I would strongly recommend that anyone who is considering going here or sending a loved one here check out their medicare ratings first. They are rock bottom for nursing. My uncle died almost immediately after having been transferred here. When I went to visit him shortly before that, though some of the people we encountered were nice, it was also clear that for the nurse who was primarily in charge of him – and who may well have been responsible for food getting into his lungs, which was the proximate cause of his death(this did not happen for 6 years in a better facility) – was very clearly trying to schmooze my family into thinking about nice happy things and not law suits. The physical facility is clearly in need of a lot of work – paper is peeling off the walls, and there are large areas that sort of look like they should be actively being renovated, but aren’t. And it was clear, when we arrived in the middle of the night to see my dying uncle, that someone had recently been smoking inside the facility near enough his room for there to be smoke in it – while he was there on oxygen, with pneumonia. If I didn’t feel that it would have a devastating effect on the living, given a number of particulars about what happened, I would have done everything in my power to get this place shut down. This is about what I can manage in a forum that isn’t on my folks’ radar and so is unlikely to be found upsetting by them. Unilocalers, as our generation starts having to deal with our parents ending up in nursing homes, I really hope we can learn from each other’s experience and continue to use this and other online reviewing resources to keep them out of places like this.
