Our cat Audrey deteriorated significantly over the past week and it became clear when looking at her behavior and physical condition that it was time to say goodbye. We were very pleased to find Journeys Home available on a Sunday morning to come and peacefully put our beloved pet to sleep. Dr. Laura Purdy was extremely compassionate and took very good care of our cat. We couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful and loving end to our departed family member.

We put our beloved pet down today and Dr. Katie Hilst turned this traumatic event into a peaceful, beautiful experience for us. She was kind, compassionate, professional, knowledgable and clearly experienced. She told us exactly what was going to happen. Our dog was given some treats to distract him while Dr. Hilst sedated him and then he gently fell asleep. She administered a second med to stop his heart but he was completely unaware. She covered him with a beautiful blanket after she made paw prints and then put him on a stretcher to take for cremation. We would never have made it through this with our her and recommend to everyone to use this service in your time of need.

We had our dog put down yesterday. Katie was able to meet with us in our home the same day we called. She was very compassionate, understanding and made our dog (Abbey), and our family, comfortable during Abbey’s last moments of life. Our dog was sedated before being euthanized, letting her go peacefully and with dignity. The other dogs we’ve had put down seemed to struggle at the end, so this seemed like a much more humane way to go.
Also, having this done at home made it seem much more relaxing as our dog didn’t get nervous about going to the vet and waiting in an unfamiliar room with other distractions/​stressors.
Katie’s services go beyond just in home euthanasia though; she also arranged to take care of the cremation process and will be dropping off the remains once the process is finished. She also made 2 clay paw prints of Abbey for us to remember her by. We will definitely use Katie’s services if the time comes again.
