Falafelji is a heavy hitter on our weekly«order food» night. Chicken Shawarma platter is our fav — get a side of pickles with it! Cucumber salad is delicious. A platter is big enough for dinner & lunch the next day. So good.

First timer. Had the chicken schwarma sandwich. Liked the pickles but it had too much sauce on it. The falafel and baba were good. Husband got the combo platter. He said it was just ok. Maybe we’ll come back, not sure. Prefer Pita Inn-wish it was closer!

Cheap and delicious food. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is super casual. The falafel is loaded, the fries are piping hot, and the shawarma(chicken) was great according to the in laws. Try the garlic sauce too. Great on fries and your sandwich as well.

I finally got to eat some food from here, and it was very good. Being a vegetarian, I was excited to see a felafel place coming so close to home. Their soups, dips, and salads are excellent, but I always get a falafel entrée. Always. I’ve heard that other people dining with me really like the chicken things, but I’m a falafel junkie. There. I said it.

Can’t get enough of this excellent shawerma and everything else here is the best! The staff is nice but I always take this excellent stuff to go because the dining area is small and not really offering any type of ambiance to speak of. However, it’s really clean.

Had the falafels and herb fries. Absolutely delicious and fresh. Love the kalamata olive sauce and garlic mayo. Always fresh, fast, and reasonable.

I had to update my review. The food is still excellent, but the last few times I’ve ordered, I’m usually disappointed with something. I ordered online and drove from the city on my lunch break because I had such a taste for it. I got there and they never made my order. On top of it, as I’m walking out, I noticed they forgot BOTH orders of my humus. I went back to get it and then I realized as I heard to the door that they forgot my pitas. Last week i ordered 4 dinners and a large humus only to find there were ZERO pitas in the bag.(Kinda hard to enjoy humus without pitas!) And now today is Friday, the weekend, and they are all out of rice… it’s the weekend… it’s a Mediterranean restaurant… very disappointed because that’s my favorite part! I was totally looking forward to it. The food is really good so I guess I’ll hope for better luck next time, but they really need to get it together over there.

Amazing food! I was in the area and Unilocaled this place and was very impressed! I’ve had middle Eastern food from the north side of Chicago and south suburbs and I think Falafelji hands down is the best! I ordered the steak shawarma sand which which was flavorful and loaded with generous portions of meat, the small order of falafel which was so tasty and probably the best I’ve had anywhere and lastly, the hummus… Mmmm mmmmm mmmmm! It was so good! Whatever they put on the hummus that gives it a little bit of a kick is delicious!

I got take out from Falafelji a week ago and thought it was just okay. I got a chicken shawarma platter and really didn’t find it anything special. The chicken was okay and borderline almost dry. The salad that can with the platter is nothing to talk about. The best part of the platter was the one grilled tomato and jalapeño. The grill onion was still too raw to really enjoy. Then my friends decided to go to this place and I thought I would give it a another try eating in. I got the beef shawarma sandwich and the small hummus. The hummus was actually pretty good with the warm pita, so my hopes were not lost at first. The beef shawarma sandwich knocked my hope back to the ground. I had a couple pieces of vegetables on the top on my sandwich, but the rest of the sandwich was really just beef and pita. The taste wasn’t anything special. I gave it two tries and that might be enough for me, sadly.

I go to Falafelji about 3 times a week. The location is perfect for those looking to end their workout at the nearby XSport and load up on protein. I highly recommend teh side of chicken Shawarma or Chicken Kabob. the 4 piece Falafel is also a great option. I wish they still had the roasted red pepper hummus which I’ve been pushing«Abe» to sell again, it was taken off the menu due to low demand =( I hear Chicken Tikka Massala(or an Indian flavored chicken) will be served soon, looking forward to it!

So, I figure after a solid year of coming to Falafelji, I should probably update my review. Still amazing — still delicious — still driving 31 miles to get the best Middle Eastern eats I have ever had. I counted it up the other day: I have been to 11 Middle Eastern joints across the Chicago suburbs and only Cedar Grill in Downers Grove is CLOSE to OK compared to Falafelji. It’s not even in the same galaxy comparatively, but it is good enough to get my fix when I need somewhere local. It has got to be the love the chefs put into this food that makes it so exquisite. It also has to be the care and passion the owner devotes into picking out his ingredients and buying his food to prepare. The veggies are always top notch, the spices are always out of this world, and the preparation of the food is always done consistently and thoroughly. The only people who could not like this place are as follows: — People who don’t like to wait for quality food and expect everything to be ready to walk out the door in 3 minutes max. –People who only have had Naf Naf and think that real Middle Eastern food is the generic tasting food they serve there. –People who hate flavor and quality. –People who do not like Middle Eastern food(this is the only justifiable reason, btw). –People who like their falafel tasting like chicken(See Pitaville review as a reference). Every time I come to Falafelji, I don’t talk to my boyfriend. I relish in the delicious food and don’t even have words to say while enjoying this fabulous establishment. Please, do yourself a favor, if you like Middle Eastern food, please just try this place. You’ll love it. If you don’t, you must be communist.
