I’ve been looking forward to eating here for quite some time only to drive here and discover closed doors at 8pm on a Friday night. Is this place still open? If so I would love to get some hours either posted on the door or left on the answering machine. If anyone who’s actually eaten here knows the hours I would definitely appreciate being clued in.

Yabu is a very small cozy restaurant located above Ginger Stir Fry. You do have to trek up a steep flight of stairs but the space is really nice. I haven’t tried anything other than the sushi rolls, but they’ve all been great. I’ve had: Crunchy Spicy Crab Roll, Hawaii Roll, Monster Roll, Sumo Roll & Sunrise Roll. I highly recommend them all! Everything is very fresh at Yabu. I’m giving only 3 stars because there were a few things I didn’t like. The only complaint I have about the food is that you don’t get a lot of food for the price. I understand that the vibe Yabu is going for isn’t that of a quick sushi stop, but if I’m paying $ 10 – 15 for a roll, I don’t want to be hungry when I’m done! Also, the seating anywhere other than the booths are a bit awkward. While the backless benches and stools look cool, it’s just not comfortable at all. Another thing I don’t get is why the waitresses wear 5 inch heels?! This surely can not be safe. My friends and I were worried our waitress was going to fall bringing out our food! That, and the service wasn’t as fast as it should’ve been because the waitresses were teetering from the kitchen to the tables. Just seemed a bit silly to me.

Best sushi in Macon /Warner Robins. This is the only place I actually had a good experience at the sushi bar. I had sashimi and nigiri omakase-style from the head chef, Mykal(sp?). Fresh cuts, fun garnishes, nice presentation, I have been hunting for a sushi place like this for a long time. Far better than anything I tried at Mikata or Taki. The waitresses were lively, chatty, and thankfully spoke English very well. I went Tuesday evening, their slowest night, so I enjoyed a very relaxed pace, but it’s obvious they mostly cater to the noisier club crowd. I imagine many people pre-game their night here before walking to one of the nearby bars. If you’re taking your family, go for lunch or an early dinner. If you want to party, start your night here with happy hour drinks and a few sushi rolls so you don’t get full when you start drinking down the road at Just Tap’d or The Crazy Bull. The waitresses can recommend other good bars and restaurants nearby. This place is easy to miss. It’s only a single red door with a chalkboard sign out front, and it opens to a flight of stairs. Take the climb, enjoy the food.

Small and quaint in size, hidden in plain site for location, trendy atmosphere, friendly service and great sushi! All the things that make for a cool experience from entry to exit. The entry is illuminated by a single canvas canopy and a faint door sign. It sits on top of Ginger and if you were simply strolling around, you would never think a great sushi roll was a staircase away. I came here on a «must try» recommendation while in neighboring Warner Robins for work. It was about a 25 minute drive for me, so I had high hopes and I must admit, low expectations. Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised and the drive was more than worth it. The house saki cocktails were tasty and not too strong, the staff was friendly and welcoming and the sushi was fresh, creative, presented beautifully and of course, super tasty! As a relatively new place in Macon, I hope the good word continues to spread amongst everyone and this place hangs around for a good while. Overall, I did not have a bad thing to say about my visit and when back in town, it will definitely be on my dinner calendar!

This is probably my favorite restaurant in my short time in Macon so far! The sushi is very well done and the atmosphere is great! Spacious, well-appointed, and chic! Don’t let the small entrance fool you. You’ll love Yabu!
