I stumbled across this place without looking it up first and found the prices to be hardly under 17 dollars for meals that didn’t sound like anything special. We ended up just getting drinks and my peach daiquiri came out overflowing(not always a bad thing) but all over the glass and table so I couldn’t even pick it up. It wasn’t blended fully and I could hardly sip it through the straw because the ice was still in big chunks. It cost 20 dollars with tip for a daiquiri and a beer. Yikes.

Possibly the worst fish(fish?) tacos I’ve ever been served. Grouper was cold, stringy and a bit slimey. The server was very friendly, offered to bring another plate that was more«well done.» She confided that she asked the cook herself if the fish was thoroughly cooked before she served it. Ugh, the second set of tacos were just as awful, still cold and stringy. What? I couldn’t even drown the taste with salsa. It tasted like the stuff that comes in the gallon containers in a fast food joint. The restaurant could use some updating as well, seems shabby and the bathrooms questionable. In all fairness, the manager came to the table and apologized and took the meal off the check. Overall a disappointing luncheon experience.

I came here last night with a group of 7 people including 2 children, and we were seated quickly. The service was good; our guy brought drinks refills without being asked. The entrees we had were nicely prepared. I loved the coconut shrimp entrée! However, like others have stated, the side items were really disappointing. Both the veggies and fries seemed like what you’d buy frozen at the grocery store for $ 1 a bag and half-heartedly heat up on a random weeknight dinner. Nothing special, and kind of sad actually. The bathrooms were very tiny for such a big restaurant.

$ 40 for 3 people to eat breakfast? and we’re not talking fancy breakfasts, I’m talking your generic 2 eggs, sausage, toast and hashbrowns. the hashbrowns look like they came out of a bag from publix and the sausage is Jones brand that you can get at the grocery store too. oh and lets not forget $ 3 each for coffee. I’ll go to doe does diner on Baypines and get the same thinng, coffee included for like 5 bucks. we only went for the view, and boy did we pay for it! Parking for sculleys is also 10 bucks. what a ripoff.

3rd time in t3 years eating here… it will be the last. Service is poor, overpriced crappy food. There are a lot more places that have better food and better service. Get out and read the reviews. Enough said eat at your own risk

Coconut shrimp was amazing but the instant mashed potatoes and what tasted like Ore Ida fresh out of the frozen bag French fries was quite the disappointment. If you’re going to have such a pricey but delicious coconut shrimp dinner, send it over the top with awesome sides. No «short cuts»

The food was really damn good. I got the fish n chips. My issue tho, the bathrooms are not wheelchair friendly. Not even close. You can’t even get a wheelchair in the door. My chair is not very big. Been drinking beer and need to pee. Not at this location.

I was going to give 1 star, but the food wasn’t TERRIBLE, so I guess I’ll go 2. I don’t give bad reviews to often… I’m pretty easy to please. Plenty of better choices on the boardwalk… really disappointed. I wanted to like this place too… sangria wasn’t any good, grouper sandwich was below par. To be honest(this is sad) the best part was the kids strawberry/banana smoothie… those were great! Too bad… great location, less than average everything else.

Food is good but not great. Better options exist in the area. The steak was ok, my wife said the shrimp alfredo was decent. Service from the waiter we had was decent but not great.

We had the best time at this little find. We walked right up and felt at home. Everyone was so nice & friendly. The food is typical bar food & nothing to rave about. It’s the atmosphere that is what makes this place. It was hopping due to the seafood festival on the same weekend but the staff acted like it was a normal crowd.

Not a good experience at all. The food is not good I could have gotten better at a off the highway Mcdonalds. The view is great and seeing the dolphins was wonderful.

Sculley’s offered the ‘boardwalk and seafood’ we wanted, but didn’t exceed our expectations. The crab legs were amazing and abundant at that. The view from the restaurant was beautiful overlooking the lake. Great experience, would definitely recommend, but there are other seafood options that are more impressive.

The place sits right on the water. I was expecting a little nicer décor, but thought it had to be good. Wrong. Service was meh. Food tasted like it came out of a warm two day old cooler. If it wasn’t for the view I would rate it one star. Go elsewhere. You will be happy you did.

Awesome open air dining area with live music right on the water. Recommend the shrimp palm salad with the mango vinaigrette for a nice light lunch. Servers were very friendly even though they were very busy. Overall, we had a lovely dining experience here.

Awww boo to the bad reviews. We came here while visiting John’s Pass upon recommendation from the lady at the front desk of our hotel. It looks really cruddy on the outside but I’m glad we ended up going in! We got seated promptly and our waitress was Emily who was super friendly, cheerful and didn’t act like she hates her job. I did notice that all the other servers in this restaurant look really unhappy to be there and very snobbish. They don’t even acknowledge with a smile or a «hi» as you enter the rest. WTF? I was worried we’d end up with one of them but luckily that didn’t happen! We had a starving prego with us so asked Emily to bring us a soup right away and she was taken by surprise, since we didn’t even give her a chance to talk. She did though and our prego was super happy haha. Food was actually really delish! We each ordered the clam chowder which was so filling and hearty. Poifect! We also ordered crabmeat stuffed mushrooms and fried scallops and shrimp to share, linguine with marinara for the kiddies and the monster fish sandwich to share. Im a huge fan of fried foods(my thighs don’t thank me for that) and so i wasn’t sure what to expect from here. It was actually so scrumptious! The batter wasn’t too overbearing or thick and had a nice light crunch to it. Score! At least I don’t have to taste all the calories I’m intaking :) Also, the mushrooms were amazing!!! It’s a shame this place has so many negative reviews… we left with a really positive experience… Emily was great, and the other servers need to learn from her how to smile a little more often! PS — We saw dolphins swimming in the water after our meal!

