Very poor quality. All the sides we ordered tasted like they had either just come out of a can or a box. Two of the biscuits were way overcooked while the third was undercooked. All in all a very disappointing meal. We were told that they had run out of the special for the day. Makes it real obvious you’re not cooking from scratch when you have chicken but can’t make the chicken fried chicken special. Service was disappointing as well. Drinks constantly getting empty without refills. Limited checks by the server. Had to ask for items multiple times.

Cracker Barrel pancakes. YES! Two things I get really excited about 1. Mellow mushroom pizza and 2. Cracker Barrel pancakes. All you who’ve given this establishment a bad review have taken it for granted. As a California native who doesn’t have easy access to Cracker Barrel pancakes, SHAMEONYOU!

Tastes like every other Cracker Barrel, yes. Maybe I’m just cursed, but every time we go in here they either don’t have what we order or we wait and wait and wait. Our party of 2 just got up and left after an hour of waiting BEFORE the after-church crowds were out and about. and after watching 4 or 5 tables that arrived after us get served. Get your stuff together, as for us we’re done.

Old-timey food and gifts Cracker Barrel is one of those places where, for whatever reason, we love to go to get a taste of the good old days. Like most locations, this one is always jumping with people eating pretty heart meals that are mostly carb-heavy but tasty. I tend to just go here for breakfasts — especially when I have out of town guests visiting– it just goes over well with them. Service can be pokey at times and it is hit or miss on getting a continual flow of coffee — sometimes they just get slammed and there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. In any case, the food is solid, if not mind blowing. The kind of meal that fills you for a good portion of the day. All in all a solid 3-star kind of place. Worth a shot if you are int he area and looking for a decent meal that isn’t going to break the bank. Lots of stuff to browse in the old-time store portion that you have to walk through to get to the food. Parking in front.

If you have a larger party you might want to go some place other than this Cracker Barrel. When we arrived we were told there would be approximately a 45 minute wait. We stood directly in front of the hostess stand in excess of an hour and a half. When my niece went to the hostess stand to check the status of our wait time, not only was the hostess rude but really didn’t care that others had been seated, eaten their meals and left. She replied«my bad». Who does that? What manager would allow that? This manager did and really didn’t care about the lack of service we received. When I went online to submit my concern to the home office the very first question on the form was«Do you feel that your dissatisfaction was based on racism». What a bad way to start an inquiry. I guess they are used to this type of complaint. Never again!

Today we had the worst experience ever, service was lousy, manager could not even write the order so the kitchen could read it.

Do not waste your time here! By far, this was the worst Cracker Barrel experience I have ever had. The pinnacle of incompetence is shared between the«4 star» hostess and the confused, disheveled manager. 45 minute wait to pair a round table and a small square table for a party of 11. Over 50 other guests were seated while we awaited this geometrical marvel of table configuration. Our food arrived in 3 distinct phases over 20 minutes. Never again Lynchburg Cracker Barrel.

Different city, but still the same thing as I have been seeing at other Cracker Barrels lately! Food not prepared accordingly order and poor service. After placing my order, I never saw my server again until she brought the check. I am still waiting for my second cup of coffee! I order the country ham, cooked well and again, did not get it that way! Hash brown casserole was on the cool side, as were the eggs!

I have two kids attending Liberty University and make frequent trips between Richmond and Lynchburg. Cracker Barrel is convenient to the campus and affordable to take out a bunch of college kids for breakfast. I usually get the biscuits and gravy or one of the pancake options. When in season, the blackberry pancakes with fresh blackberries and a blackberry syrup is amazing! The wait staff are friendly and attentive. We usually ask for the tall waiter, Taylor. He treats my younger kids just like a big brother… that’s because he is their big brother.

