My fiancé and I came here for dinner the other night and let me tell you! The service was close to perfect with being seated quickly and our waitress making sure we enjoying our time. For appetizers we ordered shrimp cocktail and the crabcakes; the shrimp were plump and delicious and the crabcakes had amazing flavor with the roasted peppers mixed in it. For the entrees we ordered the new york sirloin with fried polenta and fried haddock with chips. The steak was cooked to a beautiful medium-rare and the sauce was full of flavor. The fried haddock was super flaky with a crisp yummy batter. For desert we ordered tiramisu and the falling cake, both were amazing! Overall our experience was great, we will be back soon!

Excellent place especially for a date can be either casual or fancy, depending on what you want. Friendly staff and delicious food. I especially liked the haddock that was served. Potato chip crumbs and Parmesan risotto are a perfect pair. Definitely returning!

We went on a Saturday night at 6:30. There was no one else waiting and there were empty tables(i never take this as a good sign on a weekend night). The hostess asked us if we had reservations. This always makes me nuts, especially if I see empty tables. She said it would be 30 minutes. Forty five minutes later we were still at the bar even though there were still empty tables. Thank God there was a bar with seats and we could get a drink. Anyway we finally sit dow close to 730. The bread and butter were delicious. We put in our orders and waited and waited and waited. We ordered the beet salad and a scallop dish that were both great. Two of us had the lobster fra diavlo, my husband had chicken parm and I forget what my friend’s husband had. By this point I had finished my second martini. The lobster was excellent, hubby said parm was pretty good. The food is great but the service is terrible, we had to flag down our waitress more than once to ask about app/drinks/entrees. You really can’t blame the wait staff, it is how slow the food is coming out of the kitchen. They need to time it better. We didn’t get out of there until 930. Glad we weren’t on a tight schedule. It was much more than we like to spend for a Saturday dinner, I would go back but maybe for lunch and after they straighten out the timing.

I walked in to the restaurant at 11:49am on a Sunday morning and was greeted by no one. After a 10 minutes I walked to the bar area to see if someone would seat us. After a minute, a young waitress came over to seat us and asked if we had a reservation. I had to ask after looking at an empty restaurant if I needed one. We placed our order and proceeded to wait 50 minutes for the food to be delivered. Once delivered, the food was cooked as ordered and it was still hot on arrival. We ate lunch and watched as others struggled to get proper service. I like the décor and feel of the restaurant, but the service is severely lacking. It’s 1:36pm and I just left and we ordered no appetizers or soup.

This is a really good place to take a date. The décor and atmosphere was casual and quiet, which is great for a date. So here’s the breakdown: Food: The food was pretty good. We ordered the little necks to start and it was really good. The broth that it came in was delicious and the clams were decently sized. For entrée, I ordered the Filet Mignon and my girlfriend ordered the Ship Cioppino. The steak was cooked perfectly(Medium Rare) but the sauce was subpar and was not seasoned as well as I would like. My GFs entrée on the other hand was delicious. It came with half a lobster, scallops, mussels and some other seafood. The broth was delcious and I was regretting not getting that. I would definitely come back for the Ship Cioppino. For dessert, we got the Tiramisu and it was eh. Not the best Tiramisu I’ve had. Atmosphere: As mentioned above, the atmoshere was spot on. I’d expect them to be busier on a Friday, but it worked in our favor. It wasn’t loud, so we were able to talk and enjoy everything. Service: So this is where I had to take off a star. The service was mediocre. Our waiter barely came over to make sure everything was okay and it took multiple attempts to even get our waters refilled. Did I mention that there was noone there at that time? Even getting our check was hard to flag someone down for it. Overall: Great food, great atmosphere, but lackluster service. I would definitely come back for the Ship Cioppino though! If you’re looking for a good place to take a date, I would definitely recommend The Ship Restaurant, just don’t expect amazing service.

Great place for dinner. My wife stopped in last night and sat at the bar. The owner was also our bartender and he was very nice and super friendly. Very nice décor and excellent food and service. Also, the bathrooms and entire restaurant was spotless. We started with the beet salad — which is my wife’s favorite and we loved it. The hot bread came out with real butter and was delicious. My wife had the salmon and it was cooked to perfection and served over mashed potato and sautéed spinach — awesome!!! I ordered the shrimp and scallop risotto and it was excellent. Both dishes were served steaming hot. The portions were very nice and we both took some home. We were to full for dessert, but will definitely save room next time. Try the Ship, you will love it!!!

