Lynn Public Library is the little library that could. Though obviously underfunded(ahem, Lynn politicos, please take note), this library more than makes up in service for what it lacks in resources. The library is located in a gorgeous historic building in downtown Lynn replete with Roman-esque columns and a central rotunda of dizzying height. It houses a rather small collection of reference works and circulating materials including books, DVDs and CDs. In addition, it is a member of the North of Boston Library Exchange which allows members to access a number of useful databases and to access a broader range of circulating materials through interlibrary loans. The real gem at this library are the pleasant, helpful folks who staff the circulation and reference desks. The staff at this library provide a whole lot of service to a community that has seen more than its fair share of hard times and they do it with panache. If you are a Lynn resident — get your library card and use it! It’s free and opens up an invaluable world of information.
