Awful experience at the Portrait studio. Photographer lied to us about the timeline for selecting our pictures and made an already stressful day beyond horrible. One of those retail work environments where every employee takes their frustration out on the customer in petty ways.
You don’t want to take 5 minutes from our appointment to let us feed our hungry infant? I hope you enjoyed every minute of him screaming during the photo shoot.
Not even worth groupon prices. Skip it.

Wow how horrible this place has become. In a world where people are focused more on being body positive JCPenney has taken a huge step back.
I went there this weekend in need of a belt. As a plus size guy I previously respected there plus size section that was located on the first floor with all the other mens wear. This weekend I find they have moved it. Now they have hidden the big and tall section to the back corner of the second floor behind furniture. No other clothing around. The womens plus size is hidden behind the skimpy underwear.
I was told the corporate propaganda for this change is to drive foot traffic.
Lets face it the fact is the store does not want plus size people shopping with others. Its fat shaming at its worst.
I for one will gladly pay higher prices from now on to shop at stores who are not ashamed of plus size customers.

Stay away from the jewelry department, those woman are piranhas! I was just looking for a small hoop earring (not that I had a chance to casually look for myself) and one of the sales ladies just pounced on me and wouldn’t leave me alone, she even pulled out a $ 12,000 dollar diamond ring out of the safe for me to try on, what the hell! I finally left because I was being pressured so badly I was afraid I was going to be rude.
Just a piece of advice piranha sells ladies, tell the customer you are available if they need help, then leave them the f**k alone. Don’t pressure people, customers don’t like it!
I gave 1 star because there is no minus stars.

I just got off the phone with the jewelry department about a return and was put on hold for 7 minutes.
Now where did I put those scissors, so I can cut up my card!

JC Penny Portraits. This use to be my favorite store for my family portraits. We have gone here for years… Tonight was a terrible experience. I booked for 15 people. They knew that 15 were coming. When we arrived we were told that we could only take 20 pictures. REALLY? nothing to pick from AND the photographer was awful! she did not ‘pose’ anyone, she did not make the kids smile, she could not wait to get us out of there.
I told her I would pay or book 2 sessions and was told that this is NOT Yuen Lui. That 2 sessions is not allowed. REALLY? Stay away form Pennys, try Picture People or Sears.

Nine months ago I had the most traumatizing experience with a haircut/​color, I have been trying to just make do with a ‘box color’ ever since… but as most ladies know, one can only put up with this course of action for so long and then something has to change:
I made an appointment at the JC Penney Alderwood Mall Hair Salon where Kari Solberg Schaller, is the manager… from the minute I got there, I felt like I was in good hands. Kari matched me up with one of her top stylists, Amber Williams, who is an expert in the realm of salon cut and color. She was tasked with the NOT enviable challenge of lightening my ‘box-​color’ from a ‘dark brown’ (which literally was an ugly black with a ‘blue’ tint) to a ‘medium brown’ which is no small challenge even for the most experienced colorist. Amber helped me pick out the best color choice, she designed the exact color mixture, and proceeded to apply the most efficient plan of action.
What followed was honestly the most impressive experience I have ever had in a hair salon of any kind! I have not necessarily had the best salon experiences in the past, so I am happy to report that my experience today, to my great relief, was ‘top-notch’…Amber proceeded to follow a step-​by-​step plan, including bleaching/​conditioning/​shampooing/​conditioning/​coloring/​conditioning and completed each step confidently and efficiently. She was very sure to make sure I was comfortable with each step and I was amazed at the final result — rich medium brown color! She gave me an expert haircut and blow-​dry/​style-​dry… It was exactly what I had hoped for, in fact, exceeding my expectations!
Thank you so much Amber and Kari! Soooooooooo Happy with my new and long overdue ‘do’ !!! I highly recommend the Alderwood Mall Hair Salon to anyone wanting to get the best quality haircut and color ever!!!

I really hate this company, and this store in particular. It’s like nobody is working there. I have no intention of waiting in line to pay for things at a department store. Period. I get it when I am at the grocery store. This isn’t that. Other than the overstuffed jewelry counters — nobody is working the floor. And when the cashier asks if you want her to look in back for a size, and she is alone in the department with three people behind you in line… You at forced to say «no thank you». Taking my business elsewhere.

