All About Hardwoods

These guys are great and they do fabulous work. We had them do our entire upstairs (we have a split level) and the stairs with hickory wood. The wood they selected is beautiful and has held up well over the 2 years. They were very professional and conciderate of our schedule when it was time to lay down the finishing urethane. I would recommend All About Hardwoods to anyone concidering hardwood flooring.

These guys did a great job. We had taken out some walls to turn an extra bedroom into a home office, with a new opening into our living room, and also removed an ugly green slate entrance «landing pad» in our living room, and the guys from All About Hardwoods did a great job of weaving in new oak with our original wood, and then refinishing the entire floor in our office. In our living room, they did a great job of blending the finish so it’s hardly noticeable (and they blended it to a point where they knew we would have our sofa anyway). They even used some of the old wood from our closet to weave in with new wood in the entry area of our living room at our request, so it wasn’t so obvious what was old wood and what was new. They arrived on time, and were very professional and efficient. They are not cheap, but they do quality work and we get many compliments on our floors. All three of the guys who worked on our floors had great personalities, were not at all creepy, and we trusted them completely to work in our house alone and lock up afterward. They gave us a call as they were finishing up and leaving for the day.
One word of caution I would have if you’re blending a new finish with an old one: it’s likely they won’t match exactly, as different brands of urethane have different standards of what constitutes «satin» or «semi-​glossy» or whatever. One brand’s «satin» may be closer to another brand’s «semi-​gloss» and so forth. It’s hardly noticeable in our case unless you’re looking in a certain light at a certain angle, but it’s something to keep in mind, as the people who refinished our floors originally (before we moved in) used a different company, and no doubt a different brand of urethane.
