Great Wines, Sketchy Location
We decided to travel the Patuxent wine trail today. The funny thing is that my cousin had been telling us all day about this scary winery she attempted to visit, but chickened out because she thought she as going to get murdered. When we pulled up today she started screaming «that’s the place!!!» I told her the only way she is going to conquer her fear is to face it head on. So we went ahead with it.
Be warned this place is a very odd looking home with Asian statues, 70s décor and the deepest swimming pool I’ve ever seen… minus water. The scraggly cat that lurks the halls at Hogsworth greets you when you walk around back (try not to fall into the pool… the walkway is narrow and there is no fence.).
Inside the atmosphere is equally as wtf, but softened by the employee Lori. She was so nice and chatty and we felt somewhat better standing in the house from Saw. She shared with us all of the yummy fruit infused wines and we never felt rushed. We ended up purchasing six bottles and then quickly made our way back to the car.
I was really surprised that a well known brand called this place headquarters. It’s worth a visit… at least you’ll leave with a story… and some wine!
