The Movement Fix

During my massage therapy training, I started having shoulder/​wrist issues. Ryan had done a talk at my CrossFit gym previously and I decided to go see him. I had seen chiropractors in the past who seemed to crack my back for no reason, so I was skeptical about going.
Ryan is definitely not the stereotypical chiropractor type. He gets down to the cause of your issues and will provide different treatment options depending on what you need. After his talk and having a conversation with him, I can tell he does not believe in a one-​size-​fits-​all-​back-​cracking approach. I recommend my friends/​family in the area to see him and will definitely go back if I need it!

Doctor Debell’s clinic combines all the best qualities of sports medicine, massage, and chiropractic with a thorough understanding of how human beings function in motion. He has helped me troubleshoot my posture, heal, and even critique my weightlifting form. I recommend this clinic to anyone looking to fix any posture related injuries or up their fitness game.

Let’s get real, I don’t like Chiropractors. Seriously, I once had one tell me that I should never plan to work out again or lift anything over my head. What kind of a life is that? Needless to say I walked out and did not go back.
When I met Dr Debell I was skeptical because in my head he was just another Chiropractor. He is not. Dr Debell’s approach to healing with movement is amazing. I had an old back injury that would rear its ugly head from time to time, so like most other people I would rest and just try to manage the pain until it was gone. But why did it keep coming back?
This is why Dr Debell is amazing; he does not just treat your issues, he identifies the problem and the things that you are doing that you most likely have no idea are making the problem worse. After that he helps you change your habits and find a program to strengthen and heal and viola, you’re no longer managing pain. Since going to Dr D and working with him in his office and following his program outside of my visits I have been pain free and I now know what kinds of movements I should be extra careful with so that I don’t reinjure myself.
I am a gym owner and I refer all of my clients that have been managing pain for years to Dr Debell and the feedback I receive is excellent. Go check him out!

Dr. DeBell is great! Here is why:
Even though many clinics (from General Practitioner to Massage and Chiro); although the main reason you’re going is to feel better, rarely do I feel like these people are actually trying to design a solution that can be solved as quickly as possible. Oftentimes you may go to someone in the medical field, you explain your problem in Visit #1 and then they will explain how after *insert number of visits* you’ll start feeling better; typically this is 4+ visits. This isn’t Dr. DeBell’s methodology — this small detail, which may be overlooked, is HUGE.
Dr. DeBell’s approach to health and wellness is dynamic in the sense that he catering to athletes across all functions. Though he is very well-​known in the CrossFit world, the reasons I have visited him are for functions more closely-​related to Powerlifting and Weightlifting. Additionally, if I were approaching Dr. DeBell about other sports I am confident he would come up with the most efficient method of getting me to optimal performance as quick as possible.

Fantastic Clinic! As a competitive athlete that pushes my body to the limits it’s very important to have someone who can not only relate but understand what you need. Ryan has done a great job of opening my eyes on how to properly address the maintenance on my body to keep performing at a high level. Not only has he treated me but he has shared a ton of knowledge that I use to help keep me healthy. As a gym owner I have referred many members and friends to him and will continue to do so. I’ve never met a physical therapist or chiropractor who was more comprehensive that Dr. DeBell. He starts by looking at your movements, wow. He finds the underlying reason for why you are hurting, then he fixes it and better yet, teaches you how to fix it yourself too. Such an amazing Doctor.

Dr. DeBell takes a full body wellness approach which is so refreshing vs many doctors that just want to treat the area causing pain. He’s incredibly well read and passionate about setting patients up for success on their own to help guarantee long term health; not just a short term fix. Home sweet home! I love CA, but WA is where my heart is. Having a small business, I am always working long, strenuous hours. While visiting Seattle, my upper back and neck started to really bother me. The colder, wet weather seemed to aggravate my already achy body. By chance through a conversation with a friend, I was informed of Dr. DeBell at Pacific Sport & Spine. Even though I was only in town for a short amount of time, Dr. DeBell was able to squeeze me in for an appt… it’s nice to have connections.
First impressions upon arriving was how clean and bright the office space was. Having been to a chiropractor in the past, I figured it would be pretty similar to my past experiences. Dr. DeBell was very charismatic and seemed to genuinely care about his patients. His knowledge of the human body is amazing. After leaving his office, I could definitely start to feel the tight muscles in my shoulders and back start to loosen.
I would definitely recommend Dr. DeBell to anyone looking for a chiropractor.

I’ve had gone to a few Chiropractors and none really seemed to have a long term fix. As a fellow crossfitter Dr. DeBell has a well understanding of the sport and the injuries it can cause.
I have also attended his «The Movement Fix» coaches course. Learned so many things that can help my athletes as well as myself. I would recommend his practice to anyone that needs chiropractic care.

After multiple recommendations from multiple athletes, I decided to set an appointment with Dr. DeBell at Pacific Sport & Spine to treat some knee pain that I had been experiencing for the better part of 6 months.
I felt that I was in very good hands with Dr. DeBell. His clinic was clean, modern, and provided the private and intimate environment I needed for a successful recovery. I really liked that Dr. DeBell takes a full body approach; using his extensive knowledge of the human body, he was able to determine that my knee pain was originating from (i.e. the victim of) a lack of ankle mobility, which absolutely blew my mind!
After only ONE appointment (two, if you count the follow up to verify results and make sure the assessment was correct), I immediately saw results and felt that my knees were nearly back to 100%. Only one day after my first visit with Dr. DeBell, I not only felt back to normal, but I was able to set a personal record for a movement that I had been struggling with due to my chronic knee injury!
Dr. DeBell’s intense passion for recovery and his insistence that he would prefer to see his patients in as few visits as possible (feel better faster = less visits) is a refreshing approach that we don’t see often in the medical field nowadays. He’s not interested in fancy gimmicks or procedures — only recovery.

I’ll qualify this review by stating that I have seen first hand the testimonials and life changing results that Dr. DeBell has had with his patients. Being a former peer and patient (and current colleague) I can attest to his passion and dedication to not only making people well and eradicating their pain, but also making them move and feel better than they thought ever was possible.
Dr. DeBell is the type that goes home after challenging himself at a long day of work to read a textbook front to back. He somehow has time to treat patients, educate athletes, coaches and clinicians in seminars and maintain a busy movement based blog all at the same time. His education and treatment skillset is the most up to date in any clinician you will find and his drive to push himself and others in the field is unmatched.
Any complicated case about nutrition, rehab/​exercise, or movement, I am constantly on the phone with Dr. DeBell taking his advice. Simply put, he is the go to expert in any of these fields.
Patients and clinicians alike have much to learn from Dr. DeBell about getting and staying out of pain on their own. There is no one else in the Alderwood (or even greater Seattle) area I would refer any of my patients to before Dr. DeBell in any instance.