This place is terrible. It’s such a cool area and right on the water, and really sucks to have the whole experience ruined by what you think will be a good place to stop by for food and/or drinks. The first time we went there, absolutely no on existed to direct you to a table, inside? Outside? Left side? Right side? I don’t want to sit in the area that’s not being used! Anyways, we sat down for about 30min on their dock, and pretty much left because no on even came to our table. The 2nd time I was with my brother who came in from out of town, and I wanted to show him a good time. We sat at the bar for drinks only, and the bar tenders were pretty oblivious. They seemed agitated to want to serve anyone and you had to flag them down because apparently an empty cup isn’t a sign that I need more. They drew Us in with a buy 1 get one ticket from their parking lot, but the don’t do anything to keep you there. DONTWASTEYOURTIME, because if you come here, that’s all it will be, is wasted.

I really wanted to like this place. This visit was the first time I have been to John’s Pass in years. It’s really a great spot. We sat at a table with a nice view of the water hand boats. It was fun watching boats come and go, and our server was friendly. Those are pretty much the only good things I have to say, unfortunately. The server was friendly, but the service was slow. I could forgive that if the time was spent cooking a delicious meal, but I ended up with very sub par shrimp tacos. Nothing is worse than sketchy shrimp. My husband was not a fan of his food either. We didn’t even bring home our leftovers. I won’t be back to Sculley’s.

It is sad but seemingly true that this place has survived for years on the overflow traffic from some of the other places at John’s Pass. Tired of the wait at Bubba Gump? Not in the mood for pizza from Delosa’s? Just realized that you paid for parking and that Walt’z has closed for the day — plus your feet hurt from a day at the beach … stop for a while at Sculley’s and take what they serve you. If you can find a server, that is. Actually, the service isn’t that bad … the problem is with the layout of the place. The shops here want to have an eclectic air, as though they were built from driftwood and shipping crates held together with sail cloth and rope. This is fine in fantasy, but in reality does not make it easy for the wait staff to get around easily of remain within eye sight of their tables. The food is passable, but unexceptional. Being a stone throw away from Gulf of Mexico means that a restaurant can lean towards basic tourist fare(they likely won’t know how boring it is) and get away with it. Locals tend to shy away from such places, unless they are entertaining out-of-townees who believe boat drinks and breezes are more important than fine dining.

I just went to Sculley’s for the first time 2 nights ago. I went with my 2 young children, mom and my mom’s cousin and family. My mom recommended it, but I don’t think I’ll let her pick the restaurant next time. My mom’s cousin lives in Kansas and rarely comes to Florida, so we wanted to take them to a beachy restaurant with a view, which we didn’t get. Sculley’s is located on John’s Pass which is definitely for tourists, not locals who know better. There are fish all over the walls and the place looks like a giant fishing shack. I also didn’t appreciate the nasty carpet throughout the restaurant. The service was just okay. The hostess was almost friendly and our server was forgetful and either stretched thin with her table load or inexperienced. Some of our orders were messed up. They gave my husband a baked potato instead of fries and my son was missing the bottom of his burger. In addition, one of my family members noticed that the server set the serving trays on top of the open ice bin and used their hand in addition to the scoop to fill the cups. We were seated right next to the drink station so we had a «good» view. I just hope they didn’t do that with our drinks, though I doubt it. As for the food, my shrimp scampi was bland and the shrimp was over-cooked. I had to squeeze lots of lemon juice, which thankfully they provided, and sprinkle generous amounts of salt and pepper on top to make it edible. It sat in a pool of butter. It came with garlic toast but it wasn’t hot. Everyone else said they enjoyed their meals, but the 17 year old boy who sat across from me didn’t look like he liked it at all. I think they were just being polite mid-westerners. Overall, I was pretty disappointed in Sculley’s. I definitely will not go back there. There are too many other good places to eat at on the beach. Bubba Gump’s, also on John’s Pass, offers a much nicer view. I’ll try them next time.

The last time I was here was about 7 years ago. It used to be fairly good, never great. I should have looked at the Unilocal reviews before we sat down. I’ll get right to it, the food stunk ! I mean stunk !! The food actually bad me ill afterward !! I mean puking ill !! We usually just start off with appetizers and if they do a good job we’ll order lunch or dinner. We did the same getting the bulk ‘you get one of everything’ appetizer plate. Service also stunk. Some older lady that showed no interest in making your dining experience a good one. This place stays in business because of it’s location and view of the water. No other reason ! Go down to Bubba Gump’s yes it’s a chain but you’ll have a good time, get good service(as we did) and get good prepared food that won’t make you sick.