I have a love hate relationship with JCP. I like the prices most of the time but the selection has gone WAY down.
This location is always busy and messy. I don’t think the messy thing is their fault since people are animals now.
Customer service is very lackluster. The people that work here have given up a long time ago and I can see why.
Now I loved JCP back in it’s hayday before the whole CEO sham but I don’t think they can ever recover from that.

We came here to mattress shop after walking out of Macy’s. The salesman at Macy’s only wanted to upsell us with an expensive mattress. When we came into JC Penny’s we meet Vicki and she was Very helpful, informative, and listened to our needs. We spent a little more than we planned but we knew it was our decision and not a pushy salesperson talking us into more than we wanted. Macy’s could take a few lessons from Vicki on being professional.

I have loved JCP for years. I’ll happily but a couple of suits from them. However, today I just wanted to grab socks and a pair of gloves and leave. Each kiosk had 1 or 2 customers but the clerk seemed to need to have long discussions on JCPenney’s cards and sales and all kinds of other stuff. Why can’t I just check out?

Worst customer service I have ever experienced in the Portrait studio section. I went to pick up my sons pictures that were taken over a week ago, and they are already paid for. NOBODY helped me, I stood there for THIRTY minutes waiting, the lady didn’t even acknowledge me or let me know she would assist me when she was available or anything. I WAS SO MAD I LEFT! I could not believe how rude she was.

JCP SALON ALDERWOOD has an eyebrow tech named Lindell, she is one of the best I have had waxing my eyebrows. I have used her several times over the last couple of years. She is ALWAYS PROFESSIONAL and VERY NICE. The cost is very reasonable. She is worth the effort it takes to get an appt out of the front desk. Make sure to specifically request her and you won’t be sorry.

Errrrr!!! i get so tired of deceptive advertising !!! I got a coupon for 25% off Apparel drove 18 miles to Alderwood Mall went thru their poor selection of while trying to keep an eye on my 9 year old. I go up to the register and guess what no discount. So irritating!!! Do not shop there let JC Penny’s go out of business. I have spent 30 years in sales this place deserves to go out of business!

I shop here a lot at the Big&Tall section. Pretty nice and staff is usually friendly and helpful.

This was a trip. You open the doors and you get blasted with a strong smell, the smell of the 80’s.
We came here because my boyfriend had a gift card and needed jeans. He’s 6’5 which makes it hard to find any that fit right, they had a very small big & tall section for men. He ended up finding a nice button down shirt.
Customer service was AWFUL. Taco Bell has higher standards. The lady at the customer service desk was clearly taking her break instead of checking people out, she stared at us and said «someone will be here in a min» as she sipped her drink. Really? 10 mins later a young guy shows up, he was useless. Mumbled and avoided doing anything. All we wanted to do was buy the shirt, finally another lady showed up (we waited a total of 15−20mins) and rung us up. She threw the shirt in a bag and handed it to us, so it was nice and wrinkled.
I have never been a fan of JCPenny. I still wonder how they have survived.

I’ve been to this salon twice before and it’s been ok but this trip was the worst. Not only is the cut not even but when she was adding in some low lights she picked a back color. It was supposed to be a little darker then my natural blond but t was a chestnut brown. Bad. And when she folded the foil she didnt paint the fold so some of the lowlights have missed patches. I’m spotted. Awesome. Now I have to fix this

This is a review for Sephora, I just wanted to say thank you to the sales associate who happens to also be named Kelsey, I was in a total hurry and I knew what I needed ie: mascara, eyeshadow, powder, bronzer, etc and I know what I don’t like so I was ready to try new everything and I asked her a lot of questions and said no to a lot of her suggestions but she continued to go through the whole store helping me find what I liked and worked for me, she was really great even though I was in a kinda bitchy mood she was a sweetheart the whole time and Kelsey if your reading this you were totally right about the benefit bronzer/​brightener combo I got him and I love love love it!!! Thank you for your patience, see you next time!!!

