DIABETICSBEWARE! My wife, who is a type 1 diabetic, a nurse and diabetic educator, was chosen from a field of applicants and awarded a grant co-sponcored by the ADA(American Diabetes Assoc) and Core Fitness Solutions for a 4 week boot camp. CFS advertises on their website that they work specifically with diabetics and even have the ADA logo listed as a partner. After attending the first day of training, it turns out that the owner and staff of CFS have absolutely no training on diabetes and the management of type 1 diabetes through diet and exercise. In fact, the trainers, who didn’t even know my wife was a type 1 diabetic, admitted to not knowing enough about the disease and regularly asked my wife for information and advice! The nutritionist and chef on staff had no idea how to create a specific daily menu to meet my wife’s dietary needs based on the 5 ½hr intense daily workouts. My wife’s notes are a page long listing the numerous instances, occurrences and complete negligence for safety. The owner made several unprofessional, snide comments to the point of making my wife cry. Needless to say, my wife left after 13 days because she feared for her life! If your a diabetic, look elsewhere for diabetic fitness and training! DIABETICSBEWARE!