Great place for a date — we started with the beet salad which we both loved. I had the lobster ravioli and my husband had swordfish and scallops skewers over risotto. Both entrees tasted delicious with good portion sizes. Service was great. We will be planning another dinner date at the Ship soon.

Just had a wonderful dinner with some of my friends. Food was delicious and the service was perfect. From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed. Our wait staff was there for every need and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I find it odd the restaurant had only two other parties besides us when the food was expertly prepared and delicious. A Groupon brought us in but happy to return without one. I can recommend the eggplant rotini appetizer with a fresh, rich tomato sauce with cheese. The seafood platter was delicious and a very generous portion. The salmon was also super fresh and cooked to perfection. Desert was a sorbet but beautifully presented in a hollowed lemon. If the lighting was softer and the music lower and more sophisticated, this would be considered a romantic spot. The service was gracious and warm so I look forward to returning.

I’ve been shopping at the Christmas shop for years and never stopped here. One day decided to stop and I must say a girl from the city never expected a place so breathtaking and service so attentive. The outside is very deceiving. Prices are great and food yummo! What a Dimond in the Rough. If your going to have a casual place or on a special occasion this place is perfect!!! I would recommend this place to everyone!!! What a wow factor! Relax, enjoy…

My wife and I went on a snowy night so I’m not sure if the usual staff couldn’t make it — so maybe there is an excuse for the poor meal. First getting seated was awkward. We asked for a booth and there was only one other party in the place. Still the hostess gave us a face as she wanted us to take a table. It went downhill from there. The meatballs my wife ordered were inedible. My fish was passable but the fries were cold. To top it off the drinks were very weak. All in all not a very good dining experience.

Everything was excellent from drinks to service to food. Crab cakes, shrimp/scallop/clams risotto amazing! Have had the risotto(different kinds) many times and always fabulous. Burger was great too. I don’t think this place gets enough credit. It’s really great!

I’ve driven past this place far too many times. Finally popped in this weekend, and I regret I did not do so sooner! The place looked newly renovated, very clean and chic. The staff was friendly & helpful. I had the spicy margarita which was delicious. We had the eggplant rollatini, oysters, and the lunch special flatbread. All were delicious. Even the rollatini – this coming from someone who rarely eats Italian food anywhere aside from my mother’s kitchen! Overall, I would highly recommend this place!

On Thanksgiving my family had nothing planned for our dinner this year. We decided as a whole to try something new & skip-thanksgiving preparations; instead going out. We have passed by TheShip many times on rt 1 for years & when we brainstormed places to enjoy each others company we heard this was a quaint place;which it was. Mariam was our server and was memorable & very attentive. She made sure this experience was like no other on a holiday, for dinner. I had the Turkey Dinner which was flavorful & had all the fixings of a «traditional» Thanksgiving dinner. My family was truly satisfied with our plans to skip-thanksgiving feeling comfortable with our service/good moods. I want to send a special thanks to Mariam and all the staff who made our dinner one we are highly considering making a tradition.

I really liked the décor. It has a ship feel to it, it’s not just a name. The menu was okay. For some reason, I thought this was mainly Greek food but it had a good array of items. My mother got the fish and chips and it was a ton of food. She liked it and I tried the fish — it was very good. I wasn’t as pleased with my choice. I got the chicken piccata and the chicken didn’t taste right. It looked cook but had a very off taste. The sauce was awful. A weird mixture of lemon and garlic. We ended up having desserts and mine was excellent. Coffee gelato with extra coffee in the center. No complaints there. Prices were fair and our waiter was very attentive. I got sick not long after eating and I attribute it to the weird garlic lemon sauce so I would be very unlikely to ever order that dish again if I do return but if you’re going for fish I can attest it was very yummy.

My family and I went to dinner for Mother’s Day. We had a seven thirty reservation. We ended up waiting 20 minutes to be seated. When we were seated they took our drink order. 40 minute later we got our drinks after asking a few times. Our food took an hour and a half or longer. I cleared the plate off our table before our food got there. Stay clear of this place everything what’s awful. The food was okay but for the price it should be good in the worst case Don’t go here they ruined Mother’s Day dinner for us. Thanks

The ship is very fun to dine in but the food is what makes it special. We went a few times now, consistently fresh food, good variety and exceptional waitstaff. The entire dining area is very clean, neat and a bit elegant, very nice change of pace from other local places. Shrimp and scallop risotto with asparagus was very good, excellent turkey club and great appetizers! Give it a try and you will be pleasantly surprised.

This is such a cute place. Decorated and shaped like a ship. A helm inside. Our waitress was friendly. Food was just okay. I can see why people gave it bad reviews for being pricey.
