Had some serious problems with an old external hard drive which contained over a decade of photos, home movies, financial documents etc. Gillware was recommended by a local company I had called. The customer service from initial contact through the whole process which was about a week from the time I sent til I received it back consisted of phone calls and emails. You are kept informed of each step, view the files that can be recovered and pick your return media.
The price is steep, mine was in the middle of the original price spread. Upcharge on the hard drive the data is returned on. Since they offer cloud service it would have been nice if I could have downloaded it, also a way for them to pitch their service.
If you have important data that you don’t want to lose don’t hesitate to send it to gillware. 99% of mine was recovered from a professional company.

Procrastination did me in. A year ago I purchased a new external hard drive (HD) because i figured my old external HD needed replacing. i procrastinated doing the transfer. When i did decide to do it, the oldie produced a lot of scraping noise and didnt transfer all the files. I had a computer friend look at it. He was able to retrieve about 10%. He suggested I find a service with a clean room because the plates in the HD needed to be looked at in a «clean sterile room». I consulted with Super Geeks and they referred me to Gillware.
I found Gillware online. As soon as I submitted an inquiry, I received a phone call from customer service. I was provided with a possible piece quote as mentioned on their website. The greatest about Gillware is that the customer does NOT pay if data is not recovered. The service is quick and they provide you with a list of documents recovered and the amount unrecoverable. I had about 4 documents not recoverable from 10 years worth of priceless precious family documents and pictures! Because my HD had to be repaired, the level of service/​price was bumped up from $ 200 -$ 400 range to $ 600. Then a 500GB portable external HD was added on for $ 90 on which they sent my files to me for a well worth $ 709. I can’t thank them enough! Excellent customer service. Lesson learned: back up your precious doc in multiple HDs and DVDs. That $ 90 external HD that you’ve been procrastinating about is a lot more economical than a $ 700 document recovery and stress.

HDD SATA died! Attempted to recover myself using SW that was very highly recommended. Next contacted a local person on Cape Cod after two days he failed and said that the drive had mechanical issues (?). Then I did an internet search and found several companies contacted 4 or 5 and got an idea of their services and pricing structures. This is where Gillware first stood out, no up front financial commitment whatsoever they even paid the UPS charge for me to get the HDD to them. The customer service group at GW kept me updated, let me know when they received the drive, when they started work, when they finished they sent me a tree showing the files they recovered. To my amazement they found everything, all I was hoping for was one critical MS Access Data Base that contained our inventory and cost of goods and price lists. After I reviewed the data tree that they provided I called them and asked if they would open the critical file and walk me through what they could see. The person was more than willing to do this (remember I still had not agreed to pay them anything) he was able to identify everything that I was looking for. As he was speaking I interrupted him to give him my credit card number. The next step was the shipping options and cost to return the dead HDD with DVD of the files. Not done yet, made my payment and I then asked for a favor and that was to email me the critical file so I could get to work on updating it. He did and I opened it and was 100% of what I was expecting. When the DVDs arrive I will have a lot of bonus data that I didn’t care about but I am sure it will come in handy. The final cost was very reasonable for what I received and lower than any of the other 4 estimates that I had received. I also just found out that if you like Gillware on Facebook they will pay the return shipping charge. Thank you Gillware Team you are the best!

My computer had a little melt down and I lost two hard drives in the same day. One of them containing all my photos, documents, and really everything that I have that is important. I Googled data recovery and found Gillware. Their customer service was excellent. They were able to recover 200 GB of info that I would never have been able to replace, they put it on a hard drive that I sent them, and they got my info back to me, all within a week of receiving my hard drive. It all only cost me about $ 400 with data recover and shipping. I highly recommend this company.
