Just took a private class with my family at Bowen and Brett’s home kitchen. It was amazing! Expertly organized, personal and of course tasty. We learned so much useful information about beans, chocolate, salt, olive oil, poaching eggs, making bread crumbs, garlic, ricotta, vanilla and asparagus! The menu was fantastic: Garlic rubbed Toasts with HOMEMADE lemon-herbed ricotta. Wow — never knew it would be so easy or tasty! Roasted asparagus with Dijon-shallot vinaigrette and poached eggs — best egg poaching technique we have learned. Bowen was such a good teacher that each of us made perfect poached eggs on the first try. Chicken and sausage white bean cassoulet. Amazingly flavorful — we leaned about the benefits and techniques that can take beans from bland to irresistible. The whole meal result was an über-comfort food! Dessert… An almost flourless chocolate torte with vanilla bean whipped cream that received reviews of «damn!» and«the best desert I’ve ever had.» No joke this thing was a bit ridiculous to even attempt to describe. We are betting that Bowen could probably sustain a restaurant selling this item alone. Thank you Bowen and Brett for such a wonderful evening of learning, laughing and luxurious food!

I can’t recommend Bowen Appétit enough. Incredibly professional but casual class, which was informative and fun(and the food was delicious!). Bowen puts students at ease in the kitchen, and effortlessly transitions from dish to dish, explaining food history and technique as she goes. The class is very well-paced(there are lots of breaks to eat and chat as you cook) and very hands-on(you actually contribute to cooking each dish). We will definitely be taking another class from Bowen, as soon as we’re able to find one that isn’t sold out!
