Working with Rick at BluRaven is a real pleasure. He is a walking encyclopedia of firearms, gunsmithing and ammunition. He responds to phone calls and emails quickly. He runs his business out of his home but don’t let that fool you he has a full blown shop inside that rivals local businesses. I would highly recommend to anyone to patronize BluRaven for all your gunsmith and FFL transfer business!

Rick at BluRaven is simply the best. FFL transfers are more efficiently handled by him than I have ever experienced anywhere else. He is knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and very reasonably priced. This is the guy, folks. Look no further.

The fact that you can get a pistol transferred to you from here for only $ 35 makes patronizing this establishment a complete no-brainer, but that doesn’t do any remote justice to the experience of being a BluRaven customer. Rick, the owner of BluRaven, is passionate about his work, which ranges from $ 6000+ competition 1911’s to re-blueing classic firearms. He has every chemical ready for any situation a customer may encounter, from multiple solvents depending on what you shoot, to teflon-based oils for competition guns, and various greases specifically for long-term storage and lubrication of shotgun springs. When I first went to Rick for my FFL transfer, the only times I needed to touch a pen were to sign the paperwork. He literally handled every other detail for me, and gave me a detailed review and his opinion of the pistol I’d purchased, compared to others he’d fired in the past. He then gave me short and long-term maintenance procedures to follow for my gun to best maximize its efficiency, but also minimize the number of tolerance-loosening tear-downs I’d need to undergo. Bought a trade-in? Rick will more likely than not give the firearm a once-over(and even disassemble and inspect the internals if you ask really nicely) and offer you his personal opinion on the value of what you’ve just bought. Desperate for ammo? Well when I was signing the paperwork for my Sig 1911 – 22, Rick generously offered to sell his last two boxes of hollowpoint .22’s at the cost he’d purchased them for if I couldn’t find anything better. Few tidbits: For fastest service, the phone is your best bet! FFL transfer fee for pistols is only $ 35. Yes, StreetView will show the storefront is a suburban dwelling, don’t let that deter you! Inside is a temperature controlled shop capable of handling just about anything you could throw at it. No credit cards for now, but soon I’m told.
