Ate here randomly while in town for business. Bottom line, the Carne Asada is amazing. The carnitas was too salty and greasy for my taste. Minus points for no chicken, no sour cream(c’mon son!), no debit/credit, no avocado or guacamole(seriously?). Asked for water and got charged a dollar. Other than that, the Chile is really good with the right kick. The cheese was melted, which nobody does. The tortilla was a nice and crispy the way I like it. If I’m in town again I’ll make sure to bring cash, my own sour cream, and stick with the Carne Asada.

I have always loved everything about this place, but today was the most upsetting experience. The food has never been bad, but the customer service was unbelievably horrible. I experienced the rudest and most disrespectful way to treat a customer. I could barely even speak before getting cut off, followed by every time I would ask a simple question(due to them no longer being able to make burritos today) I would get a disgusted look with a rude response. I love the food, but if someone can’t appreciate having their food purchased while also saying please and thank you I don’t think I want to return.

This review is way way over due! So as mentioned by other reviewers, this place is really a hidden gem in Madera. If you are coming down«D» street and blink you will miss it. However Madera natives know exact where to come for fantastic food. I was born and raised in Madera and the only place that my family would resort too for Mexican food. I have eaten at this place for more than 25 years and the food quality has not changed. Whenever I am in town, I definitely make time to come enjoy a ginormous delicious burrito. The family that runs this place is very nice and always greet with warm smile. The restaurant is small and way over due for makeover, but the quality/consistency of the food makes up for it. Between the hours of 11:30−2 it does get really packed in there; get there early to get a seat. Parking sometimes is a pain too. Every person that I have introduced to this restaurant gets hooked like a cracked head(lol). The food is that damn good! As you can see from the photos the $ 5.50 Burritos are literally bigger than the plates served on and filled with rice, beans, cheese, salsa, onion, cilantro and your specialty choice of meat: Carnitas, Asada, Cabeza. Same goes for the Especial combo plate. No outside drinks are allowed inside but there are plenty of canned sodas or beer to choose from. Credit/Debit cards are not allowed and as Mari mentioned no burritos on Sundays :(Also they are closed on Mondays. Highly recommend Taqueria Chavinda!

I had my burrito fix today! This place is truly a hidden gem. Very simple menu just tacos and burritos that’s it, but that’s all they need when the execute them so well. Had a Asada burrito today and did not disappoint. Melted cheese, yummy Mexican rice and beans and there awesome salsa. Only complaint I wish they sold burritos on Sundays :(they only sell tacos.

Best Tacos in Madera or maybe the whole Central Valley! I’ve been eating here for at least 15 years. You won’t be disappointed!

This place has ruined carnitas and asada burritos for me. Every other place I go to, I compare them to Chavindas. Like Sinead O’Connor said«nothing compares to you.» They’re AMAZING!
