I have been coming here for years and I have never had a bad experience. The food is fresh, creative, thoughtful and upscale. My lunch today was the Chicken Satay wrap and was the best sandwich/wrap I have ever had. The outside wrap was somewhere between a panini and a more traditional wrap. It was toasted to perfection, slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Inside was chicken, lettuce, diced pea pods, carrot a few crunchy noodles and a very delicious peanut sauce that was rich but not sweet. It came with extra sauce on the side which allowed it to stay moist but not slathered in sauce. It also came with a small side of cucumbers. It was truly fantastic. The counter staff is always very pleasant and knows the menu front to back. The atmosphere is happening. Upscale clientele doing business deals and friends meeting. There are two dining rooms, the one up front is more crowed, the one in the back is more quiet. If you are looking for a great breakfast or lunch, this is a great place and if you like satay, get the wrap, it’s fantastic!

Holy shit did I not learn my lesson? I’ll wait another few years before going back… If ever…25 bucks for a piece of cake, cup of coffee, and an Indian flavored chicken salad. Maybe as good as Panera– absolutely no better– at twice the price!!! I should describe– for thirteen bucks one very small boneless chicken breast– spice was good, but no more than 4oz tops… On top of plain shredded iceberg; two small slivers of cold clearly store bought flat bread, small pile of cucumber, red onion, hothouse tomato lightly dressed with vinegar and oil; small 2oz of sweet chutney, 2oz good tzatziki. That’s it. I had more sauce than food! For a bakery give me a big piece of fresh naan dammit! Coffee was good but over two bucks? Them 8 bucks for small coconut snowball cake. It was cold, tasted mostly of sugar and cream cheese but I needed the calories! In fact Panera would have been superior– far superior! At half the price. Even though my new doc is in building convenience not worth feeling ripped off and hungry!

Eh. I am from out of the area, so I thought I would try a local place instead of mainstream for lunch. Easy to order online and very friendly. But YUCK. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and a small drink: dropped $ 17. I don’t pay paying a little more here and there but for the quality def not worth the money. My Caesar salad was average at best. Basic lettuce crotons and tiny proves of Parmesan. BUTBIGGEST problem was the dressing dear lord, ask for ANYTHING else but their Caesar. It’s creamy, thick mayo mixed with garlic and some other ingredient. NOT your traditional salad. Take your Zantac and don’t expect, bc you will be disappointed. I just feel if I’m paying so much then it should be a great meal… Not the case

Hidden in the Greenspring Station shopping center, Stone Mill is located inside the small shopping mall area, walking distance from Pavilion I and II and kind of across the large parking lot from the gym. I discovered it on one of my many visits to the Wilmer Eye Institute. So at least now there’s one enjoyable thing about going to the doctor! It’s a little hard to find, but if it’s lunch time just follow the crowd of well-dressed folks. It is obviously very popular with the stay at home and retired crowds, and there has been a line(not unbearable) every time I’ve gone. They offer an impressive array of fresh sandwiches, soups, and pastries. They keep menus of the specials at the counter so pick one up to peruse while you stand in line. Many options. I’ve had the tomato basil soup, which was great. I also tried the pulled pork sandwich which was a special that day. It was tender and delicious, with a smokey-spicy-sweet sauce that was really good. It was served with coleslaw, which was very minimally dressed. I’ve also tried an apple tart, which was fantastic. Amazing crust and an almond/custard(?) layer under the apples. They also have prepackaged their soups and baked goods for easy purchase. Coffee was good, too. Service is extremely pleasant: the man who is usually at the counter(owner?) is very friendly and attentive, and he makes an effort to chat with everyone. The food can take a few minutes to come out(10 – 15 for takeout) but not awful, and worth it for the delicious food and kind service. As a side note, I can’t believe how many other reviews compare this place to Panera. That doesn’t seem fair to me. Other than the fact that they both have lunch food, they are nothing alike. Stone Mill has a thoughtful and creative changing selection of food with interesting and high quality ingredients, and freshly made baked goods and pastries, and Panera food(while admittedly tasty) is all the same with no real craftsmanship. When was the last time you got bahn mi or homemade granola at Panera? Not. The. Same. UGH.

Great atmosphere and food selection. They make all their bread and pastries by hand. However, it is a little too pricey for me, especially for the portions — I got a Thai chicken wrap one time and it came out to $ 14 with nothing else added, and it wasn’t even that large of a portion, although it was very tasty. The lines at lunch are out the door most days. There’s ample outdoor seating with lots of families with kids who climb all over the turtle statues outside. I do wish Stone Mill would be more transparent about pricing: I work inside the building and should get a 10% discount but they rarely apply it, even when I specifically ask. For a place that I assume makes as much as it does, I wish they were a little bit flexible with pricing.

How could you not give this place 5 stars?! The man behind the counter who I am assuming is the owner might be the nicest and happiest man I’ve ever met. As I sat drinking my delicious coffee and eating what tasted like the freshest bagel ever! I just listened to his positivity toward customers, it was so wonderful to hear! Wish I lived closer and could come support the stone mill more often!

Their food is fine. Are you a middle aged woman with literally no budget? You’ll definitely like it here. Having moved to NY I’m realizing more and more how ridiculous this place is. $ 16 for a small sandwich? Oh yes, definitely, you should just see how great it is. How about a side salad, since you’re watching your weight right? We’ll charge you $ 17 for the privilege. You should be thanking us. Have you tried our famous $ 5 individual brownies? You deserve a treat… I really don’t like them, in case that didn’t come through, just because I feel like they’re taking advantage of people. I make a point to not go here when I’m in town. Maybe when I’m 20 years older and a mother of three I’ll head over. Until then, I recommend staying away.

