Last summer my family and I came in on a Friday night around 6pm and were surprised to see that it was incredibly slow. I honestly think that there were only five other tables within our vicinity and seated at one of them was an employee who had come in to eat with friends… so…not a good sign. The music was so incredibly loud that you could not even hear yourself think much less have any sort of conversation, and it was some sort of really obnoxious EDM music with some random 50 Cent and Lil Wayne thrown in– I have literally never heard anything like this played at a classy restaurant, it would have been better suited for a really cheap college bar. If you are trying to cater to families, this is probably not the way to go about it. I don’t know who was in charge of the playlist but it sounded like an eighteen year old raver’s spotify. This pretty much killed every bit of ambience that they are trying to create with their mood lighting and beautiful décor, unfortunate because in that department, they really have done an excellent job. After having to shout back and forth(I swear to you I am not even remotely exaggerating) for what felt like a lifetime, we finally said something to our server and she agreed that it was really loud and said she didn’t know who kept changing the playlist or why but that she would go talk to someone about it. When she finally reappeared she told us that they were going to turn it down… huh…still bizarre. If people complain because they are paying to eat a nice meal at your upscale restaurant and you are blasting really vulgar, unpleasant and obnoxious music over the speakers then that is a clear sign that you need to change your playlist, not turn it down… Anyway, when our server came by to take our order she seemed extremely scattered and overwhelmed. Every question we asked about the menu was greeted with an «I don’t know, I haven’t actually tried that…» and then no attempt was made to get the question answered by someone who had. It’s really an inconvenience when you are trying to ask something simple about serving size, popularity, or taste of a dish and your server cannot answer any of the questions for you. If you have never eaten at the restaurant before, it really takes away from the experience when your server is not even remotely enthusiastic or knowledgeable about the food that they serve. To be honest, I don’t think she was suited for the industry and she definitely should not have been taking orders with no knowledge of the menu. We ordered our meals as best we could and decided to move on, assuming the food would be worth it. We must have waited almost forty minutes for our dinner and again, let me restate that it was absolutely dead… there was no reason why it should have taken this long, and if there was going to be a dramatic wait for food then we should have been warned at the door. Three out of four of us finally got our dinners and sure enough, my meal was incredibly spicy, almost too much so for me to eat it. I had tried to ask the server about this dish when she was taking my order and she had told me she didn’t think there was any spice but that she hadn’t personally tried it. Ugh. We then found out that there had been a mix up and they hadn’t made my mom’s meal… okay…so we waited forty minutes for food and now my poor mom is going to have to sit here and watch everyone eat and wait how long for them to make her meal? It was completely ridiculous, but the worst part of it all was the server’s attitude, she truly could not have cared less. She told us the kitchen was working on it and that her food would be coming right up. Shortly after, my mom was brought the most disgusting plate of food I have ever seen served. Her steak was so overdone that it couldn’t be cut with a steak knife and while it was supposed to be a steak spinach salad with sliced steak as it had been described on the menu, it was just one giant hunk of black steak sitting on a pile of soggy greens. Not even remotely the same meal and so completely unappetizing. I was in disbelief that the server would actually bring this out to a customer and not recognize that it wasn’t a steak spinach salad… I mean come on, anyone with a brain should be able to deduct that. Needless to say, we demanded that her meal be comped and immediately paid our bill and walked out. As we were pulling away we saw a couple of members of the kitchen staff come out of the back for a smoke break and it all made sense. They looked sixteen years old and were seriously lacking in the hygiene department– disheveled and in dirty clothes. Yum. The final straw was when I talked to some of my friends who had been servers at NYP in Lynden and Bellingham and all claimed to have been sexually harassed by the thirty year old owner when he would show up for inspections and training. He apparently told people that they would be fired for requesting a day off and prompted servers to act and dress slutty.

Was there for lunch today with my kiddo and her friend. Upon walking in the staff were chatting about«last night» and we’re caught off guard that there were customers. We were asked if we needed kids menus and replied yes. But we only have one so I need to print more.(Maybe less chatting and more working). We were seated at the biggest table in there. Took a while before our order was taken. Keep in mind there was only one other table occupied in the whole place. After order was taken it took 35 minutes to get our food. Interesting because we only ordered soup, kids quesadilla and plain burger.(Prob more chatting instead of working again). Food was good this the 2 stars. I won’t return due to the lack of service. Can’t imagine how they would handle 3 whole tables at once OMG!

