I was introduced to Rite Spice by a Lynn native. It was a Saturday so of course I had to get the curry crab special. It was soooo good! I also ordered a jerk chicken pattie which was spicy but not too spicy to the point of being unbearable or flavorless(sometimes things are so spicy, all you can taste is the HEAT). The staff was also very nice. While there, I noticed that there was a conch soup special. I asked the man working at the counter about it and he offered to let me try it. I instantly asked him to throw a large into my to go order. Of course the smell of the food was so enticing that I was forced to grab a seat by the window and eat half of my food… and by half I actually mean i inhaled the entire plate lol. I live in Cambridge and I want. scratch that… NEED to go back to get that crab again.

First time trying Caribbean food. We had rice, oxtail, and jerk chicken. I would definitely eat it again. The chicken was was amazingly moist and the oxtail melts right off the bone as you bite into it. Very flavorful. The lady there working at the time was very friendly.

This place is amazing! Only downside is that they give way too much rice and beans. Had the brown stewed chicken and was to die for. As I write this I want some now!!!

Best Jamaican food I’ve had since coming to Boston back in January. I travel for work so I’m always looking for the best food spots in every city and this one even my father, a Jamaican chef himself, would enjoy. So far I’ve had the oxtail, curry chicken, brown stew fish and the jerk chicken and they have all been amazing. Definitely a place to put on your radar.

I recently relocated to Lynn from Boston and must say Rite Spice Caribbean has the best Jamaican food that I have had in MA. The food is nostalgic to my travels to Jamaica! I decided to try other Jamaican food restaurants in Lynn and this place is the best so far! My favorite dish is the jerk chicken: perfectly cooked, delicious sauce and the vegetable salad is amazing, though I wish the put a little more of the jerk sauce because it’s very yummy. I look forward to trying everything on the menu. The owners are very friendly and the staff are nice as well. Whenever I order out, I make sure to come here! It would be awesome if they delivered!

Wanted some Jamaican food without having to drive deep into Boston so I decided to give Rite Spice a try. Very very happy to say that I did! I ordered the jerk chicken(small) which came with rice, veggies and plantains. My other half got a couple beef patties with cheese and cocoa bread. Total came to about $ 22 with a drink which I thought was a great deal. Got home and ate it, was delicious! Extremely authentic and very filling. The man working who may be the owner is also extremely friendly and welcoming. I’m happy to say I found a new place out of the city for a delicious meal!

I don’t live near Lynn anymore but when I go there to get my hair done I have to get food there. My hairdresser introduced me to this place and everything’s good. From the patties to anything curry and I am amazed at the portion. The staff is friendly and courteous. I can’t say enough about Saturdays the one day everyone should come for their curry crab or curry seafood. Yes I’d say that this place is one of the best carribean food in the north shore.

I’mJust ordered for my first time and I must say, I am very pleased with the taste and quality of the food. I ordered the jerk chicken dinner and the curried goat dinner. All dinners come with either white rice or rice and red beans, with vegetables. Only thing is that one plate came with two plantains and one didn’t have any. I do know u can order a side. But I thought it was going to come with both plates. Jerk Chicken: Chicken cooked well, the sauce was delicious, perfectly spicy, although I wish the chicken was tossed in the sauce because the sauce was placed on top of the rice, so I ate a good portion of my chicken without the amazing sauce. Thankfully, the chicken was seasoned and tasted good anyways. Rice and beans was also good, cooked perfectly. The cabbage/vegetables also good with the rest of the plate. Curried Goat: goat was very tender and had great flavor. First time trying goat and I think it eas delicious. Plate served with the same as above. Good portions, got a small plate if each and me and my fiancée both ate from both plates and there are leftovers. Just went back for the curry crab on Saturday, served exclusively on saturdays, lg plate comes with two halved crabs very good flavor, hubby loved it

This restaurant was in my travel. I ordered the stewed chicken, with rice and beans, cabbage medley, and plantain. Although the rice and beans were tasty, the stewed chicken could have used a little more spice. The cabbage medley had no taste, and the plantains were not sweet, a little dry.

Very good. My friend and I(we are both west indian) were in the area for the day. I had curried goat(flavor was on point) which comes w. Rice and peas and cabbage. I also got the mild beef patty w coco bread. GETTHECOCOBREAD. Best coco bread I have had in a very long time. Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere was very clean and orderly. If I am ever in the area again I will most definitely be visiting and recommending to others.

my friend and I were out of state and craving some good West Indian food. We stopped by and immediately were greeted by a very very nice man who took our orders. We sat in the window seats which are awesome and watched television and chatted with him the whole time we were there. The entire staff seems very friendly and warm and welcoming with great smiles. If you need them to answer any questions about the food they can do that with expertise. And the food there is delicious! & I would know because I am Jamaican and Trinidadian. My girl who I was with her family is from the United States Virgin Islands and she loved it as well. She loved the Coco bread and almost ate the pieces that she was taking home for her father. If you are in the area I would definitely recommend going there and enjoying yourself you will not he upset.

