Sadly, I was not impressed with the food. My friend loves the place so I tried it. I was greeted warmly and the waitress explained the menu to me, then I was led to a seat. I was the only person there. I liked the décor — colorful and casual. The food was brought to me pretty quickly. The plate of food was large, and for a good price(about the same or less as a smaller portion at most BBQ places — $ 16 or so for 2 meats and 2 sides). However, the brisket began to squirt greasy fluid everywhere when I started trying to cut it, and it was tough in some places and squishy in others. It also tasted more like ham than anything. The pulled pork’s texture was okay, but I didn’t care for the sauce, which mostly just tasted sour/vinegary — that one we can chalk up to personal taste, as I prefer a sweet and smokey BBQ. Similarly, the mac n cheese had a fine texture but little flavor. There was a slight creaminess, but really no cheesiness. The salt potatoes were the only thing I liked okay, but they didn’t stand well on their own. In a last ditch attempt to find something good, I got dessert — the cheesecake. It was very dense and again, rather flavorless. I prefer a lighter, sweeter cheesecake, but I have a hard time seeing anyone enjoying that bland block. The cream on top was not creamy or sweet, nor was the cake itself. I really wonder if I went on a «bad day»… I wanted to like the place, so I may try again.

Great bbq! The Mac and cheese and the beans are amazing! All of the desserts are homemade as well, and fantastic. Call ahead, it’s a family business and they will be closed if they are out of town.

We stopped in on this past Saturday. Nobody was there to greet or welcome us. We walked into the dining room and were told to wait until someone could seat us. We waited 15 minutes then were told we’d have to wait a bit more. There were plenty of open tables. No explanations. Very rude people. Then we overheard them tell someone that they were out of 2 of the 4 items they had on the menu. It was 5:00 and they had already ran out of selections. Ridiculous. Horrible customer service. Would never recommend this place. If you only offer four selections you shd make sure you have enough for your customers. They opened at 4 pr 4:30 and were already out of food? Bad planning, bad service. Don’t bother going.

Fan-friggin’-tactic! Incredible special of two attached pork chops that are practically a pork roast all its own. Tender & juicy. Good simple barbecue at a good price.

Thrilled to find a decent bbq place with a clean modern atmosphere and no need to drive to the big city! The menu is limited, but in a good way. All your favorite bbq fare is here. The special of the night was a double pork chop with an apple bbq sauce, which was exceptional. I will be wanting this smokey sweet sauce, with clear forward notes of apple and a backdrop of cinnamon, again! The side of salt potatoes was perfect, often served waterlogged in other joints, but here were creamy, and not too salty/greasy. Mac-n-cheese was everything you’d want, cheesey, but not drowning, with some browned edges and panko crumb for texture. Beans were clearly NOT from a can, nicely seasoned, thankfully free of any heavy sweet sauces that would overwhelm the flavor and texture of the red bean. Corn bread was perfect: moist, with pieces of corn in the dough and toasty edges. Ribs had a good char, possibly should have had a slower cook as the meat was reluctant to leave the bone, but this is preferable to the opposite, where the meat becomes mush. Dessert of peanutbutter pie had smooth creamy texture, lightly sweet. I was able to eat it all, where usually such a dessert would quickly tire my tastebuds. Prices are jaw droppingly reasonable for the quantity&quality. Someone in the kitchen cares and has elevated the standard bbq fare, without fuss, pretention or overblown costs. The atmosphere has a modern vibe overall, clean but warm, and could benefit from some artwork on its bare red dining room walls. Dont hesitate to give this place a chance, as good or better than several big name joints in Rochester and at half the price without the drive.

Service was fast and friendly. Atmosphere was modern and clean. They were out of the ribs, but we will definitely be back to give them a try. The server said the are St Louis style but they fall off the bone. Yum! Mac and cheese was good too.

Awesome place, it’s really a hidden gem. The prices are unbelievably low, the service is phenomenal, and the food is out of bounds! The ribs were great and the brisket was also great, I will be visiting this place much more often!

Summary: Bone Appetit BBQ is a BBQ restaurant off the beaten path in Lyons, NY. Cost: Most entrees are about $ 15. The portions are very large though. We had to bring home our leftovers as we couldn’t finish them. Taste: The BBQ is good. I’m withholding 1⁄1.5 stars because I personally didn’t like the BBQ Sauce as much as Dinosaur BBQ, and the cornbread isn’t my style. The beans were good though, and the BBQ Pulled Pork was good. The menu is very small, but it doesn’t have to be large to contain some real tasty winners. I’ve only been here once, but both my fiancée’s meal and my own were tasty. They also seem to have a little bakery here with some home made desserts, but they case was empty when we came. Perhaps they bake later in the evening. Atmosphere: It’s a nice little place on the side of a country road. Much better in my opinion than the crammed and busy Dinosaur BBQ. Oddly enough, they’re only open 3 days a week(Th-Sa), from 4PM to 9PM. We went near opening and were the only people there. Overall: I liked it here. I’m reserved from giving it a 5 as I personally prefer Dinosaur BBQ more, but to say this place is bad would be a lie.

Great food. I liked it better than dinosaur BBQ and its much more local. They now have beer and finger lakes wines too. Even better! Go for the Friday night special, they are always good!

7−1−12. They have seating for at least 30 people in the dining area. The chicken is good and decently portioned. The ribs have a nice thin smoke and sauce crispy crust that I appreciate and that adds to the texture of the meat which was tasty. The Pulled pork and Brisket were consistent with my last experience about two months ago. Curiously, they had to limit our party of five to only two orders of the racks of ribs,(the sides of three ribs were still available, and tasty) because they were running low. Business is apparently good, so perhaps Thursday, Friday, or earlier on Saturday are better choices of times. The Dine-in menu has more choices with combos and specials, which is a good option.
