Have to say that this place is wonderful. Great setting, great food and lovely staff. When you go, pray that Brianna is your server. She is knowledgeable and has a great personality. She makes you feel like you have been coming there for years and are part their family.

New chef and updated menu. Days later, we are still raving about our meals. They typically have fish & chips as one of the Friday evening specials. I pondered this, wanted fish, but didn’t think I wanted that much fried food. Don’t get me wrong — I LOVE fish and chips, just wasn’t in the mood this particular evening. So I spotted something interesting on the regular menu: CODAUGRATIN with flash sautéed spinach, bacon vinaigrette. Your first thought with«Au Gratin» might be something along the lines of a cheesy, saucy comfort food casserole — not so. The succulent piece of cod is baked, with a crispy cheese topping. I’m not a fan of cooked spinach, but this was delicious, the bacon vinaigrette really transform the dish. The food at the Lyme Inn is exceptional, but let’s not overlook the rest of the experience — beer, wine and cocktails really deliver. Currently loving Hells Half Acre(I believe that’s the name). Jack is always there with a smile. In fact, «if you haven’t been to The Lyme Inn, then you don’t know Jack».

Definitely as good as it gets. The quintessential New England fall setting. The Lyme Inn is framed by gorgeous fall leaves out of every window with beautiful and peaceful views. Dinner was extraordinary with generous portions, fabulous desserts and a full bodied cappuccino to complete a wonderful evening. Breakfast is just as enjoyable. I had Greek yogurt with fresh berries and granola. None of those frou frou yogurts, genuine unadulterated Greek yogurt! The interiors are decorated with rich colors, beautiful and charming paintings of cows… and I LOVE cows! The service was attentive without being intrusive, sincere, and knowledgeable about the menu. The rooms are clean, tastefully decorated and homey. Modern touches and beautiful updated bathrooms. Hailing from Hawaii, the Aloha State, we are spoiled to service and«aloha» and I truly felt at home. EVERYONE is hospitable, kind and attentive. I do not want to leave. If you are looking for that«special spot» to enjoy New England, look no further. Thank me later!

I visited with a friend staying here tonight, and had dinner w/her at the restaurant. The food was fantastic. The bread they serve was a soft foccacia, seasoned with black sesame as an added twist! Appetizer: cauliflower pancakes. We expected them to be thin but they were definitely more«cake» than pancake. Think about 1.5 inches thick. Delicious! I had the salmon – I specifically asked for it on the rare side and it was done to perfection. The fried goat cheese didn’t feel heavy in any way, and this dish was served over gold/red beets. Delicious as well! I would give this 4.5 stars versus a full 5. My deduction is due to the waitresses seemingly being a bit confused about which table was getting which food but the food was really great and they have lovely outdoor, semi outdoor and indoor seating.

Beautifully appointed rooms in a quiet country inn. Warm, friendly staff welcomed us and helped with every question. We’ll definitely be back!

I have mixed feelings about our stay. The room was lovely. The bed was awesome and the pillows may have been the most comfortable non feather pillows I have ever had the pleasure to experience. In fact, I’d love to know the name of the pillow and where I could get similar ones. However, we were really disappointed in the quality of the housekeeping the room received during our stay. After the first night when we got back to the room after being out all day our garbage had not been emptied and our bathtub was not well cleaned.(I have very long curly hair and after I shower there is always hair that remains behind in the bathtub drain… this hair had not been removed.) The second morning our waitress, who is also housecleaning staff, asked us how we were enjoying our stay. We specifically told her of the problem. She assured us it would be taken care of. We got back that night only to find that the garbage had again not been removed and the bathtub drain had not been cleaned. For more than $ 200 a night that is very disappointing. The other problem is that the breakfast menu is very limited. While the food was okay, after the second day I was pretty bored with the selection.

We had a lovely weekend stay at the Lyme Inn. It was recently completely renovated and the rooms are comfy and beautiful with spa bathrooms. The breakfast is also delicious! This is a great place to stay and ski at nearby Dartmouth Skiway(which is a lovely, inexpensive, and uncrowded place to ski).

My wife and I just returned from a two night stay at the Lyme Inn. It turned out that a new owner just took over management. The place is beautiful and the staff so welcoming and warm. We were even invited to a reception the following night at the Inn for the Lyme Foundation which supports the town. After returning from dinner the following night we apologized we had not been able to make it. The proprietor nonetheless opened a bottle of wine and poured us a glass each! Also the breakfasts are amazing and the rooms cozy and perfect! This place is a must and very close to Dartmouth College!

A wonderful experience, start to finish. We were five for dinner, were greeted warmly and attended to promptly. I started with the soup special, one of the best corn chowders I’ve ever had(but super-rich, despite being described as light). Two of us had pad thai — it’s not a Thai restaurant so normally I would not have ordered this, but it came highly recommended so I gave it a shot. Fantastic! Two in the group had steak and said it was excellent. Service was attentive and the building is gorgeous. The company was wonderful, so all in all… a great night!

We’re regular visitors and have consistently good dinners with friendly service. Last month, we invited 22 friends to a birthday party. Chef Armen Poghossian’s superb meal, pastry chef Cindy Cameron’s birthday cake, and manager Dan Wilson’s planning contributed to a memorable celebration.

Stay away!!! We were visiting family in the area. Eight of us arrived for dinner at 6:45PM. Food did not arrive at table until 8:15PM. When we arrived, there were only six other people in the restaurant. No explanation for the slow kitchen even though I discussed the situation with the new manager. He was less than helpful, frankly he seemed quite confused. While the food was good(not great), the service was horrible. For that reason, I can not recommend this as a place to dine. Go somewhere else.

Don;t do it. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with the Lyme Inn restaurant. We went last night on a recommendation from friends and aside from a few tasty appetizers, the experience was awful. Lousy service, slow kitchen, bland/cheap décor, drink mistakes. I could go on. If you are looking for charm and quality go elsewhere. Don’t be fooled by the bucolic picture on the website.
