This place is really good if you just need a quick meal(on especially if you’re on a budget). I usually order the Mongolian Beef or the Kung Pao Chicken. The ladies who work there are always super friendly and very accommodating.

I live just around the corner, and HKE is my answer whenever I need a take-out American-Chinese fix. Often if I have a lot of grocery shopping to do and don’t want to cook that night, I’ll stroll into HKE, place my order, stroll across the parking lot to the grocery story, then come back to pick up my food before heading home. Their General Tso’s is excellent, and their Egg Foo Youngs are solid(and come with one of the most addictive brown gravies I’ve ever had, anywhere). If you order their Moo Shu Pork, plan to call ahead, as it takes them a while to prepare it(especially due to the pancakes that come with it). That being said? It is DELICIOUS. Their fried and steamed dumplings are good. Heavy on the meat, heavy on the stomach, but very tasty. Egg rolls are good, but nothing to write home about. If you prefer fried rice to steamed with your meal though, prepare to be disappointed. Their side of fried rice is one of the most boring versions I’ve ever seen, with just a couple of pieces of onion and an almost Saffron yellow color(with none of the brilliant saltiness of real Saffron rice). Definitely go for the steamed rice instead. They do quite well with phone orders. Ordering ghetto takeout Chinese over the phone often feels like you’re going to get something totally different when you arrive, but they’ve always gotten right everything I’ve called in and ordered. Portions are huge. If I’m not starving, I can get the combo General Tso’s with Rice, and a small Egg Drop Soup and feed myself and my girlfriend, plus have enough leftovers for lunch the next day. They have seating, but I’ve never stayed and eaten there. The booths are pretty much just for you to sit in while you wait for your order if it wasn’t ready when you walked in. Not sure why It’s not letting me vote on the price(it shows up, but doesn’t allow me to click?), but this is definitely a $(Sub $ 10 per person) place.

If you’ve gotta get your Chinese food fix, its just as good as the others in my opinion. Orange Chicken, Chicken and Veggies, Potstickers/Dumplings, and Tso’s Chicken are among my favorites form there. If it’s near you and you need a quick and tasty meal, go to Hong Kong Express! Also, they have some cheap wings!(If I remember correctly its 100 for $ 20.00)

oops. went back here tonight as i was craving some chinese… and i’m always on the student budget, so… hong kong express it was. maybe this place is only a go to spot when you’ve been on call and are stuck in a hospital conference room studying– because tonight, after mass, hong kong express was NOT the answer. my chicken with black bean sauce should have been called«sauteed onions and tasteless brown sauce with random bits of what may or may not be chicken». i don’t want to finish my dinner, and am now settling into a bag of peanut m&m’s instead. i don’t know which of my reviews best reflects the REAL hong kong express… but right now, I’m don’t plan on going back to figure it out. boooo!
