Really good pork sandwich with some great«white lightning» sauce. It’s pretty bold, so buckle up. Kiddo had a fried bologna sandwich that turned out to be the size of a manhole cover. Decent sides, sodas come in cans. Very friendly, chatty service. Really just a nice little spot to grab some food.

After traveling through the south for two weeks, I finally found the BESTBBQ!!! Moonshine BBQ! Really! I was able to come home to Colorado happy! We met the owner who shared with me this was an old family recipe(the fried chicken is a family recipe too — I am sad we didn’t get –but the next table was RAVING about it too) The owner recommended the coon hunter cake –pineapple and wonderfulness, covered in cream cheese icing w/pecans! Seriously the best meal of my trip! Don’t pass place up!

If you are from the South, don’t go here, it will disappoint you. If you are from the North«soul food’ has a lot more flavor than it does here. Cudos to their service and Southern Hospitality. Well received and appreciated no spill that over to the menu.

I was in Nashville for a few hours with a friend. We stopped in here for some drinks and food prior to my departure. I was very in pressed with the feel and the quality of the food. The only real downside I saw was parking… its either in a paid lot next door, or valet. There may be some street parking, but I don’t recall. In any case, I had their salmon and was quite impressed.

Best food in town!!! Don’t be fooled by all the signs for other places, this place is by far the best. The building itself is a historical home and it literally feels like you’re eating at grandmas house. You must get the fried chicken!!! Once again I felt like my grandma was making her own homemade recipe. Lastly…CHOCOLATE.CAKE!!! OMG… that’s all I’m saying.

Average food at best. I wouldn’t go back. Service was great and very quick, though. Friendly waitress, even threw in a complimentary piece of cake at the end.

Only place open on Easter Sunday in Lynchburg. My wife and I stopped in after the Jack Daniels tour on our vacation from Orlando. They were obviously flustered from the unexpected influx of business, but couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. The Moonshine BBQ was incredible. The atmosphere was authentic. All the meals are cooked in a residential kitchen. No commercial equipment! There were a few negatives. They ran out of sweet tea, but still had unsweetened. Not sure how that happens. Ran out of Mac and cheese. Took a while to get served and for our food to come out but, as a restaurant manger myself, I understand their dilemma. They were so apologetic and sweet I couldn’t bring myself to get upset. And once the food got there, it was well worth the wait! If you’re ever in Lynchburg, do yourself a favor and go see these wonderful people

Get the homemade Moonshine BBQ sandwich or Blue Plate Special! Awesome food and service! Kid Rock play’n All Summer Long in the background. Cool Fall weather and a spicy pulled pork BBQ just naturally go together. Stopped by Nina’s Sweet Shop for homemade Jack Daniels flavored dark chocolate fudge… ok, got the peanut butter fudge too. Back to the treadmill tomorrow. Love Lynchburg, it’s people, and this Mom n Pop diner! Great Fall destination drive! The trees are just beginning to turn. Enjoy!

I was on a trip to Tennessee and in Lynchburg to visit the Jack Daniel Distillery last Sunday and was in desperate need of some coffee to stay awake after being on-the-go for many days in a row. Lynchburg is already a tiny town compared to LA but matters were made worse by the fact that almost half the places are closed on Sundays. Luckily the staff at the Whiskey Runner, I wish I remembered the name of the 2 sweet ladies, made me a fresh pot of coffee right away and gave me the biggest cup to go and all for very cheap. Friendly, great staff, good coffee and cheap prices. I would recommend stopping by here to anyone going through Lynchburg. The ladies told me they are hoping to come to LA one day to be contestants on the Price Is Right, good luck!

My family stopped here after doing the Jack Daniels Distillery tour. This is a great place to stop if you are looking for that small Tennessee town feel. The menu is limited but what they make they give you plenty of it and it’s good food! I highly recommend the home made cobbler which is fantastic! The service is friendly and professional. When our order was late coming out they gave us a cobbler for free and apologised profusely. I really appreciated their hospitality and service.

Great place to eat in town! Nice house turned restaurant. I would eat here again if I was in Lynchburg. The menu was limited and could use more variety. It’s definitely worth a try though!

Delicious and genuine southern food. Servers are great-friendly and charming. The food reminds me of Paula Deen OR Nana’s house :)

Straight-up Southern food spot that’s walkable to the Jack Daniel’s distillery and shop. From fried pickles and sweet tea, to the creamy mac & cheese, every bite was delicious comfort food. The portions are large(i.e. the«half» salad portion is a full dinner plate size), and the ambience and servers are charming. Must-try: the corn fritters.

Adorable family run restaurant to pop into for breakfast or lunch when you’re in Lynchburg. Whiskey Runners is on the corner right by the only stoplight in the two square, right by the only stoplight in the town. Inside an charming home you’ll find this restaurant and a good amount of seating inside. They have outdoor seating for those days it’s not so humid. This restaurant is family run, our server said her mom owned the place and her boyfriend was in the back baking the cake. It’s a cozy shop and we were seated in a room with one other family & made some friendly conversation about our food options. They were jealous of our bologna sandwiches! I have never had a bologna sandwich outside of the Oscar Mayer lunchmeat so going into Whiskey Runners I knew that’s what I was going to get. I really liked the sandwich and would definitely get it again. It reminded me of spam in consistency and thickness but of course tasted nothing like spam. The sandwich came with a side dish for $ 5.99 which is a great deal. I had the mac & cheese which I assume is homemade, loved it but found to be a bit watery so could have used a bit more thickness to the cheese. One thing I’ve noticed about mac & cheese in the South is they nearly always add pepper. I like that. My friend and I shared the fried green tomatoes despite me being a bit scared of them. I HATE tomatoes… pretty much with every fiber of my being. They are almost as gross as onions but let’s not be ridiculous, nothing will ever be as gross as onions. Writing this goes against everything I stand for but dare I say the fried green tomatoes were… good! They totally surprised me because they tasted nothing like their disgusto red brothers. It may be because they were deep fried or because Whiskey Runners just does them good… but I actually ate more than one slice! This appetizer was $ 6.99 and dipped in some ranch made them just delicious. We had all this with refreshing lemonade served in mason jars. I ended our meal with a slice of their chocolate cake($ 2.99) to go. I ate it later in the night and loved it! Delicious! Come for lunch here but don’t expect the frills. It’s good food served on a Styrofoam plate in a friendly setting for a fair price.

Southern awesome. Limited menu mostly fried. They do have salads but did not try. Fried Bologna sandwich, mac n cheese and Coon Hunter cake where awsome. Fried pickles and green tomatoes are a good bet also. Seating is just like supper at your grandmother’s house. easy walk from Jack Daniels after your tour.

This place is awesome! If you like good home cooking and a cozy atmosphere, this is the place for you. Everything is really good. The blackberry cobbler is the best I’ve ever had. The service is spectacular! They treat you like family, and are super friendly. Will definitely go here again the next time I’m in Lynchburg!
