped in time in 1950? If this appeals to you, you MUST visit Luray Bowling! After all, what else are you going to do here on a Saturday night? Games are $ 2.50 per person and shoe rentals are $ 0.75. The alley does not serve alcohol, but does have a small selection of soda … And … It’s fun!!! We had a great time! Come check this place out.
