I was someone that had been shooting on and off since I was pretty young, but only with rifles. I had no real handgun experience and with an interest in CCW decided it was time to get some training. I found that Spenser’s was a shop close to my area that offered classes. I stopped by to ask about the handgun class, the staff was very helpful and friendly. I asked about the class and they gave me information about how the training works. I told them I would like to sign up and they set me up. Helped me pick out which rental gun I would like to use for the class and hooked me up with ammo to bring with me to the shooting range on the day of the class(the Glock was waiting for me the day of class). I spent the day shooting with Doc(instructor) and Spencer himself was there that day as well. Had a great time. Everyone was very professional and friendly. I learned a lot and it got me very comfortable and at home with a hand gun. I plan on making my next purchase at Spensers and can’t wait to take some more classes with them.

Love the people at Spencer’s Firearms. They are are very knowledgeable, friendly, and super helpful. Three things not usually associated with a gun store. They have had most of everything I wanted on hand, and when they don’t have it in stock, they are always able to get in a few days. I have brought guns, ammo, and a reloader from them over the last year. They back up all their products and have gone above and beyond to help me when I have gotten in over my head. Recently I begun taking hand gun classes with«Doc» a long time employee of the store. I learned more in the few classes I took with him than the 30 years I had been shooting prior.

Bought my first gun here. I went to no less than 7 shops or so, and found spencer’s to be the most accommodating. He spent ample time with me, the prices were better than many of the other shops I went to, and every time I’ve been back since, I’ve learned something. Definitely worth the trip.

I’ll been shooting since the early 60’s as a kid. I can remember when you could buy guns mail order with no paperwork(pre 1968 Gun Control Act). Well those days are gone but Spencer’s makes the paperwork as easy and hassle free as possible. Some people had posted reviews that the price of some items doubled, I don’t know where that person has been but just finding some items at any price is amazing. Spencer’s does the best it can in today’s market(thankfully looks as if things are easing up a bit). I found that Spencer’s has had ammo and pistols when no one else did. I great shop with friendly and helpful staff. It really is like the old gun shops of the past a place your welcome where shooting and gun talk abounds. I highly recommend for first time buyers as very helpful to the less knowledgeable.

I have gone to this place since it opened I can honestly say that these people are fantastic! the sad part is that those posting poor reviews like to be coddled, the Owner is honest and direct if that makes him a D**K HEAD then I suppose there are lots of us out there. I am always greeted with a smile and handshake. these folks have helped me tremendously assisted me in many purchases and saved me money. I have been in the store when people have come in and demand this or that and are quite rude to them and when they don’t get what they want they write a poor review I for one find this to be funny. I would recommend this place prior to any other place you go you will be treated fairly and you will go back for all your firearm purchases.

The staff at Spencer’s is very friendly and helpful. Today I brought along my 12 year old son and they were very patient and accommodating to his questions and interests in the various rifles. He was very excited they actually had the ammo he needed so he could shoot his 22 this weekend. We drove all the way from Sanger and it was well worth the trip. We will be back.

I am a big gun fan, I enjoy plinking, skeet shooting and hunting. I live in Madera so I try to spend in my community, Pete’s Sports Shop was where I would go back in the day, but now all they do is screen printing. So I have been looking for a good local shop and there are two here in Madera but they are both just not there. What I mean is I have been to Spencer’s two times, they are very nice, price a little high, guns are flying out the door, so I understand why they have very little to pick from, I get that, ammo is all gone some things are out of your control. I have gone by this place on Sunday and there closed, so I went on into Fresno and got my S&W from an open gun shop, Sundays are my only free day to do what I want. Very nice people, but not very convenient with the store hours, that hurts a little for me and them, I would have liked to pend my $$$ at there place. They dont take American Express

I went to Spencer’s on my way back into Fresno after business took me into Madera. When I walked in it was busy, which is understandable given the current run on guns and ammo. No problem, it was my first visit and I wanted to see what they had for sale. I came across a couple of 17 rd repair kits that were marked $ 39.99. I asked to purchase them and the owner pulled them out of the case and said, «By the way, these are now DOUBLETHEPRICE.» What. The. Hell? He then went on to explain that one of his competitors had apparently been buying repair kits from him and selling them at a higher price in their establishment. None of this justifies the gouging that he expected me to pay! I will NEVER set foot in Spencer’s again. I DONOT appreciate being ripped off by unethical businesses that double the price of products because of a temporary shortage. I sure hope they enjoy that radio advertising they’re paying for because they’re not going to get referrals from satisfied customers. And no, I’m not going to name any competitors in my review. To do so would diminish the review and leave doubt in the readers mind of my motivations. I signed up on Unilocal just to warn buyers about an unscrupulous business! Avoid.

I went in to buy a gun and was turned off right away. it was just me and my dad and the man and women who work there, not to familiar with rifles i ask questions but the answers were short and it was like i was waisting there time, whether they were judging a book by its cover or having a bad day as a business customer service is everything. question after question was met with a short answer and your waisting my time attitude, a friend said he was met with a better attitude, i left that day and went to PRK arms. there my questions were answered and treated me as an equal, i bought a AR15 for around 800.00. which spencer’s told me id never find for less than 1200.00−1500.00. i own a business as well and i never treat people in a negative way. the customer is how we eat, and stay a strong business. thanks PRK.

Great place to buy a gun or other gun related«stuff» including quite a bit of reloading supplies. I’ve worked with Spencer and Monique for years now and they’ve always been top notch. What I also appreciate it their charitable work in support of gun owners rights. Monique has been a big part of the local NRA fund raising efforts for many years. If you’re looking for a quality gun for a really good price definitely go see them. They’ve got everything from the basics(Glocks, XDs, etc.) to some really cool rare stuff that they always seem to find. If by «Good ol Boy shop» Michael means a store that knows you by your first name and always greets you with a smile… then yeah, that’s probably what they are!