As with all Penney’s stores this day and age — this one, too, has become basically somewhere between Walmart and Target.
I’ve spent 2 parts of a day recently trying to get curtains/​drapes right from Penney’s. Some I took home from this store and others I bought on-​line.
The on-​line buy was fine, however, one of the packages of drapes had obviously been opened as it contained no internal packaging like the other new ones I received. In addition, this one was a different die-​lot and didn’t match the other 5 I bought. That is something that can be blamed on the pickers at the warehouse for not caring enough to check and make sure that all die lots match.
So…I called to return this item and exchange it for the same thing. I was told on the phone that I needed to go to the store and they could handle it for me. I would not be charged shipping.
Went to the store and took back the ones I bought there in addition to the one item that had been previously used.
The clerk is far far far far far too chatty for my tastes and, when you walk in this store, you can clearly see that Penney’s is on its way out. The Martha Stewart line? R U kidding me? Who wants that stuff that will be exactly the same as your neighbors — kind of like living in tract housing.
The transactions had to be done on different registers — why, I don’t know, so I ended up with 3 transactions, i.e., 1 to return the stuff I bought in this store, 1 to return the item I bought on-​line, and 1 to re-​order the drape. I couldn’t, of course, request a specific die lot — so am hoping that it matches what I already have/​kept. If not, ALL of them are going back.
In addition, I was to be charged shipping. What? I was told on the phone… blah, blah, blah — nothing she could do — BUT — you can ship it to the store and while you shop someone will go find it for you.
Uh huh. I won’t be shopping at Penney’s any longer. Sad, sad, sad, day. I used to LOVE shopping here and bought many, many, many things.
Bad management, bad customer service, bad inventory — just bad.

I’m not a fan of JCP at all. They just aren’t doing well and they don’t have very good clothes lately. Honestly the only reason I went in was to go to the in-​store Sephora.

I like JC Penney. I find they have a pretty good selection of business casual stuff, and I’m a guy in his early 40s, so this is where I tend to shop for clothes. Well, here or Amazon.
There’s nothing so inspiring about the JC Penney experience that I’d write a review about all the other times I’ve shopped there, but I just had one that was so «off» that I feel I just have to vent a bit.
My girlfriend bought me three pairs of corduroy pants for Christmas. I don’t generally wear corduroy, but they fit well, so I figured I’d hang onto one. I figure I’d return the other two and buy some polo shirts. So I got the receipt and headed in there, six days after Christmas.
I was surprised that there wasn’t a longer line for returns, so there’s that at least. I get to the front of the line and the woman seems kind of grumpy and distracted, which is fine I guess. She’s been handling returns all day. I’d go nuts. But then things start to go sideways. She gets the pants out of the bag and disapprovingly goes «hmm.» I actually have to ask her what’s the matter.
«It says fleece on here,» she says, looking at the receipt and then the pants. «This doesn’t look like fleece.» I remember my girlfriend talking about this. «Yeah,» I tell her, «there was some weird thing when they rang her up, that’s why there’s a second receipt.» I dig around under the pants and find the other receipt, which shows the item number and the description of the actual item (the ones I’m returning). She still looks puzzled/​concerned.
«Is this making more sense now?», I ask her. «No, not really.» «You must have something screwed up in your database.» «Yeah, I guess.» She grudgingly (it seems) continues processing the return.
The amount finally comes up, $ 65. I tell her that store credit will be fine. «No, it’s going on the card.» My girlfriend’s card. The one who bought me these as a Christmas gift.
So now I will have to ask her for the $ 65. Thank you, JC Penney, for taking my Christmas return experience from «awkward» to «tacky».

What can I say? I like JCPenney. And I’m perfectly fine with being considered an old lady because of it.
I’ve bought tons of clothes here over the years — mostly for work, since they have a pretty good selection of business casual and professional clothing. You can get really nice slacks and tops for fairly cheap.
Problem with their casual clothes is that the sizes are only from S-​XL and, well, the S sizes are too big for me. So I rarely buy casual clothes here, save for maybe jeans or shorts.
They have a fabulous dress selection here. You might not think they would, but if you are looking for a dress, you — hands down — have to visit Penneys. They have tons of options — everything from cocktail dresses to prom dresses to sundresses.
Overall, I like JCPenney and I know I’ll be back.
