I have no idea what I’m doing as far as Indian food goes. I stopped by the Turkish grocery store and saw this place. I love exploring new places so I wandered in after I was done at the other place. After wandering for a bit, my boyfriend asked the store owner for what he likes in the freezer section. He seemed super amused and happy. He picked out a selection of things until we said that was enough. Then made sure we got plenty of bread to go with everything. He pointed out more products for later and said he’ll make sure to help us find more things we like after try some things. He was so unbelievably happy and helpful. Honestly it was one of my favorite grocery shopping experiences. I can’t wait to come back.

Absolutely ridiculous! The owners are impolite and would offer customers expired stuff for low price. I have been going to this store for some time and have been very careful to check expiration dates. In my last trip last week, I found live worms in dry nuts. Not only, did they started arguing about the fact that I didn’t buy nuts last week but started claiming that DRY nuts can go bad in a week. Seriously! Please do not touch their so called ‘fresh’ snack. They are anything but fresh. There are 2 other Indian stores within walking distance of this store. I would rather go to either one of them instead.

I love this place! My favorite Indian Grocer not only in Madison but I’ve visited many Indian Grocers in Chicago and none are really in measure to this one. It’s small, yes, but the owner takes care in his products and pays attention to regular customers and what they like and how they’re doing. He’s a great, wonderful man. And I always find what I’m looking for. If i dont, he’s willing to help me figure out how I can get what I need. I love this shop and I visit it every six or so months to stock up on henna or teas I can’t find anywhere else, or madisons best Samosas! Also he always has pretty Cool odd produce specials depending on the time of year. So yeah I’m a pretty big fan. This place is great.

We all know there’s some great Indian restaurants and buffets in town. We’ve raised our curry swords and fought out which is the best. But what if you like to try your hand at cooking your own authentic Indian fare? I’m talking going beyond the Trader Joe’s masala in a box or paste in a jar. Grab a cookbook, put on your punjabi hat, and get yourself over to Bombay Bazaar! If your experience is like mine, you’ll be greeted by the friendly owner at the counter just before you’re greeted by a dozen aisles of amazing imported Indian fare. Legumes of all kinds, rice in bags so big I thought they were pet food, a wall of pre-mixed spices for particular popular dishes, and a back wall of coolers filled with produce, Indian beverages, paneer, and more. Prices are solid and selection is the best I’ve seen in town. At the counter I noticed two pastry boxes filled with something fried and delicious-looking. Donuts? No, samosas. Freshly made, smelling of curry and peas and cheese. Uh oh, looks like I know what I’m picking up next time. While chatting with the owner, I mentioned it was our first time in. He welcomed us with a complimentary DVD of a popular Bollywood film!(Upon viewing, it was even cheesier than expected, but cool just the same). Do it. Get your Bombay on!
