UPDATE:(see my original post below) ive been back to smittys several times since my original posting, and ive noticed an old guy there doing the cuts. «Bob» is his name i believe. avoid this old timer bigot at all costs. not only does he turn a 3 minute buzz cut into a 15 min ordeal, he actually stops and stands there talking instead of talking while cutting, his skills seem to be no better now than they were back in ’52. he jumps around from one spot on your head to another. trying to make it look«rounded». all the while taking all day to do it. not to mention in racist remarks that he seems to be ok with saying. nice enough guy, but the length it takes him to cut and his penchant for talking while taking a break is very annoying. (original post) — ive been going there for years, i still go– for the price, not for the cuts or the atmosphere. first off, their hours are all screwed up. hey smitty, the sign say’s «9−5». that means be open from 9 to 5!!! seems they open and close whenever they want to. the cuts are decent. but for the $ 5.50 price you cant complain too much. both the women there seem to be pissed off about something. not sure what. the older appears to have one foot in the grave and the younger blonde, although shes got a nice butt, its not worth her non engaging attitude. both are smokers. ive been subject to their, «i’ll be right back», routine several times. only to have them return stinking like cigarettes. their hours seem to be hit or miss, depending on when these two women decide to show up. which is really freaking frustrating. I believe they’re closed on Mondays. and then its take a chance the rest of the week. but for the price its not bad.

Been here several times because of the price but they some how manage to mess up my hair every single time. My hair is very simple to cut, #1 on the sides, with fades of course, and #3 on top. And takes no more than 5 minutes. It either loop sided or not even. I asked them to fix it but not after a snare, then after that I was scared to ask. The last time I was there it was so badly cut that I went to a beauty school to have it fixed and it turned out they did so much better and these are students. I will not come here again at smitty, not professional in all aspects.

I received the same or better haircut that pay $ 35 elsewhere for $ 5. Not only that, I was in and in ~ 10 minutes. Close to home this place is a gem.

I used to go to Smitty’s when both of my boys were young and I couldn’t afford 3 ‘real’ haircuts. You do get what you pay for but, the reason I stopped going is that they didn’t keep the hours they had posted. After the 3rd or 4th time of showing up and find that they closed early, I moved down the street to Dawn’s. Been going there ever since.

You get what you pay for. Lady is nice, haircut was fast and super cheap. But I asked for her to even out the top and not take much off(it was about 4″ long) and she buzzed it all off. My hair grows slow and it took me 6 months to get it to that length, and within 5 minutes it was all gone. Now I look like a Marine. My advice: Be very direct and clear how much you want cut off or else…

I can’t tell you how many times I drove by this place without stopping. I am glad I finally did. Yep as everyone says $ 5.50 for the haircut. Summer I buzz it down(all clippers) and winter keep it a little longer(Scissor cut). The ladies are friendly, but they are real people and will let you know how their day is going if you ask, good or bad(truth is nice for a change). The run through the queue pretty quick, but don’t let that fool you, just because you may pay more somewhere else, doesn’t mean you get a better cut, and I like the fact they they don’t spend the whole time trying to sell you hair products. The floor does get swept, just not after each cut. If that is a health hazard… well you probably inhaled more hair as yours got cut. Didn’t get my hair blown off, they use the old fashion way, a brush. Contrary to some posts, yes they always trim my neck.

You get what you pay for 3−½ minutes. Would have given them a 5 star but they didn’t blow out my neck line nor they trimmed my neck.

This place is a health hazard. When I walked in the door there was hair from the 50 other haircuts they had done that day. It grossed me out — the blonde lady seemed nice but the other pig looked like she needed her first scotch and gin and we were just pesky customers in her way. Against my better judgement we stayed and got two cuts. Mine was a buzz cut pretty simple yet this lady was using the razor all kinds of angles where ever she felt like. Total joke. She missed several spots on my head. My Dad’s hair she just totally screwed up and his hair was longer on top of his head then the part she shaved at the bottom. I would NEVER go back to this place.

Certainly a low cost barbershop. Yes I go every 5 – 6 weeks and for $ 5.50 I can afford it. All and all the place is run down so don’t go expecting a salon experience but the girls will get the job done. yes clippers and scissors and no, I don’t get a buzz cut.

$ 5.50 a hair cut. Yes you did read that right. This place has been here for years and shame on me for not stopping here earlier. With today’s economy this place is a great find. I do not have much hair left on my head and I usually get a #2 buzz cut at most barbers, so I hate paying a lot of money to get a hair cut that takes less time then the average person’s bowel movement.(yes you read that right) This place in about a half mile east of Old Spaghetti Factory on 196th located on the opposite side of the road. Women’s cuts are the same price!(I think this place is perfect for any guy looking to get a quick buzz cut) I am not sure what their reputation is with women’s hair or guys who have longer hair. I do know I am definitely going back for sure. By the way if you know any Seniors the haircuts are only $ 5 for them which is great. I understand the weekends are very busy and they are open 9 – 5 during the week including Mondays. One point of concern is to make sure you look both ways when leaving this place because it’s a busy area with a hidden corner.