I’ll start by saying that the food at NYP in Lynden has always been top notch. We have always enjoyed the food. The have some of the most outstanding burgers and dipping sauces I’ve had. This review is regarding the service. The service is hit and miss. We were just there on a seemingly quiet Monday. There were a few other folks in the restaurant. We were seated by a nice gentleman who brought us our drinks and told us who the server would be. The server never showed up and that gentleman had to take our order as well. After 45 plus minutes of waiting and seeing our food sitting under the warmer(our server still hadn’t come by our table) I finally went to find someone, anyone. I found that gentleman again. He was very surprised we hadn’t received our food and that we had been waiting that long. He brought the food and notified the manager. The manager came by the table and offered his apologies plus a few free appetizers; that was nice. We ate our food and were ready for the bill and lo and behold our waitress shows up, just in time to take the money. She offered no apologies, but rather acted like nothing was wrong. We’ve had another similar experience at that same restaurant but with a different server. At that time we felt like we were nothing but a bother to her. Why do I go back? I don’t know. Perhaps I need to find a different location.

Really like this place, definitely the best NYP in Whatcom County. Service is hit and miss, but the food is always on point! Great selection of rotating taps, really good food, and a great happy hour. This place is a regular stop for my wife and I.

Ordered take-out, took 25 minutes just to PAY! After waiting 25 minutes for food. Finally got our 3 orders of sweet potato fries and there was barely any. Not to mention our Pizza’s were cold & we were made the wrong ones because the server didn’t know their own menu. NOTIMPRESSED. This isn’t the 1st time something like this has happened.

They have a classic menu from burgers to pizza to a wide variety of entrée. The food is great cheap for a nice dinning experience. If you want your food at a reasonable amount of time, don’t go here. There service is one of the worst I’ve ever had. I’ve been here multiple time and the service as always been terrible. With me and my group of friends here in town we all love the food but the service is horrible. Lesson learned I will not be going back until they change some things.

Consistently great food. Great rewards program. Service is generally slow… whether it’s busy or not. Bathrooms are gross; scrub the floors, and replace the toilet that is ALWAYS out of order. I frequent NYP… about monthly… I always hesitate to go, then regret going and leave annoyed. But the food is good, and the price is right.

My wife and I sat in the bar for happy hour drinks and a dinner. We were greeted promptly at the door and upon sitting down in the bar, so no issues there. Calamari was good, crispy with a little spice to the batter, good dipping sauce. Then we tried the Hawaiian pizza off the happy hour menu, best pizza we’ve had in Whatcom county, good crust and good locally sourced meats. All in all a pleasant evening, we’ll be back.

My daughter and I went to dinner tonight for her birthday. We have been to NYP many times and are never disappointed! Tonight we enjoyed Pepperoni Pizza and their Salmon Salad Aa well as Calamari. By far the best calamari I have ever had. Their house dressing is my absolute favorite I wish they would bottle it and sell it!

I want to first of all say that I love NYP. Love the atmosphere. Food has always been good. Service has usually been spot on. However, after this last visit, I don’t have any plans to stop by the Lynden location again. On a quiet Monday night, we walk into the restaurant. Two people in the bar, two tables seated in the dining room. We were at the restaurant for over one hour without receiving our food. After an hour, the table next to us(who had been seated over 20 minutes after us), received their food. Fed up, we got up and left. As we walked out, we saw our food sitting on the counter. Waitress made eye contact with us and we said that we were done waiting and she literally said, «Well ok.» No apology. No «let me grab my manager.» Nothing. I submitted my concerns to NYP via there website and got no response. I guess we won’t be making the trek out to support the Lynden NYP any longer. UPDATE: I changed my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. After a month, the manager contacted me via email and apologized for not responding to my initial website inquiry. I understand that with the holiday season in full swing, perhaps my email got lost in the mix and get that. Honestly, I only wanted NYP to acknowledge that my experience was a fluke, which the manager did. I look forward to going back to NYP in Lynden again and not having a repeat experience.

