Motor — head guys and women rarely mix well. The stereotype of the auto mechanic ripping off the unsuspecting female is a very real thing. Few places display such blatant patriarchy, arrogance and entitlement as an auto mechanic or car parts store.
I called this place to get an estimate on a brake job. I bought all the parts already at a car parts and supply store. I had to talk to three different employees, make four calls and explain seven times that I already bought the brake parts! These guys just werent listening — which is amazing since «I bought the parts already» is a five word sentence. Multiple times employees kept trying to get me to confirm and list what parts I would need to buy from them. After multiple conversations one of these employees was able to say they don’t do brake installation with parts purchased outside their business due to liabilities. Why couldn’t that be explained the first time I called?
I finally thought it was time to go to a competitor whom would actually LISTEN and provide customer service to me in spite of any hangup over gender. Lame Van Loo — I would have liked to have kept my money in the Lynden business community.

Roy at VanLoos makes my experience in auto repairs pretty painless. That is really saying something for me. He is a great listener and it able to take my «non-​automotive» descriptions and figure out the problem. He calls to let me know what is the issue and what he suggests for a fix in a quick manner, then takes care of business. Trust, honesty, good workmanship and fair prices are all one could ask of any business, especially when, as a woman, you feel vulnerable to the experts in an area that is out of my depth. I take all of our vehicles to Van Loos and always will! Thanks for giving me peace of mind…
