I’m downgrading my rating, and rather unfairly at that, because of a few events that were rather poorly handled. I saw Leif for a couple months, during which he prescribed me some meds to address the symptoms I had. Once, I was running out of refill on my prescription and it took almost a week of calling back and forth for my pharmacy to coordinate with him. I’m not sure who dropped the ball, because my pharmacy would say that they had not heard back from Leif when I had just read a text saying that he had just faxed in an authorization the day before. Anyway, it shouldn’t take a week to coordinate that. After a few months of being on the same meds, Leif left a message with my pharmacy asking me to check in with him, which makes sense. I think your prescribing shrink is actually legally mandated by the state to check in on you every quarter(or is it every 6 months?). I texted and emailed Leif, but didn’t hear back. After about a week of radio silence, I checked my junk mail just to make sure I had not missed anything. There was no response from Leif. I didn’t follow up, because I figured that it must not have been that urgent if he didn’t reply. About a month later, I got a new health insurance and when I went to pick up my prescription, my pharmacy told me that they had to obtain a prior authorization again for this new insurance, which requires Leif to file some paperwork(I have no idea how this works… the entire industry is ripe for disruption). This time, I actually only had one pill left. I didn’t hear back from Leif and my pharmacy, and I had to quit my meds cold turkey the next day. It was ugly. I’m still pissed off about that. So, you might say that I’m writing this review out of spite. Of course, there is the possibility that Gmail mishandled my email communication or that Leif is face down somewhere in a ditch, in which case, please refer to my prior 5-star review of him. If that’s not the case, then I think it’s fair to expect that your prescribing shrink be responsive and make sure that you don’t run out of your meds, especially when quitting them cold turkey is known to have ugly side effects.