Rite Spice has the right stuff. They have a convenient location and you can dine in or take out. I ordered the chicken curry and it was very good. It was what I expected from a curry dish. Not too spicy, as in not too hot spicy, but very flavorful. The rice served with it complimented the chicken very well. They give you decent potions at a fair price. I want to try the curry crabmeat for the Saturday special the next time.

Right Spice is my go to Jamaican. I have not had a better Jamaican food ANYWHERE on the eastern seaboard. Everything is made from scratch, is fresh, and is prepared with a ridiculous amount of flavor. Most everything they make is a winner and I haven’t gotten to their curry or jerk chicken dishes yet, or to their coco bread and patties. Here’s what I’ve had that I would absolutely order again and recommend in this order: 1) Curried Crab — Eat this and you know these folks take food seriously. Poseidon would put this on his Caribbean meal rotation. Offered on Saturdays Only. For the customer ordering this, N.B., you will need crackers. You get the whole crab shell and all. 2) Brown Stewed Chicken — Slammin’. 2) Ox Tails — It’s not a typo. Ox Tails are tied for 2 with Brown Stewed Chicken. 3) Curry Goat — A respectable rendition. 4) Escovich Fish — There is nothing wrong with this dish, it’s on the delicate side of flavor, so 1 – 3 have a greater Jamaican association for me and appeal to my taste buds. You will get the entire red snapper — head to tail. Also a Saturdays Only Special. Also, while I have heard of escovich fish, and have a recipe for it, this is my first experience with it. To be fair, my frame of reference is nil. If you like soup. There are 2, Mannish Wata and Fish Tea. Mannish wata is considered an aphrodisiac made from various goat parts. I’m too much woman for mannish water, but just the right amount of mermaid for Fish Tea. Fish Tea is light and spicy but thickened ever so slightly with potato starch. I would avoid this is you don’t savor a slight burn at the back of the throat. It’s liken to good rum, or a 20 year old tawny. My one recommendation to the chef is to scale the fish prior. Sucking in fish scales from a spoon is similar to chewing chicken wings and discovering a feather was still attached. My best association for chicken feathers is dirty Chinese takeout. Since your customers can see your kitchen, you can’t be compared to dirty Chinese takeout. Please. Please. Please remove the scales. Oh yes, and their dumplings! These hardly ever made it home.(I’ve moved out of state and I miss you — all of 1 – 3 and then some.) Fried flour balls slightly larger than doughnut holes. These are just ridiculous. Also, their cabbage is enviably good. It is steamed perfectly and seasoned as though it is being served straight out of St Catherine’s parish. I’ve found their rice and peas to be a mere vehicle for what goes on top. Think of it as the vanilla of ice creams. It is simple. Almost too simple. So, it doesn’t get great until the curries from curried goat, brown stewed chx, and curried crab are ladled on top. Rite Spice does have Jamaican soda, coconut candy, and a few other accouterments to round off a Jamaican meal, but if I am to be painstakingly honest, none of them do it for me. I prefer to get my coconut candy, carrot juice, sorrel drink, or bedroom bully from Jamaican Flavor about 10 minutes away. So, go grab these, then drive over to Rite Spice, head to your destination with your goodies and eat, drink and unbuckle yourself! You’ll probably eat til«busted». Also note. While RS has high top window seats it is a takeout joint. There is no restroom. Credit cards are accepted(not sure about Amex). They are closed on Sundays and possibly Mondays. If you want the best they have to offer, get there early — well in advance of closing time. Several family members have complained about meals received just before closing. This was never my experience, but then again, they know my face.

I had to update this review after trying their patties… One word, BOMB! The spicy beef and jeep chicken are the right amount of spice, the dough is flaky, and they go quick… so get there early… This is definitely my new go to when I’m feeling too lazy to cook! Thanks ladies!

I really want to give this place more than 3 stars, but I really can’t. I went here about a month ago to see what everyone was raving about and I wasn’t as enthused. I had the oxtail with rice and peas, steamed veggies and plantains. While the oxtail was absolutely delicious, the rest of my plate was just blah. The rice tasted like it came from a scorched pan, the veggies were nothing memorable and the plantains were tough and chewy like they had been sitting around for too long. My roomie had curry chicken, which she thought was okay, but she was clearly not blown away or anything. I cannot say it was the worst Jamaican food I have ever eaten, but it was certainly not the best. If I did return, I would only get a side of of oxtails and nothing more.

The Jerk chicken was fantastic. The chicken was moist and nicely marinated. The plantains were very good and the patties, of course, were yummy. Definitely the best takeout I’ve tried yet in Lynn.