Cracker Barrel is a touristy restaurant chain which stresses sales of lots of stuff besides food. The«waiting area » is a room devoted to sales of «gifts», from soap to t-shirts. They have old varieties of soda, old style candy and even candy bars you thought were not on sale any more. Gingham Aprons, scented candles, calendars, cookbooks and Bill Gaither gospel and various country CD’s are also available. You get the picture. While you wait for a table, there are wicker rocking chairs out on the pleasant verandah. the chairs are also for sale, at rather reasonable prices, by the way. So, when your name gets called,(we waited about ten minutes) clean and pleasant young people show you to a «country style» wooden table in one of the large dining rooms and an equally pleasant server introduces him/herself. The servers at this particular outlet are probably for the most part the well-scrubbed students from nearby Liberty College. We had a fellow who looked just like a 20-year old Ron Howard, had Ron been a Mormon missionary. He had an appealingly bright Southern manner and a well-cultivated mustache so he wouldn’t look like Opie. Very pleasant and helpful. Service was fast and courteous and all the prices seemed very reasonable, probably due to the offset provided by the gift shop sales. The tables were a little close together, I thought. I had a special dish served only on Saturday, chicken with rice. It was surprisingly good and the only drawback was that it was a but too loaded with onions. There were large chunks of white meat chicken in a nice gravy of mushrooms. I was offered two sides, so– figuring the place was a Southern institution, I got turnip greens and fried okra. Both favorites of mine. When in Rome… order the local special. They were both done well, altho I never encountered roast beef shredded in my greens– maybe it was pork, I dunno. My companion had a breakfast combo and she commented upon the quality of the bacon and the perfection of the eggs’ preparation. She also liked the cheesy hash browns. They had some berry cobbler that looked great but we didn’t have room. They have the«mixin’s» for the stuff in the gift shop. One drawback from an otherwise good experience was the noise level, but we were there on a Saturday at noon so the crowd was understandably loud. So far as I could see there was no alcohol available. The decorations on the wall, country prints, old photos and the usual signs and farm implements were interesting if not unique. I’ll go back, but probably at a little less crowded time, but Cracker Barrels always seem crowded. A tip-off to a probable crowd is the sign at the parking lot entrance–«Bus parking in the rear.» Y’all go and have a good time, but leave your«Yankee big city sophistication» in the car.

My wife had graduated from Liberty Univ. last weekend(5−12−12) and her parents had come to see their daughter graduate. They needed to go to a Wal-Mart to get some meds and we were hungry and next door was a Cracker Barrel. Everybody in our party enjoyed their selection but me; man, what a waste of money for a burger and onion rings. The onion rings weren’t all that great but the burger was the worst burger I’ve EVER eaten. As dry as a desert in the summer. The bread seemed stale. I realize that Cracker Barrel doesn’t specialize in burgers but c’mon, a burger shouldn’t be that hard to make. Won’t be going to a Cracker Barrel anytime soon.

A delicious way to start your morning. plus if you have out of town guests that want country cooking, this is a great option. Real comfort food happening here with a cozy fire place. Their pancakes are knock out good. where wlse can you get a mega breakfast(ham, bacon, sausage, grits, eggs, hasbrown caserole, pancakes lol) all in one order if you are that hungry. Plus the country store has so many old school items in it that you will be taken back to your childhood memories.

I haven’t found many great breakfast stops in Lynchburg yet… we like those classic«hole in the wall» sort of places with great breakfast. Cracker Barrel will do just fine until I find that place. It’s always the same… decent food… ok price… fast service.

It was the day after Thanksgiving and this place was busy! Nevertheless, the food was good and the service was good. The folks in the gift area were very nice and engaging. My wife had Salisbury steak, I had a burger and our daughter had Mac-n-cheese, which were all delicious. Our server did pretty good keeping up with it all in crowded conditions. My only complaint would be the seating arrangements. There is very little room between the tables for anyone to move. When you get up, you hit the person’s chair behind you. The waitress also had trouble moving between the tables too. Cracker Barrel ought to go ahead and put in family dinning«long tables» and benches, since you nearly sit on top of the table next to you and can hear everyone’s conversation anyway.

This place is LOUD! Great for breakfast all day and large dinner portions… if you don’t mind the noise. I like there food and come here once every other month or so, but man… why is it so loud in here? It stays very busy on the weekends due to serving breakfast all day I am guessing and for some reason the layout of this restaurant makes it seem very noisy. Also, the staff seem to throw the dishes all in together in the bucket making all kind of racket. As for the food. It’s decent, country cooking. I am a huge fan of their chicken and dumplings(aka. uncooked biscuits with gravy). I have never had anything here that I didn’t like, but nothing is spectacular, just consistently decent food. Stop by if you are looking for a decent meal and a good price in a very casual atmosphere.

It’s a Cracker Barrel. It serves Cracker Barrel food. They sell Cracker Barrel Cracker Crap in the gift shop. It’s a Barrel o’ Crackers.
