Closest thing to authentic British tea this side of the Americas. Pat, the owner and our tea sommelier Whitley took care of my family for Afternoon Tea like we were the Royal Family. Scones, savories and sweet cakes were delicious and fresh. Ambiance relaxing and décor lovely. Will revisit upon my next trip… especially if I am blessed with another rainy, foggy Londonlike day.

This place is the best! Keegan is such an awesome waiter, and a gentleman. The owner is a lovely lady. Great place for a spot of tea and scone!

Enjoyed today’s visit so much! We came for a private birthday party, which was handled beautifully. The waiters were well-knowledgeable and extremely attentive and kind. The owner was incredibly kind and came out and answered our questions regarding true British tea and traditions and helped recommend what tea is most popular, etc. Even more impressive than the tea was the food — we had mini sandwiches(cucumber and butter was my fave!), then we had a beautiful three tiered tray filled with different desserts delivered to each table. It was very impressive! The owner also explained that she does an Alice in Wonderland type etiquette class for kiddos — which sounds adorable! Definitely a hidden gem in our little city! It’s fun to do something different every once in a while, too!!!

Recently had a bridal shower at this Cute little tea room. The food was wonderful! The service was good– very accommodating and allowed us to put up our own decorations. Street parking only.

My mother and I went here today and had such a great time! We walked in without a reservation and they offered to call us back as soon as one of the window tables was free. So, we walked around downtown and received a call within 30 minutes. The tea room was a bit crowded, but that just added to the atmosphere. We sat and talked and enjoyed the tea and finger foods, and we did not feel rushed at all. I suggest the typhoo tea and the Elizabethan afternoon tea. I believe their lunch tea is from 11am-2:15pm and then afternoon tea is from 2:15−5pm. The afternoon tea is mainly finger food options.

Excellent place with delicious food and good service. It has a small menu with British far like shepherd’s pie. I had a delicious chicken pie and the Earl Grey tea was delicious. This is not the place to go if you are claustrophobic since it is small and the tables are close together. Not a cheap eat or one necessarily for the kids but a great girl’s day out or birthday lunch place. It is easy to miss on Commerce Street so be on the look out for it. You have to find street parking which can sometimes be a challenge or you can walk a few blocks to a parking garage.

This tearoom is such a little gem! It’s hidden away on Commerce Street, a street behind the Main Street in Historic Downtown Lynchburg. The menu is not extensive, but everything I’ve had has been scrumptious. I’m especially fond of the chicken and mushroom pie, the cheese and onion tart, the Cornish pasty, and the fruit crumble. The pots of tea are properly brewed, and service is outstanding. Worth noting, they also have several special events during the course of the year, including a Dickens event around Christmastime. I haven’t yet had the chance to attend one of the events, but I’m hoping to catch one eventually — they look like a lot of fun.

My first time here… Second time for my wife who LOVES this place! The hot Blackberry tea was an excellent choice! It was not bitter! Wonderful atmosphere with a nostalgic feel! Ms. Pat the owner is absolutely a delight, she even brought out a a delicious curried chicken salad ‘on the house’ for me to try on the house… Well thank you!!! The Service was stellar!

What a nice place to have tea. I had the scones and the cold black cherry tea. The scones were delicious! I will have to try the tea sandwiches next time.

The atmosphere and staff at the Ploughcroft are amazing. The food is so fresh, authentic and just the right portions. Every time I am in Lynchburg, I visit this tea room.

What a find. Genuine English lunch and tea. I was on cloud nine finding a ploughman’s lunch with the perfect chutney to go with it.

Since I love tea, I searched around for a place in Lynchburg for my upcoming trip and found the Ploughcroft Tea Room. It’s conveniently located in the downtown area(very close to the Craddock Terry Hotel too). We enjoyed the décor, some cute tea and British items. We decided to have the Victorian tea, so we could have some sweet and savory bites. The scones were a bit more biscuit-like than scones(a bit too soft and missing the nice crunch), but they were still tasty. Of the little sandwiches, we especially enjoyed the curried chicken. Unfortunately some of the sweets were a bit burned on the bottom, and also I don’t like it when there are an uneven number of the items. Why have only one on a try when it’s tea for two? We cut some of the items in half so we could both try it, but we would rather had fewer options but two of each item. The Darjeeling tea was nice, but was a little strong at the end. Also, the teapot was kind of heavy, making it more of a challenge to pour. Overall it was a nice experience.

My wife and I enjoyed a very good lunch on a busy Saturday. She had the chicken salad which she said was excellent and I had the shephard’s pie which was also very good. Could use a few more good male oriented dishes at menu is heavy on female oriented dishes – which given the clientele makes sense i suppose.

Authentic English Tea Room in the heart of downtown Lynchburg. Visited for the second time today and recommend the Cornish Pasty; as good as any you’d get in London. Excellent tea, atmosphere and food. Make reservations, the tea room fills up fast.
