SCE Federal Credit Union

I would not recommend this bank to anyone. They have poor customer service and I was not happy being a customer. They make closing an account very difficult and I will be so happy when I finally close my account with them.

This Credit Union is better than banks in most areas of service, however it does have some similar issues as do banks when it comes to small, short term loans. That is why I am giving it two stars. In most areas of service it probably deserves a five star rating. This Credit Union however, is probably also constrained by many banking rules similar to those of banks, which are under the result of new constraints of government rules and regulations enforced by imperious «back room» underwriters. Unfortunately this uninspired paradigm appears to result in the attempts of marketing of loans and mortgages to those who don’t really need them while shutting out those who really could use them. This, I am sure is what the banking industry thinks is a «safe» way of conducting business however the efficacy of this for improving the economy appears to leave a lot to be desired.

I have had a joint savings account with my mother with scefcu since I was a child. But I did not control it or gain access to it until I was an adult. Also, this location did not exist yet. I had bank accounts with chase and bofa for years with little issues her and there then they started with the bs and major fees and I had to go. SO I eventually got a checking with them, and Ive been to other locations but this one is my «home bank». I love it! The associates are always pleasant, and they remember you, which I love. My brother and mother bank here too and they know all of us, even though we have never been to the bank together. I really love that little personalized touch, and feel a sense of security knowing that as well. As far as SCEFCU its self, I have had no issues with them whatsoever *knock on wood* and highly recommend them!

I have banked with all the other major banks in lynwood {BOA, Chase/​WAMU, Wells Fargo, and Union Bank}… none are near the true service you would expect from a bank. Credit Unions are the way to go. Their bottom is service not profits, though i believe all businesses must make a profit to exist. Major banks make that their priority over the service they… should be providing.
SCEFCU has set the bar in simplified banking, they are up front about the charges that exist in the account. NO GIMMICS, NO SUPRISES, NO BullStuffing! And they are the lowest and least. No having to wait in line for an hour to deposit a check, they hold events for their members (used car sales and very low interest rates).
If you live near ANY Credit Union… you should drop in and see what they have to offer. There are many CU-​access points in most 7 – 11 to draw out money. its just so much more convenient than any major bank in the state.
Give your local Credit Union a chance… you will notice the difference in your banking experience.