Price aside, everything is good. Everyone is very friendly. The food is always fresh and has a certain European feeling to it. I love their soups. You can always get them in the ready freshly prepared containers to go.

My friends and I came here for dinner tonight and had a really nice time! This was, of course, once I actually found the restaurant.(If you’re unfamiliar with Greenspring Station it can be a little confusing, at least in my opinion. I wandered around for a solid 5 minutes before finding Stone Mill, so everyone sitting outside at Tark’s was probably laughing at me!) They have some foods to-go, including an impressive array of baked goods that all looked delicious(including some really yummy looking granola) and several different varieties of soup in a refrigerated case. The menu reminds me of an upscale Panera — sandwiches, soups, salads, and several other things that sound light and fresh and delicious. The cashier, Daniel, was really cool and patient with us as we asked a bunch of questions about the menu and were indecisive. I ordered the soup and sandwich combo, with chicken noodle soup(to nurse my poor allergy ridden scratchy throat) and half of a tomato, mozzarella and pesto sandwich on wheat bread. Stone Mill is pricy, probably due to the quality of their ingredients. Still, there was some sticker shock — my soup and sandwich combo along with a Snapple came to $ 18. Ay caramba! When they brought our food out I initially had buyers remorse. One of my friends got the turkey powerhouse sandwich and it looks INSANE. I looked down at my pitiful little soup and sandwich and wanted to run back to the counter to say I made a mistake. I’m so glad I didn’t, though! The chicken noodle soup was fantastic — lots of seasoning, big tender pieces of chicken, just the right temperature. It legitimately helped my achy throat and I really enjoyed it when the truth is that I ordinarily don’t even like chicken soup all that much! The sandwich is also really interesting. On its face there’s nothing particularly unique or interesting about it. I eat a lot of mozzarella and pesto sandwiches and they’re generally all good because it’s such a difficult thing to mess up. Something about this sandwich, though, was different. When I was in college I spent a summer in Rome, and something about this sandwich was very reminiscent of what I used to eat almost daily in Italy. I don’t know if it was the crusty bread or this particular pesto, but it made me very nostalgic! So I thank them for that! The restaurant has a lot of really cool artwork hanging on the walls, and a little library with a bunch of cool books that we can presumably borrow for some light reading while we eat. There’s some really nice outdoor seating, as well. I don’t love that the bathroom is like less than 10 feet from where people order, but I don’t know if they had any control over the layout of the space. Also, on our way out right around the time the restaurant was closing, one of my friends went to buy a blondie and the guy behind the counter asked if we wanted to take home some bread that they had to get rid of once they closed for the evening. So we got to take home a bonus French baguette! If only I had more of that chicken noodle soup to enjoy with it…

It was okay, but not worth $ 13.95 for the chicken avocado BLT. The best part of the sandwich was the bread and bacon, not much flavor otherwise. Plus the chips they gave me were burnt.

Best thing is warm greeting and service from man at counter. I wish I had asked his name. He is such a delight and so welcoming. Ate here quite often when I had regular doctor appointments at Greenspring. Wonderful selection of fresh tasting meals. Loved their pancakes and omelets. Went back before annual appointment and enjoyed creamy spinach and feta quiche with fruit cup and a tiny salad. Gf enjoyed brisket panini on delicious looking bread with their homemade potato chips. Vast selection of hot teas; loved the Breakfast in Paris black tea.

Went here today, had the cuban sandwich. They said it’d take 15 minutes to make, but it came out sooner. Underpromise, overdeliver. They nailed it. The sandwich itself was large, and tasty. A little too much mustard, but overall quite good. The kettle chips were also a win. What was not a win was the price– $ 15 for a sandwich? In NYC maybe, but in Timonium? That’s a lot of money. Service was very friendly, and prompt. I’ve heard it gets busy at lunchtime, but we walked right up to the counter and found a seat easily. It’s pay at the counter, and then they bring your order to your table. Good for kids and casual lunch dates for sure. But I can’t get over the pricing.

(4÷30÷2014) Was pouring cats and dogs and needed some sustenance quick after a doctor’s appointment at Greenspring Station. Stone Mill was open, not busy and had to-go at 3:00 in the afternoon. Without thinking, ordered a Turkey Powerhouse and Tomato Basil Soup to go. The very friendly counter person offered me an ice water while I waited(which wasn’t long), then rang me up for $ 20. Whoa, that’s some serious sticker shock. It fits the clientele though, I mean, it’s some serious WASP-y, Stepford territory. Sandwich had some nice, quality turkey breast, looked whole roasted and carved, on a chewy onion roll with spanakopita topping, alfalfa sprouts, cheese; decent size, but dry as dust. Tomato Basil Soup was tart, tomato-y, not sugary, nice aroma of basil, well-seasoned 12 oz. cup. Cute place, service was efficient and friendly(but it was dead in there, can’t say what they’re like when they’re busy), but jeez louise was it pricey. Was it worth it? Not really, but if you’re starving, what it’s worth to you?

This place is great! Since they don’t offer gluten free bread, the manager offered to make a custom salad for me. Greens, sprouts, tomatoes, cucumbers, roasted peppers and hummus. All of the sandwiches and salads looked delicious. Nice upscale lunch spot. Small and intimate. Awesome!
