Four stars for savory crepes but two stars for marginal service. Too many«employees» standing around chatting and socializing while one pitiful girl tries to keep up with the demand for crepes. My egg/bacon/cheese crêpe took 40 minutes to prepare, with no warning from the«employee» taking our money at the register. Where is the management?

First and foremost, the croissants are phenomenal. Key lime pie can so often be a sickly sweet, heavy gut bomb, but Lorraine’s key lime tart is amazingly good — with the perfect amount of sweet and tart and a light texture. Every loaf of bread I’ve had has been wonderful, and the madeleines make you understand the hold they had on Proust. That’s just a sampling of the deliciousness that is baked up at Lorraine Bakery and to be honest, everything I’ve had from Lorraine is top notch.

This Bakery is actually located in City Market. I have been looking for a good Bakery in Lynchburg ever since I started visiting in 2007. I got up early on Saturday morning to partake. I got croissaints, pecan buns, and quiche. All were perfect! I can’t wait to go back.

Anyone who has visited this fine boulangerie in the heart of the city market will award 5 stars before even tasting the breads. The line out the door is a testament to the artistry of it’s owners. This is real bread! The brioche is real brioche, the croissants are real croissants. It is well worth rubbing the sleep from your eyes early in the morning to ensure your spot in line. Love it! Love it!
