Seriously… the best donuts I have ever had. I wish we lived closer. Seattle is a bit far. This was a great place to stop on our road trip… glad we found it. Sooooo delicious.

The best doughnut shop in the city, hands down. No one else is close. Go early in the morning when they are fresh for the best experience.

I will start out by saying is I am diabetic and could not eat anything here. Sigh. A nice bran muffin or sugar free would have been nice. My family DID however partake in the nummy goodness of Greenbush Bakery. My eldest had their Apple Fritter and it was Huge and out of this world. The banana doughnut was also good. Be prepared to stand in line and smell that sweet aroma of friend dough. Well worth the wait.

I live on the east side but have to go to the west side at least once a week. On my way home I try to stop at Greenbush. Words can’t describe how good everything is. Each time I stop it’s because I want to get a little snack for each of the 4 people in my household. Each time I stop I get enough for 8 – 12 people. Mmmmm.

Plain and simple, this place ROCKS. Awesome donuts, good prices, friendly staff. If anything, they’re too good — I can’t enjoy your average doughut anymore because it can’t compare to Greenbush. The Old Fashioned’s are to die for!

Donuts… *drools* At a buck a donut, how can you say no?! The problem is that my mind says«buy them all» and my waistline says«you probably should just stop at one…»…and I always manage to walk out of there with half a dozen. My favorites are the peanut butter with chocolate drizzle, and the coconut ones with vanilla icing. Do it… buy all the donuts…

Dear Greenbush, Remember me? I used to live six blocks away from you and your beautiful donuty aroma. It was love at first taste and I would visit at least once a week, stopping by late at night grabbing two donuts at minimum. One for right then, and one for the morning. I couldn’t resist you. Living farther away is probably a good thing for my health and my pocket change. You are an addiction that I couldn’t break easily. From time to time, I will come back to order the best old-fashioned donuts in town… I may have moved away to a slightly healthier lifestyle, but those late night memories of you and me together, under the moonlight as I walked away with your donuts in hand, will be cherished forever. I can’t wait for our next reunion. Love, B

Clearly the best donuts I’ve ever had. Nothing I can say will be different than the many other reviewers, but their filled and cake donuts are my favorite! If you don’t usually like cake, TRYTHEIRCAKEOREO!!!

Truly, a Madison Institution. If you live in Madison or in the surrounding areas, you know about Greenbush Bakery. The fact that I am writing a review is irrelevant. You already know that the place is great. You already know that you need to get there early because they sell out quick. You already know that their fritters are the size of hub caps. You already know that the donuts are some of the best you will ever taste. If you have never heard of the place, stop denying yourself a phenomenal culinary experience. Stop by and pick up one, two, a half-dozen or a whole dozen. Something so simple and flavorful at a low price, in the palm of your hand.(Or, two hands, if you are having a fritter.)

Fast, friendly, and delicious. What more can a girl ask for?! The donuts are always good(go in the evening to get freshly made ones!) and even when there’s a line, you’re in and out in no time. My personal fave: the regular glazed donut. Can’t go wrong with that!

I didn’t come here til after dinner and they still had every flavor available. We got 2 cream filled, an old fashioned, chocolate glazed and original glazed and of course their famous fritter for our friends. I tried the old fashioned and the fritters and thought they were delish. My friends loved the cream filled. Great job Greenbush!

Indeed, I never met a donut I didn’t like. But some donuts are just easier to like than others. Greenbush hits the spot at just about all hours of the day and night — — except for Mondays when they are closed… aaargh! But absence does make the heart grow fonder and those apple fritters somehow taste even better after some anticipation. Frankly, I think everything is better appreciated and savored with a little anticipation. They say this is Madison’s only kosher donut spot. I am not Jewish and do not keep Kosher but I am sure glad Greenbush does it the way they do. They have an awesome variety of donuts which you must admire when you walk into the door if you’re so lucky to be there when they are fully stocked, lined up in all of their glistening glory on the wall and in the glass case. Such was my fortune one fine Sunday morning accompanied by my wife. We were greeted there by an older lady with a big smile, an empty white bakery box in hand awaiting our order and advising us that she was the Baker of these delights. I promptly broke the law and my wedding vows and shamelessly proposed marriage to her. My spouse, patient and amused, quite understood. So did the hair-netted lady who, I suspect, had similarly enchanted and lured many others before me to shipwreck upon her counter with the siren call of her fry-o-lator arts. Favorites? Peanut, kruller, coconut, apple fritter, and French. But again, like people, I never met a donut I didn’t like. See you there.

Wow this has to be my favorite late night joint in town! The aroma beckons you into this little miracle of a place, display cases of over a dozen variety of donuts tempts you as you wait in a seemingly never-ending line of customers. We came for the famous apple fritters and let me tell you, the hype is real! Even eaten out of a paper bag, the flavors beckon a more elegant calling. The glaze forms a shell in contrast to the doughy, soft dough, with spiced apple sprinkled throughout. Their other donuts were also wonderful, we devoured a oreo and sprinkle creation and the strawberry filling stuffed version was also memorable. We got all this plus half a dozen to take home for $ 11(a minor misunderstanding snafu led the sole staff to comp us 2 free donuts)!

I’ve never liked donuts that much but when I went to Greenbush Bakery and fell in love. They’re very cheap and delicious. The only con is that they don’t always have what you come in for, but donuts are an early morning game, so get there early for more variety of baked goods.

I feel like there isn’t much to say about Greenbush that hasn’t already been said a million times. I love that it’s exactly the same as it was when I went to college a really, really long time ago. I love that their hours are 6 a.m. — 12 a.m. I’ve had many late night donuts, and they always hit the spot. I love when the«older» woman(aka: not college kids) are working and toss in an extra donut or two just because. I love their Boston creams and their maple donuts and their jelly-filled, and… you get the idea. Greenbush is a Madison institution, and I hope it never changes!

If I could divorce my husband to marry Greenbush donuts, I just might. I mean, he’s good for some things, but Greenbush, oh my. I just love thee so! Last year, before moving to Madison, the hubby comes home ranting and raving about Greenbush donuts. I say, ok, sure, whatever. I mean, who doesn’t love a donut? But then… I experienced them for myself. So fresh, so moist, so amazing! My favorite is the fritter. I could put one of those suckers down in about half an hour, less if I am hungover. Otherwise, their classic donuts really shine to me. I don’t need nothing fancy, give me a good old cake donut and I am happy as a clam. Truly a shining star in the Madison food scene!

Best donuts I’ve had thus far. Moist and just enough sugar. I would definitely try the blueberry donut, and the cherry donut. Slightly crunchier on one side(from the fry/bake) and moist on the other. It reminded me of muffin tops with better texture. I had a cherry jam-filled bar which was also really good, but a bit sweet for my taste. They take credit cards!

We stopped in based on Unilocal reviews. I’m not in agreement with all the 5 star reviews. Our fritter was good and the staff was polite and the price was fair. The donuts were average. Free parking.

Doughnuts or donuts? However you choose to spell it, this place is great. My sister talks about this place all the time so with today being Fat Tuesday, it seemed like a good day to pick up a dozen doughnuts — plus the price is right. $ 11 for a dozen quality doughnuts, sounds good to me. I’m a fan if the custard filled but we also enjoyed their Oreo doughnut filled with vanilla whipped cream, traditional glazed, a blueberry sour cream and then of course a doughnut with sprinkles. The bakery is small with just a counter and a couple of employees but what else do you really need? If they hadn’t told me it was in the strip mall right next to Rocky Rocco’s, I probably would have drive right past it. This place does seem to have a lot of foot traffic though with it being so close to the University. Great doughnuts!
