John’s Butcher Shop

Great butcher shop. Never had anything less than ideal from these fellas. Enough homemade sausages and skewered meats to keep it interesting. Make sure you get BONES for your DOG while you’re there! They’ll sell you whole raw femurs will a bit of meat left on them and all the marrow still inside for less than half of what pet shops charge for crappy, flaky, cooked ones (raw bones are best for dogs, btw). Your dog will love you forever…

I love johns butcher shop. It’s an unassuming little shop just off US 41 in Lutz. I’ve lived in the area for fourteen years but had never stopped in until a few months ago. I was actually looking for a local butcher that carried grass-​fed, no hormone beef and poultry. The meats are fantastic but I also discovered that they made sandwiches as well. The burgers are awesome. Juicy and flavorful and best of all… affordable! They have Cubans and porkchop sandwiches and even grilled cheese. They don’t have a dryer, so they don’t offer fries but that okay. The burgers make up for it.

Not impressed at all. After multiple people on a community forum said John’s was the place to go for good quality meats, I had to give it a try. Walking in I wasn’t greeted, even though there were 2 men working and no customers. I looked at the limited selection while one of the men came over and stood in front of me, still no greeting. I ordered 3 steaks– no offer to let me pick which ones and no communication with me except for asking if I wanted debit or credit during the entire interaction. I left unimpressed and out $ 25 for what probably wasn’t more than a pound of meat. When I got it home and opened it up, the bottom of each steak was brown. Needless to say, I will not return and the search for a good butcher and quality meat continues.

Welp it’s been done. Oakleys Grill has been over run by Johns Butcher Shop for number 1 burger in the Bay Area. Who hoo congrats to John’s. Tender, flavorful, juicy, did I say flavorful? I normally slather my burger with condiments but this burger is so good I don’t even want condiments. Crunchy bacon charred edges of fantastic ground beef. The bun is soft and holds everything in place. Just a fantastically constructed burger. The best plain and simple. My beautiful wife tried the Cuban, traditional and while It wasn’t the largest sandwich we’ve eaten it was certainly the most flavorful. The meats were different in some way not over salted flaps of rubber but seasoned nicely. Johns Butcher Shop has risen to the top of our lunch list. Thank you for a great experience.

Growing up when I was in High School I would come here almost everyday and have them make me a burger.
It was normally a ½ pound with cheese and onion. I can honestly say that it might be in the top 10 burgers I have ever eaten which is why im sure I ate one almost every day after school. I haven’t been there in awhile but im sure it hasn’t changed. I remember one day John made me 1 pound burger which I cant believe I finished. lol
They are also a full butcher shop so you can get really good quality meats there.

Good little family meat shop with GREAT backyard burgers at good prices. No frills kind of place. Got some ribeyes (can’t remember grade) to cook at home and they were decent. Bacon is excellent with burgers or for taking home for whatever. They also have pre-​marinated meats and shish kabobs with chicken, steak or shrimp and some other little goodies you can just pop in the oven for a quick no hassle meal. Oh and it looks like they grind the ground beef daily so that is probably the reason the burgers taste so good.

VERY friendly, family business. You can get raw meats for your freezer, or cooked burgers for lunch. Everything is highest quality and prices are just right!

Awesome butcher shop with interesting cuts of meat and varieties of sausages. They will cut everything to your specifications. The hidden gem here is the delicious bacon cheeseburgers they make! They cook it slow and load it up with cheese and bacon. The meat is super fresh and this unlikely place might have the best burgers in tampa. Just sayin.