Since they have redone their menu it is way better. Great happy hour. My complaint is that the place is dingy and desperately needs to be remodeled. It is a dungeon in there, they should consider getting rid of the wall that separates the back room and the HUGEBOOTHS, it’s so dated. We sat at a table a few nights ago where it was half booth and half chairs. The people that sat at the booth side noticed how loose it was and every time the people moved that were seated on the other side it totally moved the seat. Also, every time I get a glass of wine there…, the glass is filthy. It seems like they get most of their business in the bar and don’t care that the restaurant is falling apart. Good food …, outdated atmosphere.

Living in Lynden, there aren’t many options for food! However the food at New York pizza is delicious! It’s American fare, but there are many options if you want to eat a bit healthier. Nick, I think his name is an awesome waiter! We enjoy his service every time. I think at times they can be a bit understaffed, and we have to wait a bit longer but that’s understandable for anyone who’s worked in the restaurant business. It’s always a good place for groups, with everyone getting a variety of options!

We loved this place! Cute ambiance, and thankfully not a team of loud softball kids annoying us… we enjoy amazingly good food in a quiet atmosphere. The clam chowder was the best I’ve ever had, and the best pizza since we came to Washington… so wish we lived closer.

If you own a restaurant that is within walking distance of a recreational field with 8 Baseball fields, you shouldn’t be surprised when a baseball team walks in during a tournament. We were recommended to this restaurant and were looking forward to it, thirteen 14 year old boys and their parents. YES it was a large party unannounced on a Sunday but there was no one else there. We were told they didn’t know if they could serve us, they’d have to «check with the kitchen». We took our team to the great restaurant next door, The Nuthouse. Who had NO problem serving us unannounced AND was the recipient of our money, totally over $ 450.00 I can’t imagine owning a small business and losing $ 450.00 on a slow Sunday afternoon. The front desk staff were extremely rude to both parents and kids during our brief encounter. We let the Tournament Director at Bender Fields know as they send out a list of all restaurants near the fields. *To Mike — thank you for commenting. No — we were unable to eat there. We were never given the chance to eat there as the front staff wouldn’t allow it. Didn’t give us a chance to even attempt to begin a conversation about it. Would we have expected quick service? Nope — not realistic. But owning a pizza place next to a baseball field, one would think this would be a normal occurrence.

Went in last night. We had a great meal for a great price. They had a special buy one get one free burger. We were not going that direction initially but our server Ryan told us about it and really glad he did. I had the John Wayne burger and my friend had one with pineapple or something on it which I was told was delicous! Mine was great and my margarita was tasty. I have been to the location in bellingham and had good experiences as well but this was my first time in lynden and I have to say it’s awesome as well. good food, great service. Ill be back here for sure next time im in the area.

Excellent service and great place to eat. Strong drinks! Good place to go for game day. Awesome environment. Did I mention that the drinks are strong?! Tired of the low ratings. Best place in Lynden.

Seriously? Why does this place have such low ratings? I have been in here like 3 times and never had a bad experience. In fact, the food has always been good. I think I have had a burger and a wrap. Tried onion rings and sweet potato fries, both real real tasty. The downside I see is that it is not as clean and tidy as u might like for a newer place. Bathrooms a bit dirty, etc. The big draw that I haven’t taken advantage of is that it has a full bar. That’s worth a star in a small town with not many places to grab a vodka drink. Anyway, give this place a chance. I think you’ll see it’s a decent place.

The foods amazing. Loving the new burgers. Except I recently ordered a pasta dish, my noodles where flat when they’re supposed to be round & hallow. & kinda hard like they wernt cooked properly, or maybe pre cooked re warmed or previously frozen? They were def. the worst noodles I’ve ever had. They where also cold I did send it back. The drinks are always good tho. I miss Kyla Emily & Dori. the new girls just don’t seem in to it, Super disappointed w. The service latley the girls act like they hate they’re job and that asking for a refill or a side of something is an inconvenience.

We came here on a Sunday, and despite not being busy at all the wait time for our food was very long, with little explanation from the staff, forcing us to go and inquire as to when we would receive our food. The quality of the food was good, with a nice variety of menu options. I personally had one of the pizzas, which had a nice flavor but was rather small considering it was called the«family» size. Everyone else in my party had burgers and the comments were generally good, with special attention paid to the fries as being very good. Overall, I might go back if I knew the wait time would be less, but 40 minutes to wait on a Sunday afternoon is just a bit too much. Also, the pizzas need to get bigger, or be priced more accordingly.
