You ever hear the saying that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach? Well, that goes for us ladies also if you happen to own a restaurant but it would be «The way to a woman’s wallet is through her stomach.» I plan to open my wallet much more often and I encourage you to do the same. Share the love… share, share, share. Okay, onto the food. I ordered a rib/roll plate which consisted of two tasty rib bones, two sides, a soft dinner roll, and a pickle spear for $ 9.00. For my sides I chose macaroni and cheese, and smoked potato salad. I ordered sweet tea to drink which was an extra dollar. Sauce is served on the side. I like spice and heat so I chose the spicy«ooh wee» sauce(stop laughing, I didn’t make that up that’s actually what its called). The ribs are perfect, I’ve never tasted such perfection when it comes to ribs in my life. They are really just that good. The sauce is tasty, but it’s not even necessary. The ribs are so perfectly seasoned that you really don’t even need it. I alternated between dipping some in the sauce and eating some of the meat plain. Those ribs are so good, they make you want to slap your mama. Hell, they make you want to slap everyone’s mama. That’s what I’m going to call them from now on… Lil Benny’s famous«slap everyone’s mama» ribs. Plus, they were the perfect texture. Not fall off the bone tender like baked oven ribs, and not fight with it until you break your teeth tough like typical smoked bbq tends to be sometimes. They were just right. Tender with enough bite to still qualify as being characteristic of having been smoked. The macaroni and cheese was good. Mr. Benny allowed me to sample the potato salad before buying it which was nice of him. I liked it and so I chose that for my other side. It’s got a very nice flavor and I was excited because I always wanted to try potato salad made with the skins still on the potato. Now, I wouldn’t order it again because I’m just personally spoiled by traditional potato salad… you know the mustard, celery, etc. types. Otherwise it was still good and I still would recommend it as a side. Don’t tell me you need input on the pickle spear? The dinner roll was just your basic good tasting yeast roll. I think I could have eaten the whole thing were it not for the temperature of it. Nothing wrong with the roll, it was good but I just personally prefer bread to be warm/somewhat on the hot side. Once again, something that is just my own personal preference. Sweet Tea? Forget about it, it’s the best I’ve had coming from a restaurant in a long time. Now that’s something I wouldn’t mind buying by the gallon sometime later in the future. No competition and nothing compares. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, the man himself Mr. Benny. He was my cashier, and he fixed my plate and brought it out to me for me to enjoy. He answered all my questions and was very hospitable. Plus he’s a mind reader. As I sat at the table, which he coaxed me into dining in and i’m glad he did, I enjoyed his company as he told me about the restaurant and spoke lovingly of his wife/co-owner who also helps to prepare the sides. Yep, it’s a family affair and I just love it. Anyway, he loved rubbing it in my face that he made me into a believer and he understood my skepticism because most bbq joints in macon are nasty. Told you he reads minds, and I’m glad he understood. Macon is one of those cities where people eat anything and say it’s good. If you love his food, he has prepackaged versions that you can buy and take home. According to Mr. Benny, if you follow the instructions to the tee, it tastes just like it came off the grill. Well, I know what I’ll be doing this summer whenever I want good ribs. In the meantime, I officially plan to return to have dinner here at least once throughout the week from now on. Well, let me just say I hate to write such a glowing review because I know the traffic to this place will soon be unbelievable(and rightfully so) but the truth must be told. What can I say, the owners put love and passion into that food and you can taste it. He’s right, cooking is a dying art but I’m glad that there are grillmasters like him to feed us well. I’m officially in love with famous Benny’s «slap everyone’s mama» ribs and that kicking macaroni and cheese. I can see them earning the last star with subsequent visits.

I placed a catering order with Lil Benny’s yesterday for a meeting that took place today. This is a husband and wife establishment which is hard to find in the chain restaurant world we live in these days. They were both so helpful in getting the menu for the event and with taking care of every last detail. They provide me with the needed invoice and took care of everything over the phone for me. They arrived today early and with the most delicious BBQ. The order was prepared perfectly and everything we needed was brought for us. The food was a huge success! The attendees loved it and they all couldn’t stop asking where the food came from and the address. Everyone said they couldn’t wait to go there in the future for some delicious food. Benny himself delivered the food and he was so genuine and a great person. The passion he has for his business shows in his love of the food. They even called later in the day to check-up on how everything went and make sure I was happy with the food and service. You just don’t find that level of customer service and passion anymore and it was a pleasure to do business with them. If you are in the Macon, GA are I highly recommend you check out Lil Benny’s Smokehouse!!!

Just had a savory and flavorful pulled pork sandwich with potatoe salad and the best baked beans I’ve had in some time, with an ice cold Coca-Cola. My friend enjoyed a leg quarter roll meal and he’s says its«really good, man» lol. Oh! And the sweet tea knocks McDonald’s out of the water. I’m extremely satisfied and will be coming back!

I tried the ribs, pulled pork and smoked chicken white meat. It was so well flavored that it did not need a sauce. This place is a real find! Somewhat hidden away at the intersection of Windish Road and Riverside Drive. Look for it and experience barbecue and smoked meat prepared by a grilling pro who really knows his seasonings. Meats are packed in a cryo-pac and are convenient to take home and enjoy later. Bennie has also created two great sauces that complement the meat perfectly. Once you enjoy his products, you will definitely come back for more.
