Eric was extremely helpful in my decision about what entry level mountain bike to get and basically crash course mountain biking 101 in 30 minutes. They’re a wicked friendly staff and have good rental bikes. Prices are good and value is great. This is the place to be for reputable, knowledgable bicycle enthusiasts in Virginia!

I am from out of state and stopped in to check if they had my shoe size. They didn’t have my size, but spent lots of time with me explaining all the local trails. Then they let me use their bathroom to change into my cycling clothes and ride the trails that run next to the shop. Great people!

I’ll start with the positive. Their downtown location is cool — great building and interior. Does it say something the only good thing I can report about Bikes Unlimited is in regards to the inanimate building? I interacted with three separate employees. The first was condescending about my old and beaten-​up bike that I was interested in getting repaired. The second freely admitted that he knew nothing about the store’s (rather limited) stock. The reason he gave for one seat costing more than another was that it was «better.» How it was better he did not know. The third seemed totally uninterested in selling me a bike, maybe because I was looking at the used bikes. I suppose if you’re a serious biker and into the best and brightest in bikes and accessories, you might receive good treatment at Bikes Unlimited. If you’re like me and only want a basic, no-​frills bike to ride on Blackwater Creek Trail, I can’t recommend this business.
